  1. Hey, yes when i turn the cas unit, i hear the injectors clicking.....does this mean that its working fine?, i just refitted my new head, and since its not working.....Timing is spot on, when i turn the keys, car almost starts, then a vacuum sound comes through the intake, and then nothing....i dnt know what it is... If i can hear clicking in the injectors with the cas unit, does this usually mean that the cas unit is fine?
  2. Hey guys, im trying to figure out why my car aint starting, i suspect my cas is the fault(as we dropped it), but i was thinking, if the AFM's were switched when plugged in, would this cause the same problem???, im sure ive plugged them in correctly, but just want to make sure, for me to test this though, id have to remove the arc air box etc, bt of work invloved, as one of the plugs can only reache to the afm, which is the reason why i think i have them setup correcty....is there an easy way to test this???as my car aint starting at all right now!, will my car start without the afms plugged in? thanks
  3. How much to buy new guides/springs and retainers roughly?.....i wont be taking it on the track much, but hill climbs are something i may do....Well i just want to bore enough to fit oversized pistons(.5mm oversize)....so like you said the least amount necessary..whats the overfill thang you say to do in regards to the oil mods???, and also, how much could this motor rev to safely? thanks....
  4. I have tried starting it via the key, and no luck, while adjusting the cas, and can nearly hear her kick over, and then a suddent noise comes from the intake like vacuum suction.....im going to try another cas today.
  5. Cheers dude - i want to get my car up and running, as i just replaced a headgasket on my gtr, so im hoping the cas is still in working condition for the time being, i will however keep an eye out for ojne and replace immediately if i notice its on its way out..... everything else is spot on so far....only about 2, maybe 3 more hours of labour to go and the car should turn over...fingers crossed:)
  6. Thanks all, the cas already has white markings on to line up timing, so it should be all good, from what i gather, there will be a half moon on the exhaust cam side of things as well, and the spline will only KEY in one way so i want have any issues there aswell.... Well what happened is my mate dropped it, it fell on my front bumper, then dropped onto concrete, it didnt crack in any way or get smashed up, just dropped i guess...
  7. Hey, thanks mate, how much is a replacement cas set me back?, and is it possible to break a cas sensor by dropping it?.....im getting anxious now..... is it easy to test another cas from another rb26 easily enough to confirm?
  8. So what are the notches on the balancer pulley?, and the timing mark on the cover behind the puller.
  9. Is there a possibility of the valves being bent as the head has been put back on without the timing on the crank or cams being set?, even though the motor has not been started???, i need some advice, i dnt want to hear it but i may have to...im picturing the pistos crushing the valves that me be have been in contact when the head was slapped on....could i be on the right path???or does it take alot more revolutions for the valves to bend etc?ie the motor starting up and idling.....
  10. Hey thanks for the offer:), i still think im in trouble mate, we loosen that bolt and its right off(the 30mm one), we done this before putting the head back on....the head is already back on, and the bottom timing was not setup, and the top cam gears timing was aligned once the head was on!!!, the crank was turned by hand when the head was off only so the bolt would come out.... Im scared of what im hearing now....
  11. Now im very worried, basically the belt is off from the top two cam gears (but not down the bottom at the balancer)...as i jst done a head gasket replacement.....and the head needed to be off Before i placed the head back on, we got the crank pulley bolt right out (the 30mm one i think it is), but didnt remove the pulley off or the cover, as i had no balancer removal tools available). Am i in trouble?
  12. Thanks im doing it for the first time, i understand that its the cam gear and crank gear marking plate that needs to be lined up perfect, but as per the first question, if i need to line them up as they are in figure one thats what i'll do.if figure 2 is wrong then ill change immediately, as thats how its lined up currently, but i was unsure so i didnt go any further. As for the crank gear marking, i was told you line up the leftmost line on the gear (or the most anticlockwise one) to the timing mark, mine is coloured orange....is this correct? How do we remove the crank pulley???also when lining up all the marks, is it ok to do it without the belt on, so that when all the mark are aligned, i can just chuck new belt on and crank the engine by hand to do a final adjustment. Thanks.
  13. Is that what its called? bumper black?im going to supercheap today to buy...
  14. Thanks, so basically with my new greddy timing belt, the lines shoud match up perfect from the belt to the timing marks on the cam gear cover?? Also, with the new belt, how do i know which line corresponds to which cam gear, or timing mark?, i can roughly see it myself (imaginin it linig up)
  15. Hey guys, my r33 gtr front lip is getting alot of stone chips on it, and i'm about to do a respray on it, i need to know what color code i should be using, or is it flatblack/matt black???? how do most get it looking back to factory color???, i was thinking of just doing it myself and saving $$$ Thanks:)
  16. Hey guys, please see pics below, when adjusting timing on the cam gears, which part of the hole needs to be corresponding to the timing mark itself (does the hole need to be in the middle of the mark, or the hole need to line up to the edge of that gear tooth? the pics below will explain much more clearly, please tell me which way is correct for lining up. Thanks:)
  17. Hey, what are the supporting mods needed for the car with the n1 turbos?, and what sort of 1/4 miles time would i be seeing, my goal is for a high 11 street car...... thanks:)
  18. Hey guys, im going to be doing this tommorow for my rb26,and was wondering what sort of guides people use when doing theirs, ive searched the forums and there seems to be alot of guides written differently,..... Im doing my belt, tensioner, idler and waterpump all at the same time, and words of advice greatly appreciated, as its my first time, so far, i can see timing marks for my inlet exhast on the cam cover, and also cas marks were there already aswell... What confuses me is all the marks on the bottom pulley going down the side of it (looking front on at the engine) Thanks.
  19. Thanks so i can still expect the car to run smoothly at low boost and running stock computer, and dumps with these n1's, as right now ive got hiflows on the gtr....but ceramic ones:(./....i dnt wnna blow my engine!
  20. ill test tommorow, so basically if the magnet sticks to the blades, they are steel wheel?
  21. if i post a pic of the turbos could you tell?
  22. Hey, my rb26 had uprated hiflowed turbos when i got the car, and while its open i want to know if i have ceramic turbos or not (as i heard the stock ceramics are prone to killing these engines!!!) please let me know. Thanks.
  23. Do you need to use a pin pusher for this job or could anything work to tap it with?
  24. so line em up and tap away??? I thought id do this mod while the head is off, i cant do any of the other ones as the block wont be out...hope this helps somewhat with oil blowby.... What kind of tool did you use to tap it with if you dont mind me asking, ill also be doing this mod. thanks
  25. I just got a tomei gasket kit today, it has instructions on how to install the oil gallery restrictor, looks pretty easy, batter down the existing one, and put new one in its place (over the top)....couple of quick questions regarding this 1) what tool do you use to hammer the existing 2mm one down 2) is it possible to push the existing 2mm gallery restrictor down too much?, i mean how do you know you've hit it down enough, or too much)???....im just scared of the existing restrictor going down too much when i hit it..... i assume you hit the existing one down, and then it doesnt go down anymore, then when you put the new tomei one in its place, itll just sit flush with the block? help please, id like to do this asap! thanks
