  1. I am starting to regret starting this thread and reiterate UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE RUN YOUR ROAD CARS WITHOUT A CAT.....if you are running without one, put a decent one back on and stop skimping on cash, most of the lads I know are making some decent power and if they loose a few KW from (legal compliance with a CAT) they could not care a less, reiterate they could not care a stuff if they lost 25KWATW, this would be a different story on the track where every KW matters, not on the street......NOT on the street BUY A DECENT CATALYTIC CONVERTOR..........and do not attend inspection centres without one, remember that its the minority that makes it bad for the majority us, think of the HOON stigma, just a few dipsticks out there make it bad for all of us!
  2. Yes pretty sure that with the CAT the AFR would be more accurate, however the question was .....how much power is achieved without it, we are not talking about tuning the car without the cat but merely identifying the robbing power effect from hang it and if some had removed it for interested on the dyno and what difference / increases if any did they achieve. Under not circumstances are we suggesting that a Cat be removed off of a road car, was a topic of conversation between mates is all, read the initial post, cheers
  3. Hi there, I am pretty well sold on the R34 as you have shown here, nice ride you have there, thank you for taking the trouble to post the photos, much appreciated, cheers
  4. Oops someone scanned a $10 Bill!!
  5. Now thats what my original question was, engine 4 door packages, the NEO + auto combo improved, why, what can be achieved with the NEO Engine, cheers
  6. Hey there, thanks for the suggestion but the Territory Turbo or not is a fuel guzzler and a good but heavy beast of a vehicle, skylines as are only as loud as you make them as with the suspension I run Tein Super Street on the GTR and is aok in the comfort dept, had an XR6 great engines but fuel guzzler :-(
  7. Yes I certainly have considered a 33 like your, in actual fact consider yours perfect colour etc, very nice ride, and perfect in the Black!! would look nice with my 32 :-)
  8. Lets move away from the Stagea, am considering 4 Door R34, what are these Neo Turbos like, in comparison to the others, no only really of the RB26's having a GTR, advice please
  9. Yeah, am thinking Stagea too, mmm, be nice to have a second Rb26.......except.......this is the second car, would be trading the wifes tiida am unfortunately what this means it that we would need to go......yeah dare I say it.....auto :-)
  10. Hi there, have a bub on the way, will keep my GTR however am considering a 4 door skyline of some sort, would love an RB26 combo but am sure that they are few and far between. Should I import a newy, R34 Neo Turbo, what are your thoughts, cheers
  11. I had a look at the dyno again, you are referring to the manifold boost pressure, nothing wriiten on the second run relating to boost? maybe I am reading it wrong
  12. Part Number <LI>ES-NS-13-CAT-B3 metal hiflow cat [32cm long / 4 1/2" round] http://www.bestmufflers.com/bshop/index.php?cPath=329
  13. Hi there NSNPWR, the cat is a Metal Type X-Force which works well, reiterating this is the Canon Version, I would not even consider the flat bodied at all. I the original pics you will see the heat shield, well if you purchase this be aware that the heat shield faces up toward the car as it should, cheers
  14. This was a good upgrade over the factory cat which was replaced as it had signs of internal cracking, also the sound opened up nicely.
  15. Hey there, 208 to 230kw, as I thought and this was with a smaller engine but running considerable boost, thanks for the reply, is good that we got some communication going here, was starting to think that I am too much of an old fart, also "XRATED" really good to chat to someone from the states, nice to see that the GTR's are making a statement there too, ofcourse I still have the love for the Mopar Muscle and occasionally enjoy a cruise in my cousins 68 Dodge Charger, 400 stroked to 500 cubes, has a bit of curry :-) (visiting Plymouth Cuda Project here currently) and for those others out there who seem confused about this post, this post was not intented to suggest the removal of CATS on the road NOT even an option........it was clearly in reference to the results on a dyno in a controlled environment to satisfy a debate between mates, cheers
  16. Cheers mate, not sure what riteeeeee actually means, maybe us old guys that dabble in mopar muscle but have an appreciation for gtr's should chat elsewhere, dont seem to be going anywhere here, lol
  17. Hi there, the question was purely to answer a debate with the mates and specifically tests on a dyno, no intentions of driving a decat on the streets, discussions also related to the Lean Burn on the old CL Chryslers and different cam combinations that Chrysler and Ford implimented in 1976, huge decreases in power but they had no catalytic convertors back then....................pretty sure no one here would be interested in discussing the old Chryslers and Fords any further, we all agreed how the polution gear robbed the power output as it is clearly written, nothing much on the effect of cats though which happened years later, cheers and thanks for coming back to me.
  18. Hi guys and gals, having a discussion with the lads and we have varying ideas relating to anti-polution OBI 1 - 2 etc some think that a decat can net some huge gains of up to 25kw atw on a health RB26 - N1 spec turbos, 1 bar, others disagree, there really is nothing much on the net relating to a RB25 or 26 decat and with cat dyno results, only other makes and models of cars, experience here guys and gals, what were your results on the dyno? cheers
  19. Hi there, thank you for taking the time and providing me a solution with another brand over Garrett, however without disregarding what I have learnt here can you advise me if there is any Garrett Turbo Charger as a direct replacement over standard which would provide minimal lag and alternative over HKS etc The question may be asked why........? the only answer being I want to keep the old girl fairly original (a change for me) as in original brand name parts to achieve a better result and achieve reliability. Turbo's to still be Garrett, what would the model number should I source, appreciate your help, cheers
  20. Hi there, can you elaborate, "a bugger if non ferrous metal" ?? cheers
  21. Cheers mate, did not think of something as simple as a magnet, turns out that the exhaust wheel is definately ceramic as with the nut holding it together, what are your thoughts about fitting these out with metal wheels and 360 degree thrust bearing? Can I then run a couple pounds boost above the 1 bar currently?
  22. Hi Guys and Gals, bought these turbos second hand however they appear to have different exhaust wheels than that of a mates R34, these have more fins on the exhaust, how can I tell if they are metal or upgraded wheels? Here are some photos
  23. Hi all, have an R32GTR basically standard running 1 bar boost max, big exhaust , pods + mines computer, just wondering if I should be adventurous and steer away from the BP Ultimate and try maybe the Ethanol 100 or even the AvGas Racing fuel, obviously Racing fuel would require the removal of the cat and used for track however would I need to tinker with the computer for the higher octane or would it sort it self out. I have never heard a ping or had any knocks to date and it is powering as a healty GTR should. I have had muscle cars, non fuel injected but not to be sneezed at by any means, those larger v8s were very receptive to racing fuel and immediately driveable.
  24. Cheers Thanks everyone!! will give it a go!
