  1. thanks for all those replies... sounds like the footscray one is the closest to me (since i'm in brunswick): chasers motorworks/ 4/440 dynon rd footscray 96877118 although i thought there would be something closer. cheers, vekra
  2. hey, anyone know of a good/reliable place to have a skyline serviced in the inner north? i know it's only a service, but i will only entrust it to the safest hands. any ideas? brunswick would be perfect.

    Who Got Hailed?

Hey, Like a lot of people, my r33 got badly damaged in the hailstorm. Roof, bonnet, front left panel - all dotted everywhere with dents. I would estimate total 250 - 400 dents at least, ranging in size from almost unnoticeable to evident. Can anyone recommend a top 3 of dent repairers in Melbourne who will do a Skyline perfectly? I'm prepared to wait, and hopefully insurance will cover it (JustCar). It's a '96 model, so I don't know if it'll be written off. I was pretty impressed with how quickly JustCar responded after the storm. I've heard some repairers have "light tunnels" which helps them see all the dents. Is this necessary? They don't all have this. Seeing an insurance assessor tomorrow... vekra
  4. Cheers for all the replies... Some of them have been a bit too technical for me so I'm going to take the suggestions to my mechanic. Maybe they'll understand (taking it to RE Customs next week). Not sure what alignment means... (wheels have been aligned recently though)
  5. looks like a very tidy r32
  6. Thanks for the reply. The tyres aren't brand new so I'm sure it's not a waxiness problem. Not sure what type - will need to check. Not sure what 'bricks for rear shocks' involves! Is that something that may need repair, or something I can add to the car to make it safer?
  7. i heard of a guy being forced to choose between the girlfriend and the skyline. she REALLY didn't like it. he chose the girlfriend and sold the skyline. a mistake if you ask me.
  8. Hey, Wondered if anyone can help with this - I have an R33 GTST which is an awesome car, and it's been serviced regularly. If I'm driving slow or accelerating slowly in the wet, the back wheels seem to lose traction and kick left/right and the back of the car fishtails. Don't know why. Tyres are new, I assume HICAS is working fine since it's been serviced and checked. It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally. Any ideas? Mechanics say it's normal. I've nearly ended up across lanes due to this problem so it's not hugely safe! vekra
  9. Birds - meeting in a car park is fine... i live in Murrumbeena. not sure where you are, but we can meet in the train station carpark at Murrumbeena on the citybound side of the tracks if that's on your way. otherwise we can meet at the pub beforehand. i can't send you or anyone else a "PM" right now - get an error saying i haven't posted enough yet! my email is [email protected] vekra
  10. thanks for the welcoming replies... i'll be there. Birds - how about we meet at the pub beforehand and go from there? vekra.
  11. glad you like the car and the avatar pic. i've put some more photos of the skyline into my album. looking forward to getting involved and seeing other members' cars.
  12. hey everyone, i'm new to Melbourne and to this website. i'm thinking about coming along to this EGM to see what it's about, and i'm thinking about joining SAU vic. i don't know anyone else in this club (yet!). should i come along to this? is it a good way to see what it's all about? any other new ppl coming to this? vekra.
  13. i agree with 99 GTT. i don't care about the driver, i feel sorry for the car (which looks like it was a nice skyline), any innocent bystanders who could have been hit, and anyone stupid enough to have been in the passenger seat. gaol is no deterrent. some people prefer to be in gaol than outside - how is it a deterrent for them? and as for 'who's road is it' - that's not the point - the point is if you drive like a muppet you can kill someone else or render them a vegetable, and that's not your problem, that's their problem, and their family's problem etc. the courts aren't going to bring back someone's wife/daughter/father etc once you've run them over. you may not be making a contribution to society, but what if you hit someone decent and worthwhile? that's what concerns me. or what if you destroy a good skyline? if you drive like an idiot get off the road. you should be shown no mercy. plus you can always go to the track and roll your skyline there if you really have to.
  14. hey everyone, i'm new, and i've only just moved to melbourne. i bought my skyline a couple of months ago (pic attached), and for me it's my dream car. it's an r33 gtst. i travelled all over australia to find it. very happy with it, but i really need to take it somewhere i can push it. suburban streets just don't do it justice. at this stage it's still 100% stock - never been boosted as far as i can tell. would be good to meet some other ppl who understand my obsession with skylines. so far nobody gets it and they just look at me blankly when i talk about it. is anything happening around caulfield/carnegie/south area? vekra.
