  1. Heyy why is it that when I posted my 'which new car thread?' a month ago I was ostracized for considering the xr6t? they are an excellent car, we should be proud and feel lucky we have access to something like this on the local car market. Obviously not a corners car, but last time i checked nissan where not currently offering any kind of NEW rear wheel drive package with boost for under $60k.. or even $150k for that matter
  2. Lol, possibly. But if you read closer I was actually talking about how great the insurance premium was compared to when I had an import (that was 1/4 of the money) and how ridiculous that is.
  3. lol, $1080 insurance premium on a $90,000 135i convertible twin turbo with a $700 excess through suncorp Doesnt get much better than that Seems pretty ridiculous considering what they'd want for a $20-$40k skyline
  4. Its actually great hearing everyones opinions. I respect most of the drivers on here more than I would any other car forum, i've owned a few skylines and I know that most people got into these cars in the first place because they are happy to look sideways instead of following the pack. Sadly I think these days the pack are gravitating towards the skylines and times change. Speaking of times changing, the g6e turbo is not the hottest car but it looks very classy and understated for an australian car and its frankly unbeatable value for money when it comes to performance for dollars. Anyone who hates on it is living in the past, its a fantastic achievement for a local car company. Its so good i'm sure if you drove it you would change your opinion on the car company as a whole. So lets talk about corners. As great as corners are, how often do we hit a beautiful section of twisty road in our daily driving compared to traffic lights and boring sharp left and right hand turns at intersections? I think for most of us the twisty roads only get visited on the weekends and it represents a small percentage of how we use our car. With that tied up and said, I am blowing my budget it out of the water and getting into the bmw 135i. its a lightweight luxury car with a twin turbo 3 litre sports package. I'm in love. Thanks for the suggestions guys
  5. The evo was nice, a beautiful steer.. but 0-400m in 14.5 seconds stock simply isnt acceptable for a $60,000 dedicated performance car I'd love the new GTR but i've decided no matter which way i dice it i cant justify spending the money. Guys i love your ideas, but I've decided that I want to buy a NEW, DEALER DELIVERED car to apply for the 30% government rebate for business owners As for everything sitting around the luxury car tax threshold, my choice seems limited to: ford g6e turbo subaru wrx / sti mitsi evo x I am not prepared to get into a holden ss due to the crappy interior and not as great fuel economy. Since being a skyline owner i'm addicted to boost, and the inline 4 litre six this local australian company produce is exceptional so far the ford is the reining champion. stock it beats all these cars.. anything i'm forgetting?
  6. So today I test drove: Mitsubishi lancer evolution X Subaru WRX and the Ford G6E Turbo The evolution and the rexy felt pretty soft, and where great cars but just didnt have the rush that the G6E Turbo had. It looks like i'm crossing over to the darkside boys! The G6E has AMAZING torque, 530Nm, the 4 litre 6cyl turbo helps. it is very comfortable and luxurious, idles quietly and has the balls to the wall acceleration when you need it. it feels like fords take on a skyline wrapped in leather. Obviously wont do corners as well as the rest, but it just feels like a superior car. Sorry to dissapoint the rest of you but the bum in the drivers seat doesnt lie
  7. too dated for $50k. I'm actually considering a new Ford XR6T.. What do you guys think?
  8. They are getting a little dated now, and I dont think they represent very good value until they are under 40
  9. Hey guys. I'm back from overseas and it looks like i'll be in Australia for a while and I need a car that has the following qualities: - Sex appeal / class - Performance (preferably turbo, I cant really do slow anymore) - Handling - Luxury and comfort is a bonus Cars I have owned that I enjoyed previously: - silvia sr20det man - 32 gtr (performance, handling) - '07 mazda3 maxx (looks, economic performance, handling) So my budget ranges anywhere from $10k to $40k, i'm keeping an open mind, I want something that I can fall in love with Heres some of the cars i'm considering: - 2000 S15 JDM Silvia for $25k - '94 r32 gtr v-spec II for 19.8k (Again) - '97 r33 gtr for $23k - something new and possibly a convertible? anything sexy - perhaps a bmw/audi ? Suggestions welcome!
  10. Just wondering for those of you who have gone through Nissan finance to purchase your 35 gtr, what deal did they give you and what are your repayments? Also curious if any of you guys are doing a finance lease and for the accountants in the forum, how would you need to set up your business so you could write your car payments off at tax time? I am out of the country at the moment and the nissan sales reps dont seem to take you very seriously unless you come down in person, Cheers
  11. Maybe if Nissan where not ripping us off $80,000 for each car people wouldnt be interested in importing? I'm living in Seattle at the moment, staying in the States and saving myself 80 grand is a pretty good incentive not to come back to Australia.. I would just like to say f*ck you, nissan australia. God that felt good
  12. Some pretty closed minded enthusiasts on here.. its going to be a Cayenne killer, nice job nissan.
  13. scathing: yes, I do not know of a word to describe that car, as I do not want to offend gay men all over the world.
  14. my car has 179,000 kms and is probably the nicest looking r32 I have seen come in under the 15 year rule. For eg the plenum has hardly any wear on it.. most cars with < 100,000 clicks just look shagged. My rule of thumb is most imports usually get shaved between 50,000 - 100,000 kms They TRIED to bring mine in showing 69,000 kms, but in reality it had done 169,000 according to the de-rego papers. In my opinion 9 out of 10 imports are shaved. You've found one that isnt. Judge it on the condition
  15. krzsiu and other haters, your comments are not welcome and make you look like immature hypocrites. Try attention whoring in more constructive ways. Idiots, read: it was a private road, the guy is sharing his story to the world and you shoot him down. Great Story, good to hear your boss wasnt a sore loser, albeit a bit close minded. Now all you have to do is go to the drag strip and get yourself some times.. or get a dyno result. What did he say after he drove your car?
  16. During the Holidays I noticed a billboard by NRMA with some road toll statistics and a big URL www.FIXOURBLOODYROADS.COM I took a look at the website today.. Its good to see a corporate body like NRMA taking this stuff seriously and being active. What do you guys think?
  17. pretty stupid rumour.. damn kids
  18. RIM BOUGHT! Thanks to Power Play imports in Sydney for replying to this ad so quickly, you guys are champs!! ** THREAD CLOSED **
  19. Hey guys, please call me 0424 638 303 asap if you have a spare r32 GTR stnadard rim 16x8 sitting around.. need it asap! Cheers
  20. I've run 2 tanks through the GTR since I discovered it.. I've noticed the following difference in the cars performance changing from optimax/bp ultimate: Keep in mind my car was already running very rich on 98 RON fuels. - no more popping! the car does not pop at all anymore. previously it was running quite rich and popping about once per gear change - the car is a lot smoother - the engine is more quiet - the car pulls a lot better Cheers.
  21. I threw it in the trash.
  22. I've run 2 tanks through the GTR since I discovered it.. Particularly those who have not tried it putting in their stupid opinion. Cheers.
