  1. Kk, done a proper test now. Filled car completely, reset odo, when the light came on I refilled and recorded both the odo & how much fuel I put in. I put in exactly 61L (light turns on when I still have 19L left, odd) - odo read 547km. Result: 11.15/100km. I guess this is better than most people get, I rarely put my foot down tho.
  2. They're mostly targetting people speeding through the truck stop exit, trucks speeding and speeding by more than 20kph - I do security and that BP is one of our client so I've chatted to the guys driving the Ute a few times. Good guys.
  3. Someone spot me god dammit. I'll be going to Maroochydore then Nambour tomorrow and heading up to Brisbane late evening. I drive a silver M35. Thanks in advance.
  4. I suddenly feel prison is appropriate for road rule breakers... At least some of them, none in particular though.
  5. The only time I've been to indooropilly I got fined, and it's over an hour from maroochydore?
  6. Lol, I sure do I usually head there at about 9.45 Only time I can get the damn park to myself and it has the added benefit of being able to show a few excel drivers up. I just need to hurry up and order my VOLVO & 1.8L badges. I did have a skyline pull in about a fortnight ago (I suck at keeping track of time), stop for about 2 minutes and leave. At first I thought s/he was looking at my Stag but I think they were just taking a phone call I'm antisocial though so I didn't go and say hello.
  7. The knee jerk reactions are ridiculous. I'm not proposing anything for first time offences, or second time offences. Third time causing an accident whilst drunk? Something needs to be done and I simply proposed one option. I know a dickhead who had to go to the police station DAILY. A simple way of monitoring it could be daily visits to a police station, sure, he can drink a few without getting caught but if someone has to be at the police station at 7-8am every morning then there is no way they could get drunk the night before. Yes, they might just get drunk in the morning after going to the police station but this is a better alternative to JAIL. It's not that hard to implement. A possible system: Certain mechanics can do the safety checks. They forward the results to QLD Transport, QLD Transport flags your rego as a "pass" and sends out the rego renewal. You must have the check done before your rego expires. I think that'd make for a fairly cheap system, costs QLD transport very little I'd imagine.
  8. Could be, obviously it's hard to generalise but if someone proves themselves untrustworthy and an ungoing endangerment to society then jail does seem appropriate, however, whilst in jail we have to figure out how to rehabilitate them so they do not endanger lives again. How about after a second offence they get a GPS tracking bracelet that ONLY engages when he is travelling over 50kph. Public transport could have some kind of system in place (perhaps their own GPS tracking technology) that is monitored all the time. Base does a simple calculation, if x is within y distance to public transport tracker then he is probably on public transport? Might cost a few thousand (hundreds of thousands) to setup but if it saves lives and prevents us from sending people to prison then would this not be a suitable "probation" style punishment? If someone is caught drink driving ban then from pubs licensed venues & ban then from consuming alcohol at all (as a second offence punishment). Jail should always be a last resort, a case of we either put the bloke/girl in jail or someone will die or be injured.
  9. I go to the dog park in Buderim on most Thursday nights? Does that count as something?
  10. Yes, I believe that's exactly what I said. Yet there is more evidence being released every day which contradicts this very point. Come back when you have a clue. Jail has never been a successful deterrent, if it was, our crime rates would be lower and the recidivism rates of prisoners would be much, much lower. I find most people who support gaol have the inability to open themselves up to other options and more commonly, don't want to... They seem to enjoy the idea of sending someone to jail and what the person will face in prison.
  11. I agree with you except one bit. I don't even agree with jailing people who kill others in accidents. Jail should be used to protect society, that's it. Jail is a piss poor deterrent and it benefits no one. It's only purpose is to make people feel good. I don't know about you, but when someone is punished I'd rather it actually deter people (which imo, with speeding, is impossible) and/or it actually benefits society. Locking someone up does not benefit society and it won't protect them either.
  12. Aha! I knew my engine looked different. I don't know if I want a pod filter yet, just looking around I'll have a look into those two. At this stage I am leaning towards everything *looking* stock but still want to investigate all my options. Thanks!
  13. Guys, Was browsing import monstor and came across this: http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?url=h...title=NEW%20M35 I have no idea if the actual pod filter is any good, but does anyone know if the kit definitely fits the m35 without much hassle? It's 12.30am and I cbf going outside to look at my engine but from memory mine is a bit different... But that could just be the missing airbox If there is a good chance that this is an easy install and the filter sucks, how hard is it to throw a decent pod onto the end. I am only considering this because tbh, it looks good but if I did go down this path I'd need to install some kind of "shield" to stop it sucking in warm air, correct?
  14. Doubt you'll get cheaper. Though I'm 21 and I got $1560 or something with a $400 excess or $1460 with a $600 excess. I'm ringing shannons in the next few days to see whether I am considered a car enthusiast but I figure I should join SAUQLD before doing so... But you know, lazy.
  15. The map of my house is crap and doesn't show the bends but I love my drive home. Up the mountain range so I get lovely corners every time I take the car out... That is unless I get some twat going 20-30 below the speed limit the entire time.
