you got the front calipers?
Interested if you do
-
Very interested in the turbo and pod, PM sent
-
sounds like your mechanic is a dodgy motherf**ker who's trying to stooge you out of your hard earned. go elsewhere, for all we know they could have deliberately knocked the timing back or something so that you think it needs additional work done. I've seen that done before (timing retarded deliberately by workshop so that non technical person thinks their car needs "tuning")
Gonna take it to specialist import mechanic on monday, 200$ for the DIAG though, just to tell me what this other guy has broken.

Ok, hope it works,
anyone else got some thoughts on the matter? Or can someone recommend a good mechanic around the inner west area?
-
He has apparently reset the ECU, he said something about error codes coming up and it would be expensive to trace them.
-
Ok long story short, I had to put my r33 back to stock because it was defected and sent for a DECC inspection. This meant that i had to remove the
- Pod filter
- high flow cat stainless exhaust, large cannon
- 2 stage Boost controller
- Front mount intercooler
to get it passed.
It ran horribly after those things were all taken off and replaced with stock parts.
Not last monday but the monday before i took the car back to a specialist performance mechanic who took the parts off, to get everything put back on, cause i finally got the car cleared.
BUT, they after they re-attached everything, they can't get the car to run properly, and i've been told its unsafe to drive in its current state and that i will need to buy an apexi power FC for 1.5k, or some other computer that they told me was like 3.5k new, cause they can't get the car to run properly. Thats not including time spent tuning it.
Are these guys messing with me? The car ran fine with the stock computer and all these mods before i got defected, i know cause I had it up over 180 and the thing was purring. Now they are afraid to put it on the DYNO cause they don't want to blow it up.
What the hell should i do?

looks just like the X5 in my pics so yeah sweet, passable cat.
Man, this just gets crazier.
I spoke to JustJap @ kirrawee and the guy there told me that by law they have to destroy the original nissan cats that come off the car when they arrive here in Australia.
These being the cats that the DECC say you need to pass your car.
im f**king lost hey.

Yeah for something that sells for 270 and is almost new seems like a good price to me

so basically they want you to return the cat to the "non adr approved" japanese version to pass a test am i getting this right?
That is correct, i have even called and spoken with the one guy responsible for approving these things at the DECC.
Greg somebody, and he is just painfully uncaring.
He will give you the following options
1. Use non standard cat and pass an RTA emmsions test
2. Get the non ADR original nissan CAT and get it passed DECC inspection
Believe me i tried to sort this out and get him to f**king see sense over this. Basically their reasoning is they can't trust mechanics or engineers or US. So unless you have compliance papers for your car, no deal. He even said if you get compliance papers now that youve been defected it wouldnt matter, you still have to go for an emmisions test again!
Good times
-
i have a few adr approved compliance cats here is that what you require?? if so pm me they have flanges on the fo direct bolt in replacement
No they wont pass the ADR compliance cats, trust me i have one ont he car atm.
The DECC specifically want the original nissan parts that get taken off the car for compliance, i know it hard to understand but its the reality we seem to be faced with.
The cats have and X3, X4, X5, stamped on the bottom, some have a nissan stamp also.
If you have one that fits the above criteria PM me!
-
got a stock r33 ser2 cat if you want it. pm me or call 0421561681.. in gc qld
Hey guys, sorry no internet for the last couple days.
Um yes the cat was actually x4 and x5 stamped on it on the bottom (the mechanic is dyslexic apparently and told me it was x3, until off course i saw the photos and its clearly a 4), the X5 one looks more like a plate attached to the bottom of cat .
So yeah anyone with a DECC passed cat, i will take it.
The DECC guy in Cambpelltown who is apparently the best to go to has given me two photographs, it the cats dont look like one or the other, he wont pass em.
Will upload photos tomoz.
Will be PMing everyone who has replied here

well id say you wont find one at that price again, your price is reasonable mate
Yeah for something that sells for 270 and is almost new seems like a good price to me
But since its xmas heres a special deal
150$ + free postage to get rid of it

coil packs are over priced sell them for $280

-

Yeah you won't believe this but I currently have a Stock Standard ADR approved compliance Catalytic converter on my R33 and when i went for the DECC inspection (i got defected for noise levels a while ago and sent to the decc) , the guy at the DECC inspection has defected me for the cat because i dont have the compliance papers. 2nd hand owner here...
So I've been defected again for a compliance CAT!
I need some help from the good natured people on this forum, because the only one i can find the guy wants 850$ for. And i only need it for a day! Im not paying that for a cat most people throw away.
Anyway the part im looking for to get past this DECC test is as far as i know the Stock CAT for an R33 Series 2, or it also comes off a Nissan Maxima 1998 - 2001 models
The cat will have X3 or X5 stamped on the bottom of them. I can post up some pics tomorrow.
Does anyone have one for Sale, or will to let me borrow/rent for a few days, else my car gets de-registered....
Even if someone has the full exhaust system i will take that.
Call me on 0401016609, names Simon
Thanks

Nah i need bone stock else it gets failed @ decc, they are somewhat anal about it.
Looks like i found one, mods can close thread
-
will they pass the FMIC? probably have to wack the stock smic & piping back on there
Yeah i've been convinced to do just that.
Mods can close or delete this post if you want.
-
that snorkel has been modified to fit piping , you will need to cut the snorkel and can keep the current piping
Spose the question then is does that fall into a f*&king modication to the car which is gonna get failed.
-
Heya, Trying to get stuff sorted for DECC test and realised while installing airbox and snorkel, that the FMIC piping to the plenum intake blocks the snorkel being attached.
I dont have any way of attaching the snorkel now, which is a requirement for the DECC to pass your car.
IVE ATTACHED, a screenshot of exactly what i mean. Please have a look, and if anyone can help out contact me on 0401016609 names Simon
PM me also, but leave you number, the PM system here is somewhat annoying.
Thanks peps.
