Cops fooked up on my infringement notice
raz0r$harP.UK replied to danh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
No. Even if the police officer made a mistake on the ticket, it's generally still valid. I was fined recently and the officer wrote the incorrect fine amount, and was told that I had to pay the full amount regardless of what the officer wrote. I'm appealing it, but as it stands I'm responsible for the full amount. As for the lights, fog lights on when it's not foggy / during the day = distraction to other drivers = danger to other motorists. Simple. -
I was under the impression that if you lost one licence you can't get another type (eg lose car can't get a bike licence?). Yamaha YZFs, Honda CBRs are fairly cheap and pretty easy to ride. Should be able to pick up a 250cc 2nd hand for somewhere within that price range.

Here's a little excel spreadsheet I've been using to keep track of some stores / workshop..just been getting the info out of a few car magazines I've got lying around. It's mainly NSW (if there's no state it's NSW), but you guys might find it useful.

help installing apexi boost gauge
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
the airfilter - the hose from the gauge to the t-piece is actually in 2 parts with a little plastic thing in between. According to the Apexi instructions it's an air filter thing..I guess it keeps the gauge free of crap? -
hi, Need some help reinstalling an Apexi boost gauge in my Skyline. It was previously installed, then removed by dodgy bros inc..who didn't know how to connect it back so I figured I'd do it myself. - can someone tell me how to access the parking light wire to repower it? - where does the 3 way piece join to on the engine bay? I've only a single piece of hose pipe connected to the little air filter supplied, I'm guessing by the dirt that this is the part that connects the air filter to the 3way pipe. Car isn't here atm but I'm guessing the pipe from the drivers door to the engine bay is still attached. Will check tomorrow. Thanks heaps, this is the last piece of the puzzle before my ride is complete!

What's one have to do a own a GTR R33
raz0r$harP.UK replied to inasinman's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Keep your eyes and ears open . I've seen an 95 R33 GTR VSpec going for $36k and a 94 R33 GTR for $24k. Didn't enquire further as to why they were so cheap (accident damaged, caned? who knows?), but you might be lucky enough to find a geniunely cheap bargain along the way. If you're like me, and stop drinking and going out, you'd be surprised as to how much you save -
Hi! I'm toying with the idea of installing a mini PC in-car.. I think it's got a fair bit of promise..in theory anyway. Looking at a mini-pc, boxed and mounted in the boot (near the battery compartment), and then running cables to a 7" widescreen TFT LCD in-dash. With that sort of steup, I'd be able to possibly do the following: - mp3 / movie playback - gps navigation - fm tuner - software & games - connectivity to amps / speakers / sub - lcd I'm looking at has two video inputs, so I could possibly run the 2nd one to a camera for either rear view vision or one in-cabin) I guess it's kinda similar in principle to the Xbox mod thread. Dunno if it's actually worth going through, but I'm definitely looking at that as an option for my system. The main constraint for me at the moment is scraping together enough cash. In the meantime, anyone got any thoughts on the plans? Am I crazy or just a geek with too much spare time on his hands? Actually, don't answer that last one

are all premium fuels the same??
raz0r$harP.UK replied to taynewguy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Caltex (Ampol) Vortex is only about 95..as opposed to the other ones which are 98, off the top of my head. There's a stack of fuel related topics here..everyone has their own opinions / experiences. All I have to say is that when I asked my compliancers which fuel to use, they said BP Ultimate or Optimax. -
Yep, as it says. Looking for a stock intercooler for an R34 GT-T. Cheers!

Grr..I called three Nissan dealers and only one handled imports, and they said there was no factory alarm.. -
instructions for factory alarm?
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm with JustCars and they said the car has to have an alarm which meets the Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3749.1:2003) and they told me that basically it has to be a 2 point immobiliser and installed by an approved installer. He didn't know about whether the factory alarm would be sufficient.. -
Just spoke to RTA Tech Line (I love those people, seriously!), and he didn't know anything about it. Said that you have to get a pod emissions tested and certified, which I knew already. He didn't know anything about the changes though, said that it was up to the engineer to stay current with changes in the standards and make sure it's all right. So I'm not sure now. Guess I might call up an engineer later and see what he says.. Anyone know who is putting forward the change?

instructions for factory alarm?
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Looks like I'll call Nissan to find out. I only got the black key. Getting another alarm installed today because insurance wants an Aust. Approved one, feels like a bit overkill but then again if its there why not use it? Thanks all! -
instructions for factory alarm?
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah I've got a Series 2. That keyless button, is that the one on the drivers side door controls (top left) or do you have a key with that? I only got one key with no buttons. -
- learn more about my car - resist the temptation to race on the road - not let my brother crash it - decide which mod choices to make mod option a (cheap) - r34 GTT intercooler - SAFCII - 3" Exhaust - partition for pod - audio install mod option b (not as cheap) - FMIC - 3" exhaust - PowerFC - audio install - more that I can't think of now, too tired..

Just wondering if anyone has any instructions for the factory fitted (I think) alarm for the R33 GTSt. My car has a red LED to the right of the steering wheel with 'security' above it, and I've managed to turn it on sometimes (starts flashing) and when I open the boot / bonnet / car door and don't put key in the ignition, alarm goes off. But I've only been able to turn it on by accident, anyone know how to actually turn it on / off / etc? Thanks.

Got it thru Prestige..had no problems with the service from Geoff, no delays, no dramas. 3rd tier inspection - Vehicle Identification Inspection, as the RTA calls it. As far as I know some blue-slipped cars that don't come from a dealer have to go thru it, just to check that the car isn't dodgy - eg they match the compliance / vin / engine numbers, etc. Did a search about this too, and it seems that defect inspection may / may not be conducted..not that I have anything to worry about, being a STOCKER and all haha. njs - Yeh I've revised down slightly what I wanted to do, mods wise. But like you said, I'll get used to it. I give myself three months before I start thinking..

www.silviansw.com also..

I just took my car out for it's first decent drive..I'm speechless. The acceleration is crazy (as a reference I've only driven Taragos and a Mazda 1.6L Protege in the past).. Can't believe it, and you ppl with GTRs out there..whoa. Respect! Buying it was the best decision I've made all year!

..it won't fit! (number plates, that is)
raz0r$harP.UK replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
In the end I just used some longer bolts and mounted it slightly in front at both front and back.. -
Hmm, neither my front or rear slimline plates (NSW) will go on the standard spots on the 'line easily. I know that some ppl have bent / cut theirs, but I don't want to cut it (nice shiny new coloured plate) and bending it looks kinda like cop bait. I was looking at using a pair of longer bolts and some washers, anyone else done same? (Although they won't be mounted flush) Anyone got any suggestions / pics of what they've done?
