  1. Might drop in to say G'day. Might even have a run on the rollers if there is a spot for "one of them". Be a nice comparison of power levels and where they make it.
  2. I use the "smudge" effect in Microsoft Photo Editor to edit out number plates. Nice shots Sam.
  3. Yep, 100% untrue. Suspicion of non compliance of a vehicle is all they need. If you said no, they could defect you simply for their suspicion. Onus is on the driver to prove compliance, not the officer to prove non-compliance.
  4. The weather was G A Y.
  5. Lower calorific value = less energy per litre = more fuel consumption for same distance.
  6. Ethanol contains oxygen (CH3CH2OH) and therefore the fuel provides some of the oxygen required for combusion itself. Therefore, if tuning is not altered, for the same mass of air and fuel, there will be less unused fuel in the exhaust, which will be read as a "leaner AFR". Yes, the cooling effect you explain also sounds likely.
  7. MV Automatics certainly get a good rap from everyone I know who has been there. Unfortunately Oosh was slightly mistaken, in that my shifts have been tweaked by electronically increasing line pressure, not by upgraded hardware. Full control of the factory PCM is a wonderful thing.
  8. Roy, less than 2 hours from Nth Adelaide to Mallala. It's only about 60kms, but "whereis" reckons 2 hrs 15 minutes. I say less.
  9. Got this off their site for you. Couldn't find a list of "approved manufacturers" though.
  10. I think I spotted the same GTR 34 this morning!
  11. Ok, I have done a little bit more research on this fuel. Speaking to Martin Donnon today, it turns out this fuel CAN be a good thing. If tuned for this "boost 98" every car he's seen has picked up power in comparison to regular 98 octane fuel. There is a catch however. He showed me some dyno graphs, and just by changing to this from another 98RON fuel, the car LEANED OUT BY A FULL AFR POINT (ie 12.5-13.5). This would explain the increase in performance experienced by owners of cars with factory style rich tunes, but if your car is tuned on regular 98, and is "on the edge" I would steer clear, it could give you problems. Joel, did you end up getting any? Do any logging of your car and the differences between fuels?
  12. Ah, there you go then!!! Ethanol is crap as a fuel. Forget the hype, it may not hurt your engine, but it will hurt your pocket! Ethanol has a calorific value of 1/2 - 2/3 that of petrol. That means, the same volume of ethanol will produce less energy than petrol. SO, it might be cheaper, but your fuel economy will suffer.
  13. Any number plate not manufactured by a Transport SA approved manufacturer (I think there's only 1 in SA) is 100% illegal. I'ven been warned for plates before on a previous car, so I did some research. Basically only the ones they issue are ok.
  14. That depends - on if he is wearing his sports cardigan or not!!!
  15. Yes, it's also the lowest sulphur content fuel on the market at present, which is good if you care about trees and stuff.
  16. Interesting to hear people say "if it's 98 it should be just as good as the others" Ask some questions of some people who have used optimax (not available in SA) and listen to the responses. Plenty will never use it again. Also, I wouldn't buy fuel from a servo that didn't sell a lot of it. This high octane unleaded goes off, so if they aren't selling a lot and getting topped up frequently you might get a stale batch. The moral of the story - always buy fuel from a busy servo.
  17. You were out somewhere already. Pawley or John did ring you, cos they said they did when they rang me! It's all good Melly, just playing with ya! Have to catch up with you guys again soon.
  18. Ooooh, pick me, pick me, I wanna know!!! Sorry to have missed you the other night at "the Munro's" - I hear you and Timmay bailed when you heard me and the wife were coming over!
  19. I hope it's there when he gets home! It can be towed for parking on the road while having no rego!
  20. um, sif sticky the wasteland
  21. Sounds like it might have been the Pawleymobile!
  22. Black, if at all. The last thing a Skyline needs is something to make it attract MORE attention! (especially one that will spend as much time on the road as yours mate)
  23. I just can't stop laughing any time I read about your "stock" 34. Also, Vegas will DRAIN your cash, not give you more. You know it.
  24. You thought right!
  25. Eyebrow height is different for different cars. You can ring them and find out what the min specs are for your car.
