i bought a 1999 S2, RS4-S 5 speed with 64,000 on the clock for $15,000 3 years ago. so its a R34 engine with the R33 GTR running gear. Best car i have ever had, its a wagon but drives and sticks to the road like a sedan. The response through the steering wheel is like driving a go-cart so fast and nimble. Im a hills driver and its unreal what you can get away with man. (i used to have a RX7 half the weight and i can go harder in this thing that that.) The turbo's are puss though, they are made from plastic well nylon bearings anyway so if you want to do hard hills driving (on off boost heaps) you will melt and warp the internals of the turbo eventually. I got to 80,000 in mine and the turbo was literally melted. Decided to go for a rebuild/ high flow on the turbo insted of bolting some massive lagy snail on it. The rebuild was 2000 buks and the thing is indestructible now. it can take over 20psi boost Did an exhaust, air pod, mid sized inter-cooler (i recon big inter-coolers promote lag), new shockers and clutch just recently and the thing is a dream to drive and it blows off new Holden's and Fords with out an issue. I can put our new born in it and drive normally/ sensible and when he and the misses are out, i can Cain the crap out of it and not have to worry. If you drive these cars like a nanna then you never have an issue. If you like to give it some stick then u will go through the normal clutches frequent oil and filter changes, tyres etc alot more. but thats with any car, the difference whit these things u feel safe and in control doing it. I really feel like i ranted on a bit dude but i love these things and you need to get one

Truth is the government doesnt care as long as were buying Aussie junk boxes were stimulating the economy and creating jobs, and then they pressure the media to constantly publicize them. You could own a V8 with illegal turbo/s installed and not get defected or impounded cause the cops love it. I know a female cop and she as been basically but not officially told, if you witness a drag race go after the import forget about the other car. When that crash happened in the Magil area last year there was massive media hype about imports and how they are a mennace. The next week end a commodore driver hit a tree going 150k's and there was a 30 second report on it and basically blown off. The only people i see driving like jerks and hoons are all VL/VP/VN/VT and the new turbo xr6 drivers most skyling drivers just look at them and laugh! why bother

Yeh exhaust leak was my first thought, but its definitely the bearing. had 2 knowledgeable people look at it one works in a turbo shop(but they cant get any standard series 2 ones). At the moment its not broken!! but i just dont want it to go pop ta for the thought though!

cheers mate, i wish i had money then i could go and do the right thing and whack a nice sized turbo on it, but i havent im gonna have to fit the turbo myself im so short on cash at the moment, im just looking for a standard one to swap over on it!

Sorry admin i put this on the SA forums aswell please dont kill me i need some help Hey all !!!!! im from SA (dont judge me) I have had my stagea seres 2 RS4-S for just over a year now and i love it to bits, maybe more than the misses!! After not having to spend a sent on this beast for over a year i just got my clutch replaced with a xtreme heavy duty organic, nothing to spectacular, but its my daily driver aswell as a fun car on weekends. Since the new clutch i have been driving it a little harder and go figure the turbo has started making noises! I have had it checked by 2 very knowledgeable people (as im very untrusting) and they have both said that the main bearing is about to go. since the S2 turbos are all nylon or plastic internals I have been told that the internals are not repairable with a stock parts. I have been given a couple options spend just over $2000 buks to get a garrett 30 shoved into the standard housing which would be awsome, or get a 2nd hand one thats in good nick! I have no budget at all this is my daily driver!! im saving for my wedding and have nothing to sell to get some quick bucks. What im after is a Standard Series 2 Turbo that has been pulled out of a stagea because of a new turbo going in. (ie not a screwed on) If anyone can help me or just shout some telephone numbers at me to some places that might have Turbos laying around that have been pulled out! im not prepared to spend that money on a new turbo yet!!! but i just need to get out of trouble for the time being! Please help im a loyal stagea man and i always give a wave to all you nutters who drive these baby's (even if i dont get wave back) Is some of you could lend a needy guy a hand i would love it cheers!!!!

Hi to all, I'm new to forums as such, but not new to the intranets.... Im in TTG SA, bought a manual 1999 Stagea Rs4-s with 62,000 on the clock from the great great guy at Iron Chef imports and have never looked back! best 15,000 bucks i ever spent! I'm so happy with the car that i haven't even thought of any mods yet as no one can seem to beat me through the hills. I have never raced on a track but would like to have a go at some stage. Various fellow Adelaidians have told me time and time again to get onto these forums for reasons like car cruises etc so here i am! I see so many Stagea's on the road now.... Half the drivers hardly look like they have the car for enjoyment morso a daily driver! Having said that i drive mine to work everyday :-P.....although i have no mods i drive the crap outa this thing when i need to and it has never let me down! It's my baby. dont tell my misses that though... Get in touch with me on here or msn me([email protected]) if not i will keep an eye out for all posting's and threads for cruises etc. Or if i see you on the road driving on other direction i will make an abrupt maneuver and follow you and hunt you down!! im so noob i need to figure out how to make a picture on the side for myself!
