Martin what were you racing that had a better 0-60 time than you? Your car seems like it'd hammer 0-60 with the Bee*R launcher when I was in it the other day it seemed like boost come on around the same time as mine, and if I launch mine at 3.5K it flies. It even eats gabnrs for dinner launching on 3.5k

So... to add to the Autobarn stories. I call 4 Autobarns today. Same question to all of them "Do you have any SCREW ON shift knobs? I need one with a ten mil thread" all of them say "no" except Lawnton who say "Yep, sure do. They're universal fit" So I ask "It's not those allen key thread ones is it? They don't fit my car, it HAS to be a screw on knob" "Yeah, they're universal screw on. They have adapters, come on in and we'll sort it out for you" So I drive out to Lawnton to find those stupid knobs with the 3 allen key threads. The exact kind of knob that doesn't fit my car. The dude says "But they do screw on, you screw the little bolts on and it sits there". I almost bitched slapped the useless SOB upside the head. Tried 6 different wreckers on the way home and finally stumbled upon a Navara shift knob. The guy wanted $5 for it, so I bought it and giggled to myself as I put a 4WD shifter on the GTS4. Autobarn can burn in hell

Dan - thanks for the tip. I might check them out next time. Right now though auto electricians are on the top of my kill list. so... for those of you playing along... an update on the FO': Power steering is probably the belt. We forgot to change it Brake lights - still playing up Reverse lights - still playing up Head unit - now wired up and working like a dream thanks to Jack at Phantom Motors (side note for Martin & Dan: My pioneer speakers are rooted, so I need new 6" speakers. Just going to buy 4 6" speakers the same and save the headache of trying to get those 6x9s in the doors). Amp - working fine Dome light - working Headlight - still need new globe Map lights - still need one globe Paintwork - filthy - car wash tomorrow night?

nah, no remote start for me I wanted a remote start alarm, but really just needed an alarm in and going to insure the car. Kinda just planned on keeping the mongoose for a while and changing over down the track. Kinda wish I had have just gone with the one I wanted from the start now though. To answer your question - just leave it in neutral all the time like I do my serious question - does your remote start work when the steering lock is on? At this point in time, I highly doubt the boot an bonnet pins are wired up/even installed. Figured the doors would have at least been something standard that was done on every car. Need to get it sorted out ASAP though, because my insurance doesn't actually cover me unless I have an immobiliser AND an alarm installed. Granted I've not yet checked the power steering fluid, but I figured it'd be full because everything else was when I bought the car. And knowing my luck, it's more likely to be the pump. No warning light on though (don't know if there is even a warning light for it on the dash?) Not the end of the world as I hate power steering anyway... it was just that it was one more thing to frustrate me after getting raped by the auto electrician. Hope you find a unit soon dude. Share housing sucks hairy jew nuts Not them, but thanks anyway dude. thanks for the input guys. there was something else I was going to say but can't remember... *shrug*

It's the reverse switch that is faulty apparently... telling me the gearbox has to be dropped to replace it (bs) The brake light problem seems to be intermittent. Sometimes all four light up and the spoiler, sometimes the two centers lights up plus the spoiler, and sometimes just the two centers on their own. The alarm doesn't go off when the boot/bonnet/or doors are opened (when armed) - and the turbo timer doesn't work one out of every ten times the car is turned off (usually when I really WANT it to turn on too). and yeah, we'll have to investigate further with the head unit, and see if we can work out what's what. oh, and on the way home the steering seemed to lose power. so that's probably the pump. GRRRRR!

Going to go and pick it up shortly. Really wish the idiots had have called me BEFORE they did any work though. Charging me $385 in labour because it took so long to try and track down a new unit for the fan... which they couldn't find, and wound up getting some holden unit, and that's another $80. If they had have just ASKED me, I would have said 'don't worry about it' bought one from the classifieds or wherever, and plugged it in myself. The fan wasn't even that much of an issue ffs. Then they tell me a mechanic needs to do the reverse light. That my brake lights work fine (two witnesses say otherwise, as well as me braking outside a window at home every day) and that they've done nothing with the head unit or the alarm. Not impressed. at all. Really pissed off would probably be a more appropriate description. So don't anybody ever bother using Chermside Auto Electrical in Boothy Street at Kedron
