Got my brother's 32 complianced a month ago, and was told side indicators weren't required anymore. Glad too because I didn't want them cutting into the side of the car. Same deal with dash dimmer too, no longer a requirement.

Aircon gas question
raz0r$harP.UK replied to Beer Baron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
You can try talking to whoever did the degassing but I doubt you'll get your money back Ray. Because someone has performed a service on your car, hence time & labour etc was involved, and just because it's not required now doesn't mean they'll refund you. Doesn't hurt to ask though. -

Aircon gas question
raz0r$harP.UK replied to Beer Baron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Okay guys, I called up the Dept of Environment and Heritage today and got the lowdown.. Since March or so, it was a requirement that ALL imported vehicles with the old gas needed to be de-gassed (which we all knew). But in recent times, there's been a change to the rules. People who are bringing in one off imports for personal use (i.e, not for trade or commerce) do not need degassing to be carried out. To qualify, you simply need to: - make a declaration stating the car is for personal use, AND - provide proof of identity (eg Driver's Licence / Passport) If you are using a customs agent, simply provide the required documentation to them. Once they check it out, DEH will then issue a clearance direct to the Customs COMPILE system. Of course, normal DOTARS / Customs / etc requirements still apply. I was also told that this exemption will apply to ONE car only within a TWO year period, and will be closely monitored by DEH. Anyway, you can contact them on 02 6274 1111 for more info. -

Do a search. A lot of people have used the Hybrids with no problems, same with the Trust. In the end it comes down to personal choice. Someone might swear by Japanese parts, others will say parts from other localities are just as good if not better. If you're looking to save some money, then a Hybrid might be the way to go.

Got the same prob too in a 32 GTST. Oil pressure drops to zero (and the red low pressure light comes on) when I come to a stop, then picks up when I start moving again. Occasionally stalled too. But I had a few oil leaks in the steering rack, sump, etc. Mechanic fixed that up the other day and hopefully that should fix it up.

How a proper GReddy intercooler should look like (although like Driver said - GRex/GReddy/Trust are all the same company): http://trust-power.com/02greddy/intercooler_kit.html How a Hybrid intercooler looks like: http://www.xracing.com.au/htm/xintercooler.htm Then look at the Ebay ad. I saw that ad earlier this week..got excited..then suspicious.. Look at the end tanks, and the holes on the top. It looks to me as if it's a Hybrid copy, with 'Trust' stamped on it.

Nozila I bought a stainless pipe, and at the moment it's sitting in my room because I want to purchase the rest of the exhaust (cat-back system) before I install it. But if I had the chance I'd probably buy the mild steel version instead. Cost, as well as I can't really see the pipe rusting anytime soon (although I have no conclusive evidence to back that up, just my feelings).

Aircon gas question
raz0r$harP.UK replied to Beer Baron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Guys when I imported my 15yo car last month, I was chasing up my import broker for the degassing certificates. He told me the govt no longer required that for a private importer. However when Customs asked for the proof, I told them about the 'backflip' and their reply was 'that it was news to us.' They then spoke to someone from the Dept of Environment and Heritage in Canberra (who actually made the initial decisions about degassing), and they told Customs it was still required. Proof could be given in the form of a certificate or license number of someone authorised to degas the car. I never chased this up with my broker, as I eventually received clearance for my vehicle.. -

R34 GTt intercooler -> R33 GTST (work in progress)
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Maintenance
After spending two half days working under poor light, I ended up running out of time finishing the job. The bloody piping is on so tight! I only took my wheel & guard off so space to grip the pipes properly was limited. I'm gonna try in a couple of weeks when I have some time off work, and this time remove the front bar so I can get some proper leverage. -
how long to import a car?
raz0r$harP.UK replied to DLuded's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Well it depends on the condition of the car (ie how dirty it is). At the moment it seems that virtually all cars coming into Sydney need steam cleaning. Once the car arrives in port: - usually Customs & AQIS inspect the next business day - if it needs cleaning, allow one or two days for cleaning and an AQIS re-inspection - pick it up from the wharves / steam cleaners and deliver to compliancers.. - ..which took me a week before it was ready. The compliance work itself was done in two days, but had to wait for the rest of the week for the engineer to finish his report. - once that was done, I took it straight to the RTA and got it registered on the spot. All up for my 89 import, 10 days from when it arrived in port until I had a rego sticker on my car. -
Hi, I'm interested in the following parts for an R32 GTST. - Entire boot interior and trim - Rear wiper assembly - Rear interior upper panels that stick on where the seatbelts are (both sides) - stock diff That's about it. If you can PM me I'll supply an email to send me pics and price. Sydney preferred, thanks.

Hey, Fitting an intercooler from an R34 GTt into my GTST. This will hopefully turn into a DIY thread once I finish. Had to stop as light got bad today.. Everything looks prety good so far, with unscrewing all the bolts and stuff.. Just wondering if anyone has some tips on removing the plastic / rubber piping from the intercooler itself? Even with the hose clamps removed it's a bit of a struggle. BTW, I'm using the following Japanese page as a guide.. http://skyline.a-train.jp/main/ic.htm Cheers!
