  1. Wouldn't it only keep it the temp lower for general running if it increased the flow rate through the radiatior? As I understand it the main difference between the stock and nismo thermo would be the temp at which it opens, but that would only be 20C max right? and the engine temp should get though that in a few min. Not trying to pick a fight, I'm just interested to know what effect one would have for normal driving use.
  2. Unless the 'nismo' label is all talk on the thermostat they must have some reason for the lower openning temp. Any ideas? Could it just be protection against heavy footed driving from cold? Anyway, the car will be off to the mechanic, or the local NatRad, depending on who can see it first. I want to take the car down the South Coast, and this kind of issue makes me nervious.
  3. Are the VQ35 thermostats compatiable with the VQ25? http://www.rhdjapan.com/nismo-low-temperat...yline-z33-55791
  4. It's only at freeway speed, so I think its unlikely to be a fan or waterpump as I think either of those would cause issue at any load.
  5. I had the m35 overheating heading down the M5 on Christmas Eve. The dash temp readout was showing the outside at about 36C. It was OK doing 80, but much faster and the temp would spike. Didn't appear to be leaking any coolant, but it was boiling in the overflow tank when I stopped to check it out. I've read some people talking about getting the radiator flushed, and the mechanic I spoke to yesterday suggested that other m35 owners had been having issues with the thermostats. Is there any know issue that causes this? Should I be looking at getting the radiator replaced with something better? Thanks.
  6. Thanks. I have a crippling fear of breaking things that prevents me from experimenting with yanking on things.
  7. Nub question, but how do you remove the front section of the air box to replace the filter? I've taken off the front 'lip' duct, unbolted the airbox itself (10mm bolt on the right), detached what I presume is the airflow meter and unclamped the rubber hose from the back of the box. But the air box is still attached to something underneath it and there isn't enough room to get front of the air box off enough to swap the filters. Suggestions?
  8. Mine drops from full to 2/3 very fast, then takes ages to go the rest of the way.
  9. It was recommended by the installer (http://www.fhrxstudios.com.au/) It talks well to 3G iPhones, and has a very adjustable EQ.
  10. DrMoShen - I have an AXIS that has had the factory stereo removed. The entire plastic dash surround has been replaced with a new one that takes a double DIN unit. It doesn't quite colour match, but you wouldn't notice at first. I've got an Eclipse CD5030 head unit installed that works really well. The radio is hooked up to the factory antenna and the reception is good. You just need an adapter to combine the two antennas.
  11. Saw an Autech 260 in the car park at work today in Kurnell. BMC-??? There is a silver S2 there sometimes as well.
  12. Got a BBQ tonight and for tomorrow lunch... +1 Pizza
  13. I'll be there. Let us know if we should bring anything.
  14. 98 is the way to go. I'm a bit suspicious of anything with Ethanol in it. Ethanol is hydrophilic (absorbs water easily) which means there is a good chance it will be taking some water into your engine unless its kept in pristine conditions. Most local petrol stations don't exactly have pristine tankage, so draw your own conclusions Its only a minor thing, but is it worth the 3 cents or 2 RON?
  15. The 3.0l 6 in the Subaru isn't light on the fuel, but neither is the M35. They both have complicated drivetrains which can be expensive. I went with the M35 as it stands out from the crowd. Liberty wagons are like fleas on a dog.
  16. If it was a White AXIS with a road bike on the roof that would of been me. I have seen a Silver AXIS getting around the shire as well. Seen it a few times in the woolies carpark at Engadine.
  17. As long as its not the 1st or the 8th I'm in. Got some bike rides to do.
  18. Might have to make an apperance with the new car. Would be good to see some other M35s to get a feel for what I can upgrade
  19. Another question... The "4WD" light is coming on from time to time. I've checked the ATTESSA reservoir in the boot; and if anything its a little over full. There is nothing noticeably wrong with the way it drives. From a bit of forum net searching I know it should be possible to extract the error codes from the ECU somehow, but the various instructions I've found are either for C34s or I can't get them to do anything on mine. Is the a foolproof way to figure out what its complaining about at home, or do I need to get it plugged into a workshops diagnostic machine? Thanks
  20. That makes sense. I did a bit of reading myself and it seems that the two antennas are designed to be slightly out of phase. They are not designed to work individually.
  21. Ok, Looks like the stereo is missing something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/1987-2008-NISSAN-DIVER...id=p3286.c0.m14 Anyone got more info on what this adapter is doing? Thanks
  22. It took me about a week to get from seeing the add to picking it up. I convinced the wife by taking her around the car yards on Saturday looking at the run of the mill cars. Showed her the Stag on Sunday and she was convinced... People at work at shocked when I tell them its an 03 car.
  23. I'll PM you the VIN. (or I will once I have 10 posts) The interior is in very good condition. By bad reception I really me no reception I guess something is disconnected somewhere. I'll have to learn how to get a hard unit out and see if its anything obvious.
  24. Its the one in the photo, but with the original Autech 18" rims, which to be honest look much better. Radio is bad with AM and FM.
