  1. All R33 GTS25Ts are Type-Ms However Spec 2s (otherwise known as Series 2) versions kicked in from 1996 production cars onwards. There were some 1995 produced cars with some of the Spec 2 features, which are colloquially known as 'Series 1.5.' The following thread contains a discussion about the differences. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=17349
  2. There are a few manuals around, but one of the fairly common one is a (illegally) scanned version of the JPNZ manual (who translated a Japanese one), which the link above refers to.

  5. Actually SEVS is nearly three years old now. All the information I produced above about the importing process was from Vehicle Standards Bulletin VSB10 - (Importing Vehicles to Australia), which was linked straight in my FAQ. All the links in that still work so I'm not sure what you mean by garbled. That was all I pretty much went off when I started learning about the importing process. Those steps you outlined seems to be correct, although I'd recommend BEFORE you buy the car to consult a RAWS. Like sewid said, it's no good buying a car in Japan, only to find out you cannot import it as no RAWS have available compliance plates. It's not that inconceivable a scenario - I arranged my for my gf to buy an import earlier this year, one for which there were only two RAWS at the time with plates. One said he would not deal with individuals, and the other only had a few left, one of which I took. By the time I imported the car he had run out, so if I had bought a car then, I'd effectively be stranded. Like you suggested, by all means ask questions. I don't believe anyone who's asked a legitimate question in the imports forum has been shut down.. One more thing - since the J-Spec website even suggests that a car shouldn't be shipped without the approval, I don't know why it would have been done this way. But I know this. They're usually more than happy to explain the complete import process to you, and would have probably provided all the information necessary.
  6. You obviously haven't been there as a customer then. Marty does high end installs but he also does basic 'no-brainer' installations too. Price wise, he doesn't charge more than your local car audio store, so I dunno where you got that from.. It's like the CRD story. Everytime CRD is mentioned, someone says that they charge too much. There's more to it than how much you pay.. But hey, for everyone that's looking to do a headunit. It's not too hard to do yourself. Plenty of guidance in the Car Audio section , or consult any other forum for some recommendations (Car Audio Australia, etc).
  7. The J-Spec website clearly says that "laws state that you must not ship the car until you have the import approval." DOTARS also notes in several places that "It is strongly recommended that you do not ship your vehicle to Australia until such time as you are issued with an Import Approval. If you ship your vehicle before receiving an approval and your vehicle arrives before the application is processed, you may incur storage costs from the shipping company/freight forwarder. You may also be open to prosecution, as it is an offence to import a vehicle without an import approval" Finally, the Import Approval form notes a turnaround time of 17 days from receipt of all documentation for issuance of an approval.
  8. Why is that overkill?
  9. Chris is spot on. Open up the yellow pages and consult your local car security expert.
  10. This thread owns n00bs..
  11. The Power Intakes come in a number of sizes, with different inlet diameters, and overall lengths. You gotta make sure you get the right one, some will require an adaptor, others (like everyone suggested) will bolt straight up to the AFM. My 2c is telling me you have one of the latter ones.
  12. 47850 24U00 comes up in FAST as "A Module Skid" - I'm guessing ABS?
  13. ..and then some http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...p?showtopic=631 "...The gearbox took close to 4lt of oil."
  14. Do you guys stock the standard RB26 (non-N1) pumps also?
  15. Well according to HKS USA both places are still authorised dealers, but BD4s is also a Pro Dealer, which means they have access to the tuning software for the F-Cons. I've had a car tuned @ BD4s, they were on the level with me and pretty helpful. But your best bet is to talk to both of them and see who you're happiest with.

  17. Mmm..P1 Racing wheels good.. //edit: Plenty of places can get them for you, dunno where you are though. WA: Try C-Red NSW: Check with Buddyclub.com.au for a retailer near you Vic: Slidewize I think? or most of the traders should be able to get them. Buddy Club Japan ceased trading in 2005, but it was only a subsidiary of the parent company (based in Taiwan), but was the arm responsible for most of the wheel production, which was largely why they stopped being available. They kept making the crappy non-forged wheels for the US market though. But now they're producing again, and opened up a local distribution outlet.
  18. Transport SA guidelines for interstate vehicles. Read that. If you want to register the WRX in her name, you need to: 1. Get an Identity Check 2. Go to Transport SA and register car, pay fees (stamp duty, new plates, etc) 3. Apply to NSW RTA for a refund on rego fees not used.
  19. Ye gods big man you're wasting away to nothing! You'll end up looking like bananaman yourself soon..
  20. Just saw BBB165 R34 GTR going around Glenbrook. Had a PowerPlay sticker on the rear quarter. Very nice..
  21. This thread is three years old..(well it will be tomorrow). Happy birthday thread
  22. http://www.couriermail.news.com.au/story/0...86-3102,00.html A ROCKHAMPTON woman died after a police chase in Maryborough early this morning. The woman, 20, died after the car in which she was a front seat passenger went into a Maryborough lagoon. According to a police spokeswoman police tried to intercept the car at 1.15am on Lennox Street and a short pursuit occurred. A few seconds after the driver failed to stop it allegedly sped towards the intersection of Cheapside St before hitting a kerb, losing control and landing in Ululah Lagoon. Two male passengers got out of the vehicle and have been detained by police for questioning. Police are investigating the incident.
  23. Star Trak aren't too bad. Used them last week to freight a fibreglass front bar from Syd -> Vic with not much more than bubblewrap, a bit of cardboard and packing tape. Arrived in one piece.
