  1. With R34's instead of turning your air con on you can use free heat just by pushing the mode button or if u need more press the fan speed up and it will pump out heat to the temperature set by the knob. Fuel economy wise when you turn a/c on you can notice the cars being drained of power and it raises your idle rpm. Using your head lights is another power drainer and so is the car stereo (if aftermarket) as the electronics are part of the engine due to the alternator
  2. Thread from the dead. Regarding subs in an R34, yes there is HEAPS of room wtf are you guys on about lol. If you have a factory 17" mag instead of a space saver and your no longer using the plywood sheet there is a nice spot on the left hand side (the wider wheel sits up more creating a nice slot either side) that will fit a 12" sub in an average size sub box. (warning don't put a large box there as it may move in the way of the hinge locking the boot shut, but a normal size wont)
  3. I want to turb my car before the end of the year but the question i have is, is it really worth all the hassle and expense? just reading the threads about it makes it sound very confusing and problematic and if i were to get a work shop to do all the work it would probably send the bill sky high with all the fiddling they'd have to do
  4. i through my wooden bit out as it was all kinds of f!#cked, but when i had it i noticed small bits of foam/fabric (similar color to that in the photo) on the bit of wood. I don't have a space saver anymore just a factory wheel, so foam would make the carpet sit evenly instead of sagging down around the tire that is now sitting quite high, so if anyone did a diy foam insert post up the dimensions so we can all give it a go
  5. nz radar detectors are useless now coz the cops use a new bandwidth and have encrypted radios.. bummer. Laser jammers would work better i think, not legal but they mess with the signal going back to the cop car so they cant get a confirmed speed on your car (more effective when cops turn there radar off and on to avoid being detected by radar detectors). They usually mount them somewhere hidden in the engine bay, so only a die hard cop would be able to find it and pull it out. Personally tho i don't speed because its bad and illegal. But if i was to speed i'd always look around first and when its clear i'd do it lol, country back roads are good to..
  6. Just for the record, a lot of of old jap cars/vans like the nissan vanette etc squeal on start up and idle so it cant be too serious, just something small that bosses cant be f**ked paying for to be replaced lol. I only mentioned lubing the bearings as iv heard mine starting to squeal while idling, probably got dust etc in them and the lube they would have had (if serviced properly) has dried up which would cause a squeal until they start moving. Try all the small things first so you can eliminate the problem before spending money on unneeded repairs/parts, ring a local mechanic and ask him what the common causes are of squealing and you should get a few answers pretty quickly
  7. Do that and the next time they search your car they will be for looking for the reason why your passenger air bag didn't deploy and your mate smashed is head open. Have you looked behind the sunglasses case? or behind the fuse box by your leg? if you get a dash that has the dvd player/sat nav in it you could buy just the dash and turn the flip up bit into a secret compartment. If you were really good and you still have the desire to rip shit out of your car you could have a look at taking out the light thing that comes on when the doors open, if you did that and put a spacer up there you could slip the radar detector in there and hook up the power to it? Does your car have a small panel on the steering wheel column? have a look inside there. Also on the back of the middle compartment box is a little panel that pops off, but I'm sure police would check that. Lol and why do they search your car? iv never had that done to me before, are you dodgy looking? And don't they need a warrant to search your car?
  8. Have absolutely no faith in your rear brake/ rear lights looking good, let me know when you install them and i'll come round and play connect the dots lol. if you have a look you will see that there is only one bulb per half circle on the rear lights, that means if you put an led in its place you would have a distinctive dot as leds don't scatter light like conventional bulbs. Although i could be wrong so in that case feel free to correct me
  9. CRC or silicon spray all the bearings etc that the belts run on. I usually do it every now and again even tho its never happened to me
  10. lol oh great, now i know why iv got crap all over my back bumper.. I used to have a big bore but i had it changed to a twin tip that is angled up slightly so it just fires all the black stuff up into my bumper and due to drag etc small specs go all over the whole back bumper
  11. All i have is a straight through exhaust and a resonator, i would have thought a cat converter would reduce carbon not make it worse?
  12. If i installed a high flow cat, would that stop the carbon staining my bumper?
  13. How much would one of those cost? If its not cheap I'll probably forget about it and put the money towards a much needed turbo conversion
  14. my verbal translation says its blowing smoke and blown a gasket etc. and ftr some japaneese ppl talk like shit, doesn't make sense (or is that the translation from japaneese to english?)
  15. I'm guessing you need a piggy back to tune a/f ratio? my car smells really rich and would like to have it tuned so its running mint, but justifying the expense of a aftermarket ecu etc on an NA car is hard to do lol
  16. How much did all the parts + labor cost for you wytsky? looking at chucking a turbo on my car as well but not sure if its a good idea long term
  17. Also helps to put in a 5 star alarm and get at least a double immobilizer (as single doesn't mean much insurance wise), that should cut down your excess a bit and lower your premium a little bit. Your first year of insurance is always a bitch but after awhile (with no claims) they lower everything, try stay with one company and build a reputation with them as the longer your with someone and have had no claims they'll start charging you less and less every year . Oh and just for the record iv stated the pro's and cons of third party insurance: Pro's: - The excess on full insurance is usually more than what it would cost to fix the car yourself, so if you did crash your better off (if its small stuff like front/rear bumpers) - Its cheaper full stop. Cons: - If some drunk idiot has a rage on your car your f!cked in the wallet. - If someone crashes into you and doesn't have insurance you may have to fork out on legal fees to get them to fix your car. - as above, but they do a runner again your f!cked in the wallet. Third party is only good for shit box cars so i wouldn't recommend it, personally i sleep better at night knowing I'm covered for anything that happens to my car.
  18. Iv got an r34 25gtv and it cost me $2000 on my first year $1500 on my 2nd and I'm about to find out how much its going to be for my 3rd year, iv had it since i was 16 and went through my parents for insurance which helped a little bit. One other thing to watch out for is when you mod your car the excess goes up fair bit. If you want to pay a middle man an extra $100 or so they look at the all the insurance companies and find you one that offers the best deal. Otherwise as a minimum get third party + fire/theft insurance
  19. yes that helps basically tells you that an Aluminum sub frame locking kit = harsh ride Guess pineapples would be the way to go or just a plastic locking kit instead
  20. The car also sounds different in the passenger seat. Plus T would be easier than being an N/A and doing expensive mods for little gain
  21. Can anyone recommend using a sub frame locking kit? is it really worth it and are there any side effects like added pressure on the joints etc etc????
  22. Bridgestone makes some decent tires if your looking for a slightly better brand, i had the basic potenza's and they gripped much better than other tires iv used (nankang and federal)
  23. mulaa (moola) = money lol. Turbo? internals? intake plenum?. You basically bolted on some parts and made close to 400hp?!
  24. lets see how long it takes for it to blow up lol. Whatd u do to it and how much mulaa did u have to throw at it?
