  1. I thought it was '72 but wasn't sure. Cheers Funky. .
  2. Just out of curiosity, when was the first Skyline GTR? Holdens first GTR was the LC in late 1969. What came GTR first, the Torry or the 'line? .
  3. Possibly. As I said taking out the toe out on mine cleaned it up alot. But I also changed to fresh tyres at the same time as mine were down to the belts almost on the inside, while nearly new on the outside edge. My old Torry ran 2 times the amount of camber that the 'line does and didn't track nearly as much. .
  4. My car tramlined something terrible when first I got it. From the wear on the tyres I figured it was running a shyte load of toe out. Got that taken out & some non-conical tyres & almost all the tramlining traits were gone! Take it for a wheel alignment & see how it goes. .
  5. Spotted JET R34 having a short go at a Supra on Parra Rd just east of Norton St on Saturday night. Actually, I saw it doing a Nortons lap about 20mins before that... .
  6. Put on some ol' GTR badges & a triple Strommied Red motor in it & I'll take one! /starts Photoshopping some 20 inch Sprintmasters .
  7. I drove my 1979 Torana around Sydney for 4 years with neither front nor rear bumper without a single defect. This included pink slips at several different places. As long as it had no sharp protrusions it was OK. Could have been helped by the fact that UC's still look complete without bumpers though.. .
  8. There was an R31 with a worked RB20 I saw after the Drift Nationals with 6 older style cylindrical ones on a plate on the firewall with leads to the plugs. Not sure about the electronics behind the set up unfortunately.. .
  9. 95% of driving within 15km of Central Station = 13/100km for me or 460km from full to dead empty. 200kg up, 11psi, filter, exhaust & lots of km on the odo.
  10. 188 but have all my height in my legs. I've got about an 1 1/2 inches of head room even with my near vertical driving style but by knees are up around the steering wheel. Have to drive without shoes as my workshoes simply don't fit properly in the footwell I dunno how you 198cm people do it. R32s are smaller I guess .
  11. Seeings as you've got the RB25 compressor pipe all should go to plan. But, if you have a very early R32 like mine ('89) the water lines may (& I say may) be different. The core on my stock turbo had smaller banjo bolts requiring RB25 water lines (40 or 50 bucks from JustJap). It could just be that I got an SII/R34 style turbo though. You have to tap in a connector for the pressure hose to the actuator as it fits different from R32 to 33. We put mine at the bottom of the compressor pipe. This is the only mod that had to be done. Everything else bolts straight up. .
  12. An R33 GTR sedan came up on the auction examples from J-Spec recently with a start price of 3,100,000 yen
  13. Shannons won't touch me as a daily driver in Sydney unfortunately. I've contacted them a couple of times & their reply is always 'we don't really cover cars like yours for daily driving in Sydney' I believe that its a fairly recent policy of theirs as others have got insurance with them.
  14. Whats the approximate distance (excluding the freeway back to Sydney)? Might see if the g/f feels like pizza in Gosford..
  15. I've driven 1/2 stuffed std Z32's that still out accelerate & have less body roll than any std GTS-t I've been in. The torque & suspension do a good job of hiding the 1500kgs+ from what I've seen. They do drink fuel like its free though... & have a few maintainance issues
  16. Yeah ps is almost exactly equal to bhp. A page of conversions can be found here: http://www.citroen.co.uk/conversion/c_conv...converter_rates Stall/torque converters are the fluid couplings that autos use in place of a clutch. Basically, its an internally finned, fluid filled housing attached to the engine with a fan-like impeller attached to the gearbox shaft inside it. As the finned housing turns the movement of the fluid turns the gearbox fan & inturn moves the car. Changing the design/size/angle of the blades in the converter changes it's 'hook up' (rpm range where the car begins to move significantly) properties. The idea of a 4500 stally is to delay the hook up till later in the rpm range (circa 4500rpm, but not necessarily right on it) where the engine is making plenty of power. Great for allowing big laggy turbs to spool up but not so practical for heading down to the shops due to you engine having to do 4000-5000rpm constantly to keep the car moving. Ballpark figure for a std stally would be around 1200-1800 car dependant...
  17. I paid monthly last year and it went like this: - 10% surcharge on premium - its broken into 10 installments - pay the first 2 up front then a 1/10th every month untill its paid. As Amaru said you are finished paying with 3 months to go. To save the 10% this year I paid up front because my tax refund convieniently almost matched my premium. Ben
  18. Kill switches saved my ol' Torana on more than one occasion. People used to break in to it all the time but could never take it. Couldn't tell you how many steering columns I put in it though There are plenty of sensors & systems to disable in a 'line. Unless the thieves know a towie it's good piece of mind.
  19. Meh, most 'line drivers dont notice me. The only full on wave I've had in 13 months of 'line driving was from a fellow 32 sedan owner. 33 owners I see tend to be looking a little 'hard' for the most part. For the most part I've given up waving/acknowledging other line drivers. Most people who comment or ask Q's about my car are driving something else.
  20. Saw it at the last UAS dyno day (& the engine in the dyno shed). Oh, & in the 'incriminating photos' thread. I can see that thread's going to get out of hand... Whats the Z's weight down to? Was it a 2 or 4 seater? Wouldn't have thought they'd weigh much more than an R33 GTR. Got to be happy with 25% more torque! I'm assuming the cams are tuned to maximise average power more so than top end then. I hope there's a decent turnout at the BBQ tomorrow.
  21. I was sitting at turn 3 when the bonnet went up. Shocked the crowd, I'd say your shock would have been 'slightly' greater. From where I was sitting the Z looked to be the quickest car up the hill to the bridge. I want that sort of torque!
  22. Not that safe to leave your car there as I found out. I must register my distaste for fu(king cvnts who call themselves car enthusiasts only to go to car events strategically to damage other peoples property. It was good to see my car still there when I went to leave, not so good to see it sporting 2 extra pin dents, a small back to metal gouge in the paint & sone small scratches where my front 'S' badge used to be. On the positive side there was some amazing bumper to bumper drifting by the D1 boys, not to mention the crazy circle work while sitting on top of the door. Some pretty amazing car control on display. The little AE86's definately come out of the wood work when there is a drift comp on! Boosted Zed's Z to a bit of a beating during an excursion through the tyres. This was after almost losing the bonnet on the first lap. It looks to have quite a bit of grunt, I hope not to much damage was done. .
  23. Arrrgghh. Following people in Sydney traffic who insist on driving with their SUN bright fogs on drives me up the wall. I should just tail them with my high beams on! Or... Maybe I should rig up my own 300W ones so can be cool as well.
  24. In 1 year/20000km I've replaced the alternator & my heater box has had to be bypassed due to leakage. Some of the front end rubbers are on the way out I think though. I replaced the turbs (upgraded - old one seems fine though), timing belt & all fluids not long after getting the car. Its an 89 with high kms & has been in the country for 8 or 9 years. I get 8 or 9L/100km on the highway & 13L/100km in traffic. This is with 11psi, R34 turbs, 3in turbo back & filter. If fuel economy is a big issue stick to NA cars .
  25. Lucien, Its a very new company called Sweet out at Penrith. They have done a few things like bumpers/bars, engine covers, air scoops, some std bonnets & a bike fairing. The owner has been working with FRP for years & recently turned his skills towards cars. They are currnently doing their first full custom bonnet for a guy who is entering his car in Autosalon so hopefully their work will be on display there. Will post up full details when I've got them to organise advertising and so forth in a couple of weeks. Ben
