Little Coloured Squares
cul202 replied to cul202's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
is there anyway to see who keeps adjusting the points as I seem to have gained 10 negative points since i was last on line a couple of hrs ago... Didn't realise I was that offensive -
I had an odd whistle/hissing sound in my car. Took the heat shield off to investigate & found that only 2 of the 4 bolts holdin the turbo to the exhaust manifold were there! Found 1 on the chassis rail Fixed this up & the whistle/hissing sound stopped, leaving just the sweet sound of spool up

Little Coloured Squares

k.. Cheers Christian, apparently i'm 'off the scale' . -
Just wondering about purpose/control of the little coloured squares appearing under people's avatars. They are green, black, red or in my case not coloured at all. I also noticed that some people have have a couple of red ones. Whats the G-O with these? Ta, Ben

I know I know Fuel consumption again
cul202 replied to srb 33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
run diagnostics to see if any of the sensors have ceased to play along. could be EGO sensor, crappy plugs/spark, vacuum leak etc. -

srb, base model R32 GXi's had CA18s (4cyl) but i doubt many of those made it to Aus... the rest are RB's like yours 17L/100km is bloody huge for a GTS-t I would have thought (unless you give it stick all the time). mine gets around 12.5L/100 or so in busy traffic & around 8-9L/100km on the hwy. -
as an alternative to regular bonnet pins, the XA/XB falcon GT's came with flush fitting bonnet latches. they operate with a push down & twist action & a neater way of doing things. probably a bitch to fit though

URGENT: R32 alternator question...
cul202 replied to CerealKiller's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i feel your pain, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago bolting up wise it should fit, but electrically an R32 probably has a higher current draw than a commy or aus-spec r31. also the probably would have slightly different pulley sizes due to different rpm range of two motors. I ended up putting a RB26 (some differences) one on mine. comparing the 2 would be the best way to check fitment sycorb on the forums had one for sale last week from a RB20. he's located out in campbelltown but it could be a better option. -
Interesting point raised by Jimx & busky. See how responses to that go... I have been checking responses in this thread for a while as the smoother running & faster spool up people have mentioned sounds like a good thing. Long term problems are not so good however. The pic below is one specially for Zagan's recent gearbox related comments:

spotted a very tidy looking white Ceffy on King st, newtown last night

the 32 4dr is/was a common drifter in japan. i dont think there is an extra 100kg in them, but i'm not sure. the sedan is 15mm (bit over 1%) taller & 50mm (a bit over 1%) longer. the front ends & wheelbases are the same between sedan & coupe; the extra lenth in the sedan is in the boot & rear section of the roof line. advantages: - uncommon in aus so you get a few double takes/comments about having 4 doors - slightly larger interior, front & back - easier to get into the back - larger boot disadvantages - coupe has nicer taillights - most prefer the look of the coupe but overall shape is similar - body parts probably harder to come by (not sure though)

you dont like torque dan....? j/k cant like a 1000hp motor unless you like torque a bit... to make 1000hp at, say, 9000rpm that engine would have to be making close to 790Nm@ said 9000rpm, which is a reasonable amount of torque. the main thing i was thinking with a big ol 8 in an RB car would feel alot faster BUT not necessarily BE alot faster just from the way the torque is delivered. cant really see the point in this conversion myself but its good to see people flying against the flow sometimes
-
yeah, so it is a little sacrilegious. but having driven a couple rb25s and many a worked V8, the torque delivery seems far more instantanious & brutal in the V8s. dont get me wrong though, i love taking my little rb20 past 7000rpm. and i'm not so sure of this carby business though i agree that turbos are a great way to increase torque! he should bolt on a couple of rb25 turbos onto it, then give me the keys... buwahahahaha

saw your car in the car park Adrian, but not heading down the strip. didn't you take yours down that night? bbenny had some nice top end going!
-
I think there is a few people in here with a fear of torque.... .

Highest safe boost for stock r34 turbo.
cul202 replied to Driver's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I read a lot of threads before buying a SII turbo specifically for its plastic compressor wheel for my 32. All the reports I read said that, like the earlier turbos, the ceramic exhaust wheel is the weakest link in overboosting due to the heat involved. People have said 11 or 12 psi on the street seems to be no probs but a few to many laps on a track at this level would probably mean picking the turbine out of the cat. Yet to wind mine up yet so I guess I'll find out.... -
on the positive side, people seem to be very happy with Famous' claim responses! my old roommate's S15 was insured with famous (via a broker) & had a single car accident not long after insuring it. Famous paid up close $10000 to fix the car quite quickly. after looking at the repsonses in this thread & my own experiences, Famous seems to be a good company in terms of pricing & claims (the important parts) but just a little lacking with replys/admin...
-
Hmmmm i must have done or said something to offend them.... the only call I've ever received was when they thought i had stopped paying them. fortunately i could quickly prove that payments had not stopped. oh well, i guess i'll call them later to confirm that they have received my emails
-
has anyone ever got an email reply or returned phone call from Famous? on several occasions I have emailed them or called & asked to be called back (to let me know all info was sorted etc) & NEVER had a reply. they called me once, because they briefly lost track of my direct debitting. Is this a common problem or are my emails not getting through?

What are the 1989 GTS-T differences ?
cul202 replied to predator's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I own an first series 32 GTS-t Type M & the differences i've noticed are - blue dials - interior fabric isn't that nice (looks cheaper) - slight front bar change (I actaully prefer the early bar) - slightly different projector design - rad looking clear front indicators but it still has the following as per the later 32's: - 4 spot/side at the front, 2/side at the rear - digital climate, GTR style steering wheel, power everything - viscous LSD 4.3:1 or 4.1:1 - projector headlights. essentially, the biggest change seems to be the fabric & the options (GTS25, airbags, sunroof)
