Already got Nulon AT fluid in it. What make of cooler have you used?

Engadine. -
I suspect I might need a bigger cooler for my m35. Gearbox is fine over short drives, but after an hour at highway speed it starts to hold onto 3 rd and 4th right up to 4000rpm under low throttle. Backing right off will get it to shift into 5th. Does that sound like a heat issue? If so, what aftermarket coolers are people using? Do you bypass the cooler in the radiator, or run them in series? Thanks.

Is that photo in Berry a few months back? Saw the car and was trying to guess who in the coffee shop owned it. Had the AXIS parked round the corner ... -
A more general Informeter question.... I've got the airbag light flashing at the moment, but the diagnostic code readout on the Informeter is reading '0' Anyone know if it's possible to get the codes to display? Or is it a case of the cars different ECU's not talking to each other and the Informeter can only display codes from the engine management?

I have a new stock radiator and thermostat as well as a 1st generation Informeter. Unless I'm really pushing it the temp sits at 90c in summer. Hume highway from Picton to Moss Vale at 120ish up the hills on a 30+ day might get to 94c. Pushing up twisty hills in the RNP produces similar results.

Thanks for the reset instructions, now I just need to hope it was cosmic rays not something expensive failing.

I'm leaning towards the slotted after doing more reading. This link (provided by GSLRallySport) pretty much describes my problem http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml Save a bit of cash and spend it on pads...

Or, if you are looking for something to do it all, maybe wait a few weeks and build something around the new AMD low power 'Zacate' chips. Start with one of these http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=qSoDxhM5mAk1F607 Add DDR3 Put it in one of these http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=15809 Power it with this http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=15958 Fill it with Hard disks. I'd run it with Linux + XBMC and software RAID for storage. Low power, but faster than an Atom based mini system. I'm thinking about setting this up to replace my Zotac ID11 when they come out.
-
Another option is to go with a mini pc. Something like a Zotac HD-ID11. http://www.zotac.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=100002〈=en I have one with a basic HD and 2Gb of RAM. Cost $400 all up. They run XBMC very well, and can use the onboard nVidia card to decode 1080p Bluray rips no problem. Advantages over a more tradition system are size and power consumption; ie they are tiny and use bugger all power. Downsides are lack of upgradability, suck for general purpose computing and you'll need a NAS / Server to store all your files.

I'm looking at getting DBA rotors for the wagon. The existing slotted discs it came with are getting too thin. They don't like the heat generated slowing the M35 down hills like Stanwell Tops and Kangaroo Valley and keep warping. Trying to decide between the DBA954X / DBA574X which are their 'Street' Gold cross drilled and the more expensive 4000 series rotors, either slotted or cross drilled. Is there anything wrong with the cheaper 'Street' brakes, I've come across a few posts where people claim they've heard of some bloke cracking cross drilled brakes, but it seems a bit like an old wives tail. I don't want to spend money pointlessly, but brakes are the place to go a bit nuts. Any other good rotor replacements for stock calipers? I've seen the RDA ones on ebay, but I can't find any good info on their full range. Thanks

Just waiting on quotes. Wow, 2 cars in one go. Watched Snatch last night, and when the 3 black guys back into the van that was 'at a funny angle' she at least looked sheepish.

Thanks for that, I'll check them out.

So the wife just backed our M35 Autech into another car... Looks like the rear bumper is a bit worse for wear, but its driveable. Can anyone recommend a repairer in the Sutherland / St George area of Sydney that knows what they are doing? Haven't called Just Cars yet to see who they will suggest, but I'd like at least one other option. On a side note, how much pain and suffering am I in for as the insurer / repairer tries to track down Autech custom bumpers?

I have Federal ss595 tyres on mine. Work well wet and dry and can be had for a reasonable price. ~$900 fitted and balanced.

Thanks for sorting this out Angus. Let us know when you need details / money.
-
Put me down for one. Let me know when you need the cash...

What he said ^ Push on the edge nearest the front of the car.
-
All done. The 3 x 1L for the diffs and ~10L for the auto with a flush was spot on.

Think of the cheap price during the week as when petrol is on sale. Fill up then and pat yourself on the back. No one bitches about happy hour at the pub...

I have about 30 sec to get stuff out before it falls unless the ground is really flat. Mine are labelled as 'STABILUS' Both side look identical, but the part / serial numbers are different. Left side: 1804RD 1125N 006/03 H16 90451 A0 010 Right side: 1896RA 1125N 013/03 E16 90450 A0 010 No idea if that helps at all.

Anyone know where to get replacement tailgate struts for the M35? Thanks.

I had a 60% blocked radiator for a while, so I wouldn't rule out cooked. Got details on the after market oil cooler? I'm noticing the gearbox seems to start hunting a little bit after getting heated up on a long highway climb. Wouldn't mind getting a bigger cooler in there if it isn't a huge expensive job.
