  3. Hello all, I am looking to buy some 4x114.3 wheel spacers, 25mm or bigger. Would consider buying pair or set. Cheers.
  4. I ended up leaving it with my normal mechanic for a new radiator, didn't want to risk driving it home on a hot day to change the radiator myself. Costly, but even more costly if I drove it home and cracked the head gasket or something. Cheers for the recommendations guys!
  5. Can anyone recommend a good workshop to take my VY Commodore to? It needs the cooling system checked properly, there is a problem where the temperatures changes erratically. I've taken it to my normal mechanic who usually only changes my gearbox oil, they can't find what's wrong with it and I don't want to pay them hours more labour. There are 3 'Natrad' workshops in Canberra, has anyone had any experience with these guys?
  6. For sale - 1 brand new pair of Achilles ATR Sport 215/45r17 I was going to run these on the back of my Skyline but ended up sticking with 16" wheels $200 for the pair, brand new and fresh stock
  7. Yep just as above ^ I had one lined up but that fell through at the last minute, needed to have it done in time for Wakefield this weekend. I didn't post on any forums, I found out yesterday I couldn't use the tool I had arranged to so I started calling shops. Flaring tools aren't that expensive but I needed a weird double flare, that is what makes the tools quite expensive (from what I found) Pretty disappointing; I wonder how so many of these workshops stay in business.. perhaps all of their trade accounts?
  8. How terrible. ABS in Fyshwick would have been my pick, but they couldn't do it. I needed it done by the weekend so I just went with these guys, such a bad experience.
  9. Bit of a story about my experience with ACT Brakes. Today I had the hardline fittings flared for my hydraulic handbrake at ACT Brakes. They are terrible, I wouldn't recommend them at all. First of all, they are very over priced. ABS in Fyshwick will flare the ends of hard brake line for $5.50 per flare, I like this shop and they do a good job, but their portable flaring tool was broken, so they could only flare hardline out of the car, not under the car like I needed. ACT Brakes quoted $31.25 per flare! There were no other shops nearby to do the work, so I paid $125 to have the 4 flares done. Way way overpriced. Secondly, when I arrived to pick my car up it was sitting outside in pouring rain with the two front windows down - both seats drenched and pools of water in the footwells (no carpet in my car) Next, they said if I wanted the brakes bled it would cost a further $75, I said no and I will bleed them at home. When I picked the car up they said they bled them anyway, but the pedal goes flat to the floor, it was a very difficult drive home. Pretty poor that they couldn't even quickly bleed the brakes to a reasonable pedal feel, hydraulic handbrake or not they are supposed to be a brake shop. Lastly, before I took the car in I drilled a hole in my transmission tunnel for the hardline to run through, I drilled a 13.5mm hole and put a rubber grommet in it - more than big enough for two pieces of hardline to run through. When I picked the car up, they had run 1 line through the hole with a grommet that I drilled, then they had drilled another hole next to it and didn't put a grommet, I left more grommets in the glovebox but I didn't know they were drilling a new hole and I forgot to tell them about the extra grommets. Either way, you would think a 'professional' brake shop would not leave a brake line running through a bare metal hole. That's my rant. Overall, terrible experienced, shoddy work and very overpriced, I would not recommend these guys to anyone.
  10. Man I love those wheels, any chance you could check what model they are? I need to search for them! Fantastic car all round mate, interesting fun bits on it
  11. Need details of engine build asap!!
  12. Those damn ANU students, can't be trusted.
  13. I don't think you're fairly comparing tyres, Bridgestone RE sports? Toyo T1 or R1 tyres? Compared to a cheap daily tyre (595ss) I think you should compare to RS-R to be on the same level.
  14. Can you please confirm width, offset and model of the wheels? Stud pattern(s?)? Thanks.
  15. I don't think 18x10 +20 would be enough to fill 30mm wide guards on an r34 GT-R, unless you run like a tall/wide semi slick tyre or something. Police could technically defect you either way with that size, so I wouldn't take that into consideration.
  16. I'm using them for drifting, not for track track work i.e. grip racing. Although I'm still on a track, not being used for grip racing.
  17. Wonderful. The last time I used them was 3 years ago and I don't really remember what the grip was like for a performance perspective. I think I will go with the 595-SS again, see how they go on the track. Should be an interesting change running a neutral / balanced tyre combo instead of my usual Advan AD07 front and second hand crap rears.
  18. I'm considering RS-R for the front.. It's for drifting, I was tempted by the 595-ss all around to try a 'balanced' approach instead of running a steer tyre with much more grip up front. I couldn't afford RS-R all round.
  19. Can you measure the diameter of the spring? A lot of coilovers run a 60mm ID x 200mm - 220mm long spring, these are readily available for around $100 / pair.
  20. Has anyone used Federal 595-ss recently? I'm wondering what the new stock is like. I want to run them all round in 205/50r16 for Matsuri on 8" rims, does anyone have any of the fresh stock? It's been so long since i've run 595-ss I can't remember what the grip was like.
  21. Indeed, I'd be interested to know what the problem is. I've had my coilovers for about 10 months now with no worries (HSD HR) and a friend of mine has been running his for 5 years without a rebuild!
  22. Shouldn't need a gasket, I don't use any on my car. There are 3 locking collars, are all those tight? Does the spring have enough pre-load on it so it's held captive?
  23. Yep, RSR are a very good performer, especially for the money. The RT615 take a long time to get heat into from what I've found, but I haven't tested them a lot.
  24. I think it's pretty expensive if you compare the amount of laps you get / cost v. a Wakefield or Marulan day, that's what stops me from entering.
  25. ^ I agree with this, my coilovers are base height adjustable, I measure the distance between the bottom and top locking collars with my vernier calipers, it's always given me a perfect even height.
