R33 Auto Box Slipping In Reverse
top13s replied to top13s's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
True didn't think of it like that. But still I'll hunt around for a conversion cheep. There out there. If I'm gonna spend 2500 for one I'll buy a half cut for the bit extra. I am thinkin of gettin another auto in the mean time -

R33 Auto Box Slipping In Reverse

there was a guy in coomera parting an r33 det wit a manual box he had 800 on the whole conversion, i jus missed out on it. ive seen a couple around for resonable prices. theres no way a manual gear box is worth 2500 for a skyline when ive seen auto boxes from $150 to $500. ive seen whole half cuts for 3k it makes buying a manual converson on its own pointless if a half cut is only another $500 i figure if i shop around one is bound to come up. but if i have to in the mean time im guessing ill get a cheep auto and bang it in for the moment. -
hey guys im tossing up wat to do atm, my 33 lost reverse yesterday atm all it does is make a whinning noise. A mate of mine rekons the box is cactus, so im keen to toss a manual in it. but i need to buy some time so i can find a manual conversion for the right price. and ive noticed you can pick up an auto box for next to nothing. I dont wanna pay more than grand for a manual conversion tops im prepared to go to $1200. i guess wat im really wanting to kno is wats the better box to run for the money, and if theres anything i can do the get somthing out of reverse till i can get a conversion

lean popping?? ive never heard a car do that before.. it is a diferent sort of popping to rich, but my bumper is black as from running rich lol so i didnt think running lean would be an issue. i wound the boost down to 9 psi thismorning, jus driving around normaly is fine but when u pin it it still does it jus not as bad. i got new plugs that are slightly hotter and i have an adjustable fuel reg to put on, the timing did cross my mind to but i wasnt to sure
-
im thinking for the moment ill go back to the hotter plugs, and ill try winding the boost down... i have ran 14 psi thro it before with out any problems, (it jus kept hitting boost cut when it spiked). i was thinking it could be a fuel issue but i have a feeling its more spark issue like the fuel isnt being ignighted properly :S i have a malpassi adjustable fuel reg to put on i just need a fuel pressure gauge to put on it and i was told to do a bigger fuel pump to go with my new gt30 turbo. i have also been told that possibly the injectors could be carboned up a lil. so they are spraying droplets instead of a mist (but this dosnt entirely make sense to me as the car has ran fine before with the hotter plug) but it does seem to foul them anyway (they carbon up then dont fire properly) wich is wat makes me think its a spark/fuel issue..... id like some one to confirm it really or tell me its a silly thing ive over looked, im not to familar with rb engines atm lol

hey guys im wondering if any one else has had this issue and how you fixed it.. my s1 r33 is spitting and carrying on from around 4k almost till red line, ive used a hotter spark plugs before but that seemed to be a tempory fix. this time i went a temp range colder and its worse than before. im running 12 pound boost on the stock det wit jus a front mount and an exhust. any help is much apreciated thanks gaz
