  1. Speaking of Tough cefiro's... god damn!! the amount of smoke HYPAA31 was pouring off those tyres at yesterday's toyo drift comp..... WOW!!!
  2. any gtr in rwd full stop is crazy enough... let alone adding good power and/or wet weather to the equation lol! ohhhh, how i miss the good ol days. (sorry, just wanted to add my 2c to your post )
  3. NOW $16K for a quick sale peoples!! you'll be hard pressed to find another car in this good a condition... come and get it
  4. They all work... do you know how easy those things are to by-pass? it's actually quite scary. (IMO) Hidden kill switches set up for different parts of the engine (eg fuel rail) would actually be more effective as there's no standards for what they're connected to and there's no standard location for where they are.
  5. fark! sorry to hear man, she looked sweet. I know exactly how you feel though and, unfortunately, I don't hold much hope for you getting it back hate to put that on you but mine was stolen in jan (check sig) and not even a glimpse of it since
  6. Champion efforts guys, thanks a ton
  7. Hey all, long story short (actually, short story short), I want to buy something as simple as a cap (i reckon it looks kool lol!) it's a blitz one, I've found it on the blitz.co.jp website... now.... where in aus can i get it? or how do i manage to order it from Blitz in lovely japland? (can't find it anywhere in aus and can't read the blitz website to contact them re: sending it ova here) (damn, i can't beleive i'm going to this much effort to buy a fkn hat lol!) here's a link for y'all to see, it's at the very top http://www.blitz.co.jp/online-shop/online-goods.htm Any help appreciated. Cheers, Dave.
  8. ha ha! I second that... man, you have WAYYYY too much time on your hands. also: what is the purpose of the little shield half way up the bonnet?
  9. ha ha ha! something tells me that survey is pretty accurate (looks at signature)
  10. lol... yeah, i left the 3k blow out off the list because i wanted to stop adding things to it before the costs got too high lol! even if i crack it with an rb20e / de though, the fact will remain that I can't do much about it till i get this other stuff sorted (GTR), then the plan is to pretty much do it all at once anyway. The only advantage of getting a cheap one now is i can do simple stuff like bodykit / bodywork / wheels / interior work etc that wont cost much (and can keep me occupied). Then, when the GTR issue is sorted, she's off for an engine swap he he!
  11. lol! yeah, i thought you'd missed it thanks man, yeah, it sucks but hopefully (somewhere in the next 12 months ), i'll get some retribution. edit: just came home and saw the pic... yeah, that's the one that i spoke to the previous owner about a trade. Damn sweet ride! - my offer still stands, remains + complete ownership of my R for that ceffy ha ha!
  12. ahhh... but not pushing heavily on engine mods / power will save me that hassle as with the support I'm giving the engine in the mods (oil cooler, front facing plenum and front mount etc etc etc)... alll little things to make it more relaible whilst adding to the power slowly hehe! (probably gonna get flamed for that but i know how it's gonna be looked after so makes perfect sense to me lol )
  13. henry...? hmmm, i think that's the bloke that i spoke to about a trade on the GTR. unfortunately i missed out because i wanted some money for a home deposit. top bloke though and fkn awesome car. I can't see the pic now so i'll have to wait till i get home (for some reason i think the firewall is blocking it here at work - it does that now and then). I'll do you a deal. I will trade you what's left of my GTR plus full ownership for your rb26 cefiro?
  14. ha ha ha! besides the cringing thought of replacing a nissan engine with a toyota one (only shit stirring, no-one need get on the defence)... won't it work out more expensive doing a 1jz as apposed to a rb25?
  15. man... with the pain I've been through in the last 6 months, I want my next car to be as fun as i can. honestly though... for what i want, there's not many places I can cut back though is there? Keeping in mind I want solid reliability. I could do without the 5 stud conversion as that's more for wheel choice than anything (whack on some 33GTR rims) and I'm more than happy to stay with 4 stud wheels (buy some brand new ones for the same money - obviously nothing super good) but as we've been saying and as you've said, the other option I'll have is to buy something pre-built and just make any minor changes I want. on a side note... got some pics for me to add to my collection? lol
  16. as you can see... for a 3k car, it's not a cheap build up lol! the other avenue is: p.o.s. NA Auto Cef $3,000.00 RB26DETT F/cut $6,000.00 Tail Shaft $100.00 Engine freshen-up $1,200.00 Gearbox access. $100.00 Clutch $1,300.00 Flywheel $600.00 Conversion $1,000.00 Fuel Pump $300.00 5 stud conversion $600.00 Brakes (rotors / pads etc) $500.00 respray / body work $3,500.00 wsx kit $1,500.00 Drift style Hand brake $400.00 Engine Damper $90.00 Oil Cooler Kit $400.00 Exhaust $800.00 Wheels / Tyres $1,500.00 F + B Strut braces $300.00 Suspension $1,500.00 $24,690.00 But, i think the most important thing to keep in mind is... minimal engine expenses / mods. which means we're back to square one... rb25 or sr20? (based on a close to stock engine) - difficult little so and so aren't i??
  17. Thanks again CC, a lot of good info there... the SR is sounding like a better option now... funky: definitely not going for a dyno beast lol, she'll be a drift bitch The plan is though, to save as much on engine mods as I can and use good suspension / wheels and tyre choices to get the most effective package I can. I think the most important thing that people have brought up is the front end weight (as the last thing you want in a drifter is a lot of front end weight 'causing understeer). I pretty much know exactly what I want and, as you've pointed out, I'm always thinking I'll be changing this and that when i look at pre-build ones from japland which makes it harder to work out the plan of attack. BUT... on the other hand, there's a few things a pre-build one could come with that I haven't allowed for (diff being the first that comes to mind, aftermarket turbo / management being an instant no. 2) lol! i'm expecting it to be somewhere between now and 12 months from now and, unfortunately, I have no control over that what so ever... but, as the topic started (and as your post mentions as well), if i can get a cheapo for the right money, then i can start now and build it up over that 12 months (the way i want) leaving less to spend when i finally get the money Ok... so to make more sense... here's the plan I've sketched up. if anything doesn't make sense, let me know and i'll try explain. Some things may seem a little cheap but they may be because i should be able to get them for that price (contacts). Either way, let me know what you think. p.o.s. NA Auto Cef $3,000.00 RB25DET F/cut $3,500.00 Tail Shaft $100.00 Engine freshen-up $1,000.00 Gearbox access. $100.00 Clutch $700.00 Flywheel $450.00 Conversion $1,000.00 Fuel Pump $300.00 FMIC Kit w/ Plenum $3,500.00 5 stud conversion $600.00 Brakes (rotors / pads etc) $500.00 respray / body work $3,500.00 wsx kit $1,500.00 Drift style Hand brake $400.00 Engine Damper $90.00 Oil Cooler Kit $400.00 Exhaust $800.00 Wheels / Tyres $1,500.00 F + B Strut braces $300.00 Suspension $1,500.00 $24,740.00
  18. Thanks Ando, personal opinion... which would you go? *sr20det with FMIC, something along the likes of a 30/40 (may be fairly laggy, maye something smaller), bit of boost and a tune OR *rb25det with fmic, boost, front facing plenum and a tune. i think in the end, if it came to it, i'd go an RB25 in a cef but as i said before, the other thing I'm contemplating is an ichi go S13 so, be good to know if that's even worth thinking of at all.
  19. Hey CC, can you elaborate a little for me man? as i said, I owned a 32 GTS-t and I've driven a 33... the 32 was laggy and lacking power but the 33 (in pretty much stock trim) seemed ideal. Ultimately the GTR was fkn beautiful!! but not sure I want to go down the RB26 path. how'd the SR feel in your ceffy? was it laggy etc? can't remember what turbs you had so that would have made a big difference as well yeah? basically, I like to be able to drop my foot at low revs and get the sucker spinning up / sliding... the 33 was excellent at this, the 32 (from what I remember) needed much higher revs for the same result (and once again, the GTR - FKN BEAUTIFUL! lol!) Cheers, Dave.
  20. ha ha! nice try... been there, done that. I've already been the proud owner of 2 beautiful 32's man (GTS-t and GTR), I'm after something different
  21. yeah, I think in the long run I'll be better off hanging in and getting one that's already done. Should save me time and money (and effort). Just have to wait and see I guess.
  22. Now we're talking! Thanks man, I just don't frequent the site enough to see these ones (how often they come up / how good the pricing is etc)... they slip through the cracks between my visits lol! moral to the story (as you've pointed out) sit tight till i get this otha sh*t sorted, get one already converted, use the extra money on all the goodies I can buy lol! http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/1097 Drift Limo: I EVNY YOU!!! next question... how's the SR20's for power, responsiveness and feel? I remember my 32 GTS-t was laaaaaaggy and lacked bottom end power which is why i want an rb25 cef (driven a 33 gts-t, very impressed) but, if i don't go a cef, my next plan is an ichi go S13 with an sr20... so how do the engines rate?
  23. That's exactly the answer I was after! cheers man. just realised myself actually... how stupid would i be to get an auto, na cef for free when i could get an rb20det one for around the same price. *slaps self over head* especially when i'll be doing a conversion (since an rb20det will re-coup more money than an na, auto and I can just get a manual to save on pedal sets etc). ok, so assuming you charged a 1k service fee (?). it cost the customer 4500 in approvals, freight, customs duties, quarantine, etc etc yeah? is there anywhere the customer could have saved money here (hypothetically of course, I don't expect you to turn around and say "oh yeah, we made him pay twice as much for this as he should..." etc ) - also, assuming by the panadol comment, there where things that needed to be sorted out with the car in aus?? Cheers.
