Police, Should I Be Angry?
raz0r$harP.UK replied to rb30gtr's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I gotta watch myself here - my reply to Ash that you quoted above was talking about VicRoads. However in response to what you said, the RTA specifies that pink/blue slips, going to get CTP, vehicle inspection stations, visiting the RTA, going to a garage for repairs - all can be driven to unregistered (see list: http://rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/rego_unregistered.html ). -

I was going off this Ash: I read that as saying if you have your RWC and stuff ready (i.e. all paperwork ready to register), but your car is unregged you can drive it without needing a UVP (NB - talking about Victoria here!). -

Chris (Manwhore) is correct. You can drive an unregistered car on the street for the purposes of establishing registration. This applies in both NSW and VIC (although there are subtle differences in each state). One of the times you are allowed to drive is 'to the nearest convenient vehicle inspection station or authorised inspection station to determine whether the vehicle complies with the applicable vehicle standards' (as per here). If you got done within operating hours of the mechanic, then I'd consider contesting it. Just clearing up some other things below... As above. But if you are caught driving for any other reason, it's a fine. The 'TRAFFIC' thing is a myth. No you don't. That 'no insurance' fine (if you get done for it) is for no CTP. -
..and on that note I think this thread has run it's course. Daniel if you'd like it re-opened for any reason please PM me.

Yep pretty much. It might have been a 'bargain' because it's unable to be registered for some reason or another, and it wouldn't have been the first (or last) time someone's done this (sold a car which can't be registered to someone who wasn't aware). Best bet is to contact DOTARS Vehicle Imports Enquiry Line (1800 815 272) or VicRoads, confirm your mate is the current owner of the car, give them the VIN details and ask about the status of the car. They should be able to tell you whether it's been previously registered / imported for road use, or if it can be in the future.

Did your mate get any import papers with the sale?

Speaking to an exhaust place recently, they were telling me of a few stories about these type of cats failing after a while, matrix collapses and causes a blockage.

Getting A Tare Wieght

Weighbridge. Look one up in your yellow pages, shouldn't cost more than $30 to weigh it and get a docket certifying the vehicle. -
Shop around if you want: http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RAWPubSearch.asp Search for 'Nissan,' 'Skyline R32' & call around. There's 16 listed in QLD alone. Tyres - you need new ones. Some places will allow you to buy your own, other's won't. Doors - seems you can get aftermarket side-intrusion bars engineered now. However don't think the cost will be very different. If the workshop let you find your own doors they need to be the ones with intrusion bars in them. Mods - sounds like you have a modified GTR. Always going to be additional costs for removing those parts as part of compliance.

Trader Rating Pages
raz0r$harP.UK replied to nuffin_werks's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
Yeah I get that too. The URL for that missing image comes out as "http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/{ipb.vars[" - and occurs on all skins (I'm using IE6). Regarding BB's issue, this is what I see Viewing BB's feedback (works) http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?act=tradecom&CODE=user&mid=3621&la=0 Viewing feedback made by BB (doesn't work)... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/act=tradecom&CODE=fromuser&mid=3621&la=0 ...it's missing "index.php?" in the URL, i.e. it should read: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?act=tradecom&CODE=fromuser&mid=3621&la=0 If you paste that URL into the browser, it shows the feedback made by a user, however, all the links below the page heading (i.e. to PM a user or view their trader history) has errors in the link so they won't work. -
Buying R34 Gt-t
raz0r$harP.UK replied to brock355's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Every one of your questions has been answered countless times on the forum. I suggest you take your questions, search the keywords, and read up. For importing - look in this forum (Imports) For modification queries - look in Forced Induction Workshops in Vic - look in the Victoria forum Alarms - look in the Car Audio and Security forum etc. -

Check fuses. Search in this forum as it comes up at least once a week. Closed. -
Troubleshooting Using a test light This is a very good and simple guide that shows you how you can diagnose problems. Test lights only cost a few dollars, and can be useful in determining whether you have a blown fuse.

Complied and imported under what scheme? (Check the Import Approval that comes with the car) Basically this link will show you all the info (and paperwork) you may need. Read the section on Imported Vehicles. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/rego_new.html Moved to NSW

Control Global Logistics in Botany. I used them a few years ago to import my R33. Not sure about costs costs as it was some time ago, but no hassles - I even managed to get the car through without requiring steam cleaning, which is somewhat of a rarity these days.
