  1. It's official. Public Meeting to support the Adelaide Motorplex to be held at the Masonic Centre, Commercial Rd Pt Adelaide, Sunday, August 23, 2pm. Protest/Rally at Parliament House, TBA (to be mid Sept-Early Oct). Further updates www.adelaidemotorplex.com.au
  2. Hi again, the revised Adelaide Motorplex website is up and running www.adelaidemotorplex.com.au . Clubs and Businesses register on the online form, and everyone feel free to leave comments in the Guestbook.
  3. Not my work so can't take the credit , keep posting it around the place. I know it's already travelling through the US.
  4. Secretly recorded by sympathetic government staff. http://gs73.photobucket.com/groups/i208/BK...cretMeeting.flv
  5. Hi all, Due to the completely overwhelming response to the public meeting/protest, the dates will have to be revised. Since the announcement less than 48hrs ago we have received requests from interstate car clubs, race teams, companies and many individuals who wish to attend in support of our situation in SA. Unfortunately due to the relatively short notice this has made it difficult for them to attend and support us in our fight. As we wish to make the biggest statement possible to the State Government we have decided to revise the dates of the public meeting (was Sunday August 16) and the Protest (was Friday August 28 ) We apologise to those who have organized time off work for the Protest, however in order to maximize the impact and to achieve our desired outcome, this is necessary. I'm sure you all realize how big this Protest is turning out, and we want it to be the best it can be for everyone of us. For future news, developments and the revised dates/times of the protest go to adelaidemotorplex.com.au This page should be up and running in the next few days featuring regular updates. Also visit our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=132341252872&ref=nf# :)/http://www.facebook.com/group.php?g...72&ref=nf# if you haven't already. That's all for now and thanks to everyone who wants to make it happen.
  6. To hold an official protest at Parliament House you need a permit issued by the police.
  7. Hi all, post this on all the forums you can at let everyone know!!! A website will soon be up and running with all the details. There will be a public meeting being held in Pt Adelaide at 2pm on Sunday the 16th of August (location to be confirmed) at which all people who have an interest in the proposed Pt Adelaide Motorplex will have an opportunity to not only to hear from the consortium themselves, also from politicians, guest speakers etc. This will be followed by a protest at Parliament House, Nth Tce in the city on Friday the 28th of August at 5pm that will bring the city to a standstill. Police permits will be arranged and we expect total co-operation of the Police. Everyone is to be on their best behavior as there will be a huge media presence. Bring your cars and your family. The events will be self policed so if you see someone doing something stupid that could harm the image of the modified car/motorsport community don't hesitate to report it. We are an important part of the community and we (who do the right thing) deserve better treatment from the Media and the Government. Consider this - A footballer only has to purchase a Guernsey, shorts, some boots and pay his subs to play (the government and councils generally supply all the ovals and facilities). Someone involved in modified cars/motorsport probably spends on average around $30,000 to 'play', whilst at the same time much of that money goes into local businesses creating jobs and apprenticeships. Not only do we not have a place to play, we have a situation where by a private consortium, who wishes to build the track on the land the government offered them (and which the consortium offered to purchase or lease off of the government), with no taxpayer input required, has the offer knocked back because it will 'create more hoons on the public roads'. If you want this Motorplex to become a reality, and can see all the positives for SA that will go with it, just spend a couple of hours of your life to attend the meeting and then the protest, making it one of the noisiest protests in SA history! This is our one chance to show that we, the modified car/motorsport/business community are more than a just bunch of hoons who are a drain on society. Enough is Enough!!! Stay tuned for more news!
  8. Just a quick correction re the above post. This is not about re-opening AIR. This is for the proposed Pt Adelaide venue. Yesterdays meeting was for 1320 Motorsport Inc. Tonight's is purely a logistical/planning meeting (dates/venues etc.) for the public meeting, then followed by the protest. I'll let RubyRS4 get back to you all tonight/tomorrow with the full story
  9. Hi all, Apollogies if this is not posted in the correct place, just thought some of you may be interested. Just letting everyone know a new drag racing club is starting up '1320 Motorsport Inc' , first meeting this Sunday at 1pm at Shannons offices at 863 South Rd, Clarence Gardens. The club is based on having special guests talk about new products as well a seminar based sessions with Adelaide's and Australia's best engine builders/chassis gurus/drivers/team owners etc. These will cover everything from traditional V8's/Carbs through to the latest Turbo/Import developments, EFI, Data Acquisition Systems etc. Let us know what you want to know and we'll find the best! We also plan to have a strong road safety focus. Businesses are also encouraged to join as we want to create a formal register for aftermarket businesses that serve the modified car/motorsport industry in this state, similar to what the MTA/RAA has done. Also with this club our aim is not to have formal part of the meetings bogged down with endless argument/discussion over the track etc. There will be plenty of time before and after to discuss the subject informally. This first meeting is to let you all know what we are trying to achieve as a club and bring everyone up to speed on whats happening re the track etc. Questions re the track are most welcome at this meeting. It will be fairly informal so let anyone who would be interested know. Also if anyone could help us with posting this info on the relevant websites around the place it would be greatly appreciated. We also welcome any members/representatives from other car clubs as we have some 'plans' we would like to discuss to address the negative media regarding car clubs/drag racing/modified cars. Let all interested know and we hope to see you there this Sunday (19th July) 1320 Motorsport Committee
