one thing thats really odd AL, is that ive got the same amount of depth that you have on your trim? maybe you have your cooler mounted more infront? Ive just thought about it, and it'd be easier to just mount the cooler more infront, instead of adding depth to the bumper, as theres already alot there...........whats the easiest way to mount the cooler more infront, longer silicon hoseS?
-
hey, yeh its definitely the lower lip that hasnt got the depth im after!, theyve already started respray on the bumper today, and it wll be ready for pickup tommorow. Do you think i'll be able to add more depth to the bumper later on, and have only that part resprayed? or will it look odd, and instead a full bumper respray will be needed!
-
no worries ill post up pics of my car tommoro, with and without mesh, if i keep it on with mesh for long enough cheers
-
hahah, nice thoughts, i'll see how i go tommorow wen car is back, somehow i got the feeling im going to be taking the mesh off right away!!! thanks
-
Hey guys, got my cooler fitted, got a type m front getting resprayed as i speak, and cut the opening of the bar for more air into the cooler. My question is should i have my bumper meshed up or not?, how many on this board have meshed theirs up???, and should it be done, i knw it looks cooler w/o the mesh, but will meshing help save my cooler in the long run??

Hey im getting a split dump very soon, a stainless steel one that goes from turbo to front pipe. How is the factory unit restrictive???they look very similar in the pic above apart from the SPLIT design, is it just its flow capabilities of the stock one??? And i assume youll see the same amount of gains from going front/dump combo, or just the dump pipe unit itself with an aftermarket front pipe??? is it a good idea to have the split dump heatwrapped first?and how much wrap will i need?

Cant find any of these in NZ!, could someone please get one shipped over to new zealand for me, im afte rthe drift wing like jmsauto
-
well the top part wasnt trimmed at all, and i got the welder to keep it that depth the whole way through, so i think i may have lost some DEPTT to the bumper??? im going to go see the welder tommrow as my car is at his garage right now, and before preppin i mite jst get him to weld more plastic as hell know exactly how much is needed now cheers
-
Another quick question AL, we fitted the bumper today, to check how much clearance weare going to get, it seems the old blinkers do the trick, but i have about 5-10cm gap between the bottom of the trimmed bumper and intercooler?does this sound right??? i told them to mesh it up, but the gap looks bad or it it just me???
-
thanks man, heaps of help, so a 90degree bend will do the job, did you mesh up both ends of the pipes for the intake???
-
Hey al, how did you make ur cold air induction, im thinking of doing the exact same thing for my r33, cheers.
-
hehe sorry mate, its the blinkers i meant:), i have both series 1 non type m, and type m blinkers, they seem slightly different in terms of construction, will it make much difference or will they need to be trimmed up?
-
done it today, 3.5" was indeed too big lol, but i will try and find a rubber grommet to use to make it look neat as well. Al what needed trimming on your type m front???, ive plastic welded mine and everything, i'll be taking it to the panel beater tommorow...ummm i tested it out, and it seems the only thing hitting the reinforcement bar is the headlights, which will probably need trimming, other than that, i think the bar will fit onto the reo w/o having to trim the the depth of the trimmed area (crossing fingers), letting me keep alot of depth, as the cooler sits behind the reo as i trimmed the reo bar.
-
for the pipe going over the engine and down into a hole which needs to be made....... will 3.5" hole be adequete, or should i make a 3" hole/4" hole instead??? Is just that i have a 3.5" hole saw that i can use, no other sizes available to me apart from 3.5" (89mm), unless i buy one of course, and i'll the instrctions to mark out the centerline instructions say 3" and AL says 4"??? so confused lol

Hey whats the secret to trimming the fanblades, i might just go ahead and do it!, how should i go about it, it looks as though its easy enough to cut, though i dnt know at what angle etc...
-

R33 Hybrid Gt Spec...will I Need To Trim Fan Blade
nsta replied to nsta's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
any chance you can post a pic? -
Hey al, ,my bumper now looks very similar to yuors after having it trimmed/welded professionally:), my cooler sits behind the reo bar, so i should have more than anough clearence for the type m front no (no further trimming) is this correct. And will the healdights/tailights need trimming? Osiris....i trimmed my reo in the same manner as you, still keeping the main support intact, think it works very welll:)
-
Thanks alot for these instructions mate:) - Trim fan - Cut a 4" hole through the car body, under the wash bottle - Enlarge the std ic hole on the other side - Cut front bar reo. - Trim front bar plastic to clear fmic - Yell out a whole lot of swear words, and curse at Hybrid and there so called "bolt on kit" Im with you on the swear words hahaha, im about 7 hours in so far lol, and still going, i too have only ever taken off my front for the first time few issues im coming accross: 1)cut the front reo to make way for cooler, cooler sits nicely now, didnt need to drill holes 250ml; apart as per instructed as they were already there:) 2)the 4" hole i need to make is obstructed by a holder which is plugged into 3 plugs 3) how do i go about extending the std i/c hole?, and why do we need to do this?, i find this area tricky as i couldnt get my pipework to meet on both ends without one end slipping off all the time!!!, though i havent extended the hole yet. 4) i have an auto trasmission cooler, which now is behind the intercooler, could this affect its cooling to an extent? 5) the pipe going accross the engine is seriously low, and it looks as though i mite to trim heaps off of the fanblades, which im in no position to do, workaround????, this is one of my main concerns id say im about 40% complete, the reos cut, and the coolers on, now the hard part.....the PIPEWORk, and getting it all to fit p.s how much of the piping has to be over the hoses before clamping them down???

R33 Hybrid Gt Spec...will I Need To Trim Fan Blade
nsta replied to nsta's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Ok i'll try that hopefully all is fine. Just wondering........... if i was to lift the pipe going accross the engine, would that not make the pipe hit the bonnet???, and would that affect the rest of the piping that extends to the cooler itself? cheers -
R33 Hybrid Gt Spec...will I Need To Trim Fan Blade
nsta replied to nsta's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
please help guys, i got the cooler fitted, only top brackets are on, sits nicely, and i will have to relocate the horn, but thats the least of my worries, the piping that needs to go back to the stand piping hole is too short, or so i think, do i need to make the hole bigger or something???ive moved the cooler right back so i cant understand why this is happening. Also with all these hose clamps, how much do of the pipe needs to be over the clamp before i tighten, sorry new to this diy stuff (heheh) -

R33 Hybrid Gt Spec...will I Need To Trim Fan Blade
nsta posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Hey just wondeirng if i'll need to trim the fan blade off of my r33 gts25t series 1, if i install my new hybrid gt-spec intercooler kit,.Ive heard people say that with the new gtspec kits, theres no need to trim fanblades?as id like to do it myself, im not too keen if i will have to trim fanblades, as i'll probably ruin sumthing, its the one thing thats stopping me from diy'in the fmic. One other thing.....my piping doesnt have a nipple for my solenoid going back to turbo???is there another line i can tap into?, or should i be getting a nipple put in? thanks -
hey this would really help me guys, the 2 x 14mm bolts on each side, are they to take off the reinforcement bar as well???, these things are ultra hard to get out, any help pleasE??wrong tools maybe? heres the order ive done for my r33 series 1 front pull out the grille (5 plugs) unplug screws below the grille -Behind the plastic inner wheel arch guard there's two screws either side which hold the sides of the bar to the front of the guards.
