When I get the gtr back tomorrow i'm taking the wing off and checking this out.

They where off the shelf dumps, and other than the muffler the rest was custom. Dyno, no, I havent yet. I already can feel a problem with the car, i'd rather take it in when its healthy! which i will do once this problem is sorted. All up it cost $1700 at mates rates.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I reset my ECU (unplugged the battery and stabbed the brake pedal several times, then reconnect it) .. mild improvement but still just as powerful as the car was before the exhaust. The exhaust fitter said he had to slightly customise the dumps to accomodate the o2 sensor.. maybe its that. I'm dropping it back in tomorrow morning.

What i'm trying to say is that the car has about the same amount of performance as it did before, now it just sounds louder

Hey Guys, My car has been at the exhaust shop for the last 7 days getting the following exhaust system bolted onto my stock GTR: - 3" Stainless Steel Dumps - 3" Fabricated Front Pipes - 3" Mandrel Bent Piping - 3" Hi-Flo Cat - 3" Muffler This is an upgrade from the stock exhaust system which was shagged. I went for a 3" System because I believed that the low down torque and response would be better than a larger 3.5" sized system. The guys spent a lot of time doing it and there was a few minor setbacks (rusty old exhaust system was hard to get off the turbos etc) The car sounded pretty good of course, so I jumped in it and the first thing I noticed was the complete lack of power. The thing feels as though its bogging down under full throttle, sure it has an underwhelming amount of life in the 4,000 - 7,000rpm top end, but anything under that and it is hopeless! The popping is a lot louder and it just seems to be trying a lot harder for bugger all difference in performance. Can anyone offer some light on my situation?

I agree about the non turbo comment! Good work! I started with an s13 q's.. 92 model manual, immaculate! But lets not kid ourselves, in stock form they are BOTH f*cken ugly cars. The r32 is slightly heavier and has less 'dorifto' handling characteristics. Your far more likely to slide around like crazy in the wet in the s13.. its hell fun but pretty manageable. The s13 looks shit hot if you dewing/debadge and drop it. Same with the r32. Edit: Just FYI, if your going the s13 get the SR20 engine. (ie get the latest model you can afford) .. also, they are a bit of a bugger to sell so make sure you offer the guy 2 grand less than what he's asking and bargain in from there. Then with the spare charge, invest it, dont spend a cent on your car, drive it for a year or two then upgrade to something turbo. Good luck!

I have heard of people who have GTR badges on cars that are not real and they have come back to their car one day and its been keyed to the bullshit.. be careful.

are there any imperfections (ie warping or bubbling) on the dash? Cant see very clearly in those pics. How much would shipping cost to get it sent to Brisbane? Cheers

Big Rizza: Cool post, pretty accurate.. agree with your descriptions and percentages, however I dont agree with your danger ratings, if it was me i'd change them around For example I think that crazy 4wd owners are far more dangerous than guys who drive imports. (I find usually import drivers have sunk so much money into mods and insurance they are too afraid to actually strap the shit out of their car, or at least do so in a dangerous fashion) Good post though!

Most guys who do this stuff I find are usually bored, and provoke us so they can hear what a car superior to theirs sounds like. No big deal.

I know people who spit on or mess with skylines that shouldnt have a GTR badge. If you come back to your car and theres a loogie on your windscreen it might be a sign of things to come.. Put your $95 towards something that will actually make your car go faster
