Fitting R32 GTR bonnet to GTS-T without new latch...
pentae replied to predator's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Nice work man. She's looking great! The lightweight GTR bonnet is the goods and no it does not make you a ricer, because who can tell the difference? I wonder what the weight difference is that your now saving.. -
Btw, nothing personal but I think your plate is going to get you the wrong kind of attention mate. Good luck with the fmic and the gtr body panels..

That is the sh*t Lucien.. I wonder if you can get a mini working with those. Are we all sure this thread should be in the general section? New Sub Forum? Anyways, let me show off my toy, ALPINE IVA D-300E The only in-car touch screen in the world with PulseTouch.. its a bit of wank really, basically when you press a button, you can hear it click, it depresses visually, and the section you are touching is "charged" somehow under your fingers so you can feel a "click".. Its cool. You can run your sweaty index finger over the screen (without looking at it) and feel the buttons press/depress. Does DVD/Mp3/Cds/iPod/TV etc I'll post some pics of the GTR tommorow once its installed..

blur: Thanks mate! I really love how its stock too lwells: I'll put HICAS into diagnostics mode tommorow and find out whats going on.. Ahhh.. I thought it may have been one of those double din touchscreens you can pick up pretty cheap on eBay that are compatabile with pretty much all formats.. How bigs the monitor? I really wanted something like this for my car so I can pull wireless net, check my email, use im.. etc. Is it OSX compatible? I have always wanted to set one of these up in the car. It really is the perfect OS for a touchscreen. And the unit is basically DIN sized: http://www.apple.com.au/macmini/

Since I installed it i have not seen the HICAS light turn on once.. except for the obvious christmas tree display as soon as you turn the key in the ignition barrell. Just to check, is the top prong meant to be aligned at 12 oclock 6 oclock when the wheels are pointed perfectly straight? Because my steering wheel was obviously put on straight, thats where the prongs are set up, so its probably just all working.. will do some hot laps tommorow just to be sure. Yeah, I have an alpine unit, its a fold-out single din.. i'll show you some pics tommorow. Xenarc? i'm guessing its a double din unit? I almost went this route, Try removing your ashtray + cigarette lighter (assuming your not a smoker), and install your AC din there, then you'll have enough room.

lwells: i've already installed the momo wheel today.. i'll take some photos for you tommorow. I drove it around the uhh, private race track.. as you can see in my sig and no hicas light. Seemed to drive okay, but I only went for one lap. But yeah now you mention it, I completely moved the prongs around to suit what I wanted to do So are you saying my HICAS is all confused now? I read somewhere earlier today that you can reset the software. Edit: Without having to put the oem wheel back on.. if i have to take it all back off again.. nooooo My touch screen i'm probably going to move the AC unit down one, and mount it between the AC and the gauges.. I am not sure if it will fit at the top or not, folded out as its pretty big (7") I'm doing that tommorow so once i'm done i'll post pics of how my interior is going..

lwells: wow its great to hear from someone who actually knows what i'm talking about.. The people today thought I was talking about some kind of super space car from the future.. ?? Heres the translated link for anyone interested: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...san/nissan.html Heres how it looked in the catalogue today at repco: ON-110, R32 Skyline blah blah blah blah blah blah ON-115, 300zx, R32 GTR And on the HKB site, which is exactly the hub I bought, nice find!! - It says next to 115 "Car such as GTR" and next to 110 "Car" ?? lol.. gee thats helpful The guy at the first Autobarn I called promised me the on-110 would work with hicas though.. oh well. When you say prongs you mean the plastic disc on the bottom of the hub with the holes for the white prongs on the steering column to lock into? (one at the top, a plug at the bottom) Ryosuke: Hey man! Good on you for having great taste in cars. The importing procedure can be risky and unpredictable, but if you can arm yourself with enough dough and knowledge you will be okay. If you can have enough self control to have enough money aside for an emergency engine rebuild and the insurance, then you are probably responsible enough to own one of these If your buying an old GTR the only advice I can give you is have lots of cash spare to maintain it. I'm 22 and I can afford one of these because when I was your age I worked hard, saved and invested in real estate, while my mates all went and spent all their pay getting blind every weekend. Just have an investment plan and a financial strategy before you buy a production race car, and once you've got that sorted, make sure you pick the right one. Make sure you are driving RWD cars only in the meantime, too. Good Luck

People always bag on the s13 silvias looks, and never take them seriously.. there is one silvia that deserves some respect, though, and they are pretty rare, and undervalued because of the other 90% of the silvia population giving them a bad reputation. Buy an 92-94 model S13 Silvia K's, (thats the one with the SR20DET) debadge, dewing, lower it on to some nice 17" wheels and it will look very, very cool. Any modification you do to this nutbag of a car will blow your socks off because it responds to mods better than any RB series engine (ala gts-t, ceffy, etc). It will out accelerate the gts-t or ceffy equivalant in stock form, and mod for mod. DONT put a body kit on it, theres not a single body kit for the s13 that looks good, just take the wing off and drop that bitch! I've owned a Pulsar Gtir, I now own a 32 gtr, .. man if you can source a 92+ Silvia K's in manual, in good condition, your laughing. They really are a good car. The best thing about it, was that everyone underestimated it. Heres Why: 95% of the s13's on the road are the old CA18DE or CA18DETs (88-91) or an SR20DE.. not exactly worthy of a performance reputation. The late model K's has the SR20DET, bigger brakes, firmer suspension, intercooler, all in a very good package. Basically its a 180sx with a silvia body and usually sells for about $3k less than a 180. The stock wings on both these cars look gay gay gay and must be removed immediately. The trick is finding one, or having a mind thats open enough to consider them.

Mark, Mate..! Dont worry about it too much, it gives you a legitimate excuse to make your car a project. I know what you mean about how enjoying it is to do work on the car, Today I have been unscrewed quite a lot of the interior for my touchscreen thats being installed as well as installing my leather momo wheel I pulled out of my old s13 before I sold it. It was quite difficult to source a HICAS compatable boss kit for the car from the "usual suspects" autobarn, repco, supercheap auto etc.. most of them didnt know what HICAS was and initially tried selling me the wrong part. If anyone is thinking about replacing the steering wheel on their r32 GTR, the part number is "ON-115" from the "Autotechnica" catalogue that these three major suppliers generally use. The box will be pink with japanese writing on it. They will initially try and sell you the ON-110 which is a standard non-hicas boss/hub for the r32. Don't buy into it! Mark, What are you doing to your car next?

http://panasonic.jp/car/its/ETC/ET700-ET800/index.html Thats it there.. Its the Panasonic ETC. it looks like some kind of in car navigation thing? I just realised theres the black 'bug' shown on the website mounted at the top of the windscreen.. Wonder why it needs a disc? Anyway its been torn out
-
nope, its DEFINATELY not big enough for a FD .. (looks a lot bigger in the pic) its a bit less than 10cm wide. Maybe someone from the Japan section can help.. I'm sure its not worth anything here in Australia but its bugging the hell out of me to know what it is.

Erin, those are really great pictures you've taken. Good work.

Anyone? benmn: Thanks buddy, yeah I will definately be doing that..

Hey Guys, Click Here FOR 12 PICS I took of the car after a clean!! I love this car. I'm still bummed about having to wait 6 months, but i'm happy with the end result. Can anyone tell me what the damn thing mounted where a turbo timer normally sits in picture 2 is? Its obviously got something to do with the stereo that used to be there. It says Panasonic on it.

She be a crazy demon with no fuse! Whoa! I just took about 20 photos after a wash, paint clean, polish and wax.. I will post them all up when I get back from dinner.. !
-
Nxtime: Damn, that would actually work. But i'd still need to get out of the car Can anyone please tell me if I can pull the 4wd fuse out / put it back in, while the car is running, without damaging anything? I dont know enough about auto electrics to make my own decision. I think I might just get a simple toggle switch.. for AWD on / off.. I dont care too much about adjusting the drive split.. I just want an on off switch. Surely this can be done by an auto electrician fairly cheaply? Does anyone else have a toggle switch? Can it be used while driving? Thanks everyone.. edit: ps. More pics in a few hours!

NXTIME: Thats a great idea, I love it. And I am crazy enough to do it. But i'm too lazy to walk up the top of the driveway to get the winch.
-
Well my argument is that if you split it up people will find this area of the board more useful, because you come here at the moment you have to dig Call it Car Audio & Security and get someone to move all the old car alarm / tracking threads out of the general forum.

REWARD $10000. 4xR32 GTR's MISSING OVER THE LONG WEEKEND.
pentae replied to 2HYPO's topic in New South Wales
Wintonic: **edited out, didnt initially see that you had apologised for saying dumb shit ** Well after bringing in just ONE (1) GTR, the amount of stress doing that I can not imagine what it would feel like to have not 1, but 6 of them being stolen. I almost cried for you when I read it a few weeks ago. Congratulations on getting most of them back.. lets make sure everyone keeps an eye out for the last one -
LOL.. Yeah, If RWD doesnt work i'll be packing the end of this week .. parking on the street? inconceivable! Mark: Btw, Thanks mate, hows your girl these days? Also, is there anything else I have to do other than pull the 4wd fuse? Anything that can happen that I should be wary of?

Hey Guys. I've got a major problem. I live on the top of a very steep drive way.. with not a great deal of runup. It's short and on quite an incline. I think its going to kill my car. In a normal RWD'er with enough balls, (or even the old pulsar gtir) I can kind of point it up there, give it a bit of revs, let out the clutch completely at the bottom and storm up the top. (This is the ideal way to do it without burning out my clutch) I've realised that with the GTR and ATTESSA it kind of bogs down on the low end on anything below about 4000rpm, the poor car putts up the driveway and is either burning the crap out of my (a) clutch (B) transfer case © gear box .. or maybe all of the above. It smells bad. if I give it enough to do a proper launch i can still smell the clutch burning, so either way i seem to lose. The only solution I can think of, is tommorow i'll try taking the 4wd fuse out and see how I go, and rely on a bit of clutch slippage at the bottom. I'm probably still getting used to the car but having to rev over 3,500rpm every time I want to go up my driveway seems excessive, and I dont want to damage the transfer case. What do you guys think?

Gtr R34 V-spec1999 Model 35000km
pentae replied to widebodygtr's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Hey Guys, I looked at a 34 GTR late last year for sale for $63k and it was one of the earliest r34 gtr's brought into the country. it had had a minor to major accident and had been resprayed in a non original blue colour. It was still a great buy at that price. By the looks of things this is a great buy and somebody should snap it up. Good luck with the sale. -
Hey Guys, Its been raining all day today so I have not been able to get pics.. I am exhausted! The mechanic report came back with: - 165 to 168 psi across all 6 cylinders - rhr axle oil seal leaking - front upper inner bushes worn - front and rear discs, pads, rotors need replacing - front upper shock absorber bushes need replacing - front caster bar bushes need replacing I drove it around (on trade plates) for most of today and she drives very well, everything works, the air con will need regassing. With a bit of effort I managed to remove both of the cup holders, unfortunately one of the vents was already broken and moves on its own, so i'm going to see if i can repair it with super glue when i take Gav's advice on fixing the bubble in the dash. writeoff: Yeah! I feel your pain man. I spent most of today in prayer driving around like a grandma letting the car get used to functioning again.. I'm so glad everything seems okay because the spare cash i've had sitting around for the car has been burning a hole in my pocket for 6 months, and now that its finally here i'm a bit poor Its finally in the garage wooohooo!!

Were Can I Get This Magic Can From?
pentae replied to TiNTiN's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Would this be of benefit to the rb engines?
