Going To Winton Tomorrow What Are The Usual Lap Times?
Syphon replied to dmac_25's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Only just behind you David -
Yeh I was there. Had a ball, my times were average, but that's what you get for your first track day Terrible amount of tracktime though unfortunately, but still a good day never the less

Pull the rear seat base up and out. 2 x 10mm bolts holding back seat in place, remove them, rip the back seat out and climb through

Could have been me, but not sure if I was out at that time. Any idea on the plates?

2000rpm and over breaking down, still sounds like either AFM Fault, or another blown hose . Re-check every hose between the afm and throttle body. If you have to remove them and check for splits on the hoses etc. It's gotta be a pretty serious intake leak to be causing this issue, so you should be able to spot it. Sounds too low down to be a spark related issue, but certainly can't rule that out. Either that or as you suggested already, over-boosting, but I doubt that at 2000rpm either. Not sure where an RB26 with std turbos obtains full boost....

You could try PWR Performance Products Australia +61 (07)5598 1499 They appear to be the only Australian distributor listed on Alcon's website.

Shame your so far away, I am after a good condition rear bar. I am in the eastern suburbs. Are you ever over this way at all, or even up near Brooklyn much and have someway of getting it here. It's too far to come and unfortunately I am never over that way and would hate to think what a courier would charge rofl. Let me know if ya up this way as some stages

Interesting topic to come up. I have an r33 with an rb20 remap in mine and am having a very similiar issue. Cold start the exhaust note "sounds" different and as you take off the turbo spools very loud, no power and all of suddden like a light switch it takes off. I have seen the issue with consult plugged into the laptop and the timing sits dead flat on 7 degrees btdc, then like a light switch at about 2200rpm, hits 30-40 degrees btdc and off it goes. If I shut the car down and restart it, 85% of the time the car will then drive normally. I know for a fact with my car that the knock sensors are faulty and am yet to bypass them in the next week to see if the problem goes away. Keep in mind mind the Power FC will not adjust the map accordingly if it senses knock, all it does it display the level of knock, unlike the standard ecu which will pull timing and add fuel as far as I gather. It's possible that the motor is a little noisy on startup and dropping the ecu into the knock map. Rather weird issue and I am clutching at straws but bypassing the knock sensors will definately tell me if that is causing the issue. I have seen my ecu produce 2 faults, one was knock sensors, the other was ignition signal. CAS possibly playing up....maybe, although i tend to think not. I need to look into the ignition signal fault and see what variables the ecu looks for to see why this would be produced. My alternator is also a little suspect. Maybe grab consult, a laptop and cable and whack it on your car before a cold start and see what fault codes come up?

Not sure if they will rebuild them but you could shoot Quadrant Suspension in Berwick a call and see if they would rebuild them.

R31 Clutch Fan / Viscous Coupling Onto R33 Gtr
Syphon replied to some_cs_student's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I understand you have already spent the money but IMO, you would be better off just biting the bullet and replacing it with a new 33 GTR one. The RB30 clutches are pretty shit, and in combination with an older fan design, they are massively noisy (think truck) and drain a stack of power in the bottom end of the rev range and thats bad enough on a 3 litre bottom end. Out of interest, how much were you quoted for the replacement GTR one? -

Brisby, try Matt @ Total Traction in Moorabbin, he installed acsplits KAAZ and yes it has been mickey mouse. The only issue I am aware of that he had related to the actual diff housing with fluid leak from a seal. He did a really good run in on the diff, way more than 20 minutes from what I gather and it has been perfect. Likewise, cazz from R31 clubs diff has had the noises, but never got a massive run in. Speak to Matt and see what he says, he is generally very cluey and may have some suggestions for you aswell as any other shop that deals with KAAZ diffs.

Hks Gt2530 Dump Pipe Recommendations?
Syphon replied to THENIG's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Probably a bit late now but since Duncan has bumped this thread I'm using one of the JJR split dumps on a HKS 2535 with no issues that I am aware of. I am running 17psi with no boost spike, and tapers off to 15psi over the rev range, which is more likely an exhaust restriction, or possibly a creaping wastegate, but certainly no issues as suggested above with massive boost spikes. Save yaself some cash and just chop the divider off the jjr and bolt the turbo up. -

I would imagine so yes. I have seen a thread or two on the forums mentioning a few things which will clean the grime out, such as mild wheel cleaners etc but I have not even attempted that at this stage. The end tanks and top and bottom straps would come up perfect with some mag wheel polish if you so desired. You barely see the cooler sitting behind a 33 bumper unless your going to chop the reo and bar to bits to expose it. Your welcome to come and have a look if your in Melbourne. -

Which Turbo For Best Response On Stagea Rb25neo?
Syphon replied to pixel8r's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Have a read through this thread to see some dyno results RB25 Dyno Results Otherwise do a search for HKS GTRS or HKS 2535. Also GCG's highflows. All of these are going to cost over $2000 for the turbo, although you might get the GCG Highflow for just under that. Most people I imagine are going to recommend the GTRS to you! Awesome turbo and good for 260rwkw plus. Some have managed around 300rwkw on this turbo with supporting mods. Hard to say costs to do a changeover, depends on what else has been modified. Presume the exhaust will need the flange changed or a different dump pipe, aswell as possibly changing the piping from the afm to turbo. PS. The GT30 won't even be waking up with such a small amount of boost in it -
Lucky it's not Victoria. They'd use it to justify more speed camera's

Anyone get any video footage of this shitbox driving miss daisy? Please feel free to send me some footage ! (thats if you hadnt fallen asleep watching it)

Sounds like fun, lucky your alright. I was driving behind a rather large truck witha big tray a couple of weeks ago that was full of steel. Behold a piece of box steel that was roughly 4 - 5 metres long, a good 20mm thick serious piece of steel, that was just balancing on top of random bits of steel sticking about half a metre above the tray top. I decided to overtake him rather than be squashed and killed by flying steel

LOL Big Red is such a handful!!! Did anyone get any footage of my car? Was the white 33 GTS-T S1 with qld plates?
