  1. Your also all forgetting about the spastic amounts of grip the GTIR has over the enormous RWD whale.. Lets not talk about twisty roads!!!! I have smoked r33 after r33 after r33 in the gtir. We're comparing two very different cars, and anyone who thinks their r33 has a chance against one is a dreamer unless $8k+ has been spent on go fast bits. I currently own a GTIR and to be honest, I prefer the riding position of the Skylines and prefer RWD. (you cant do skids in a GTIR.) Lets all keep it real though ps. my gtir is for sale if anyones interested.. $16.9k ono - pm me you know you wanna
  2. We can all agree that the GTR is in a different world compared to the v8, I just enjoy reading the article that illustrates the point
  3. Actually merlin I am about to sell ONE of my investment properties to fund the purchase of an 89 model GTR. If your interested, its: $95,000 2 bedroom 1 bathroom townhouse in a low income area rental return $120 per week, already tenanted. And as for the "dumbest idea" someones ever heard.. its really not that retarded.. if you buy 4 cars, sell them for a profit of 5k each thats a 25% return within a few months. Particularly if you sell them once the 15 year rule is abolished and nobody has r32 sevs compliance yet.. r32 prices will skyrocket.
  4. Looks like I now finally have an excuse to throw out my mouldy copy of that wheels edition next to my toilet.
  5. Whatevahhhh! The car is very very good for the price.
  6. I would hate to have that much power and no gears.
  7. its the USA they can do anything they want..
  8. lol! it helps that the thing is stock too mate Part of the price absorbed when compliancing is involved is removing aftermarket parts and buying stock parts... Not much of a big deal with this one. I just dont get why people think that because a car isnt in Australia, and they cant see it, touch it or drive it, that all of a sudden has to be a lemon. As I said the cost saved by importing gives you a LOT of room if theres anything actually wrong with the car (thats an IF) For example I'm about to import an 89 model r32 gtr.. sure I will pick one up for about $20k.. but buying in Australia is going to cost me around 23-27. This gives me enough of a saving to take the risk, and if something does go bang i will be no worse off than buying locally. If for whatever reason theres something about the car you dont like, you can sell it and try again. Thats what I believe a few of you are missing Oh, btw I'm pissed I missed out on this one: http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/?/au/...sp?StockID=2611
  9. Rezz: How are you mate I get defensive because I have used Geoff as my import agent, and infact i'm now using his service for a second time and he's a really top bloke! As someone who has imported through him in the past he is the firts person to recommend against buying a car, as are his suppliers and buyers. I have asked him to look at a few cars on Auction and his people have come back with "Dodgy.. next" The Auction system works great and I think the grading system seems to work pretty decently. Because this car is from a supplier it would be interesting to know what grade it would be if at an auction Oh, and if anyone wants to know what I think, judging from the photos I believe the km's to be genuine. Or if it has had a haircut the km's look to be less than 50,000km judging by the condition. Still an awesome buy. At that price you could afford an engine rebuild or turbo replacements.. and your still getting the car cheaper than what you will pay here locally! Hows your r32 treating you?
  10. Yeah.. you'd think a shipping company that moves hundreds of thousands of cars a month would have a jump start kit handy.
  11. Sometimes pics get carried across from other cars that are presumed to be the same car. One auction for an r33 I saw a picture of a corvette as the first or last picture,. what the? Instead of bagging Geoff and his business reputation on the forums email him and he'll fix the mistake.
  12. Some of the idiotic responses this thread amazes me. The amount of misinformation that has already been thrown around should have the thread locked. So many people think they are experts on these cars, when infact the real experts are the people who go and view/appraise these cars every day and are working for people like Geoff @ Prestige Motorsport. Every car that the inspector views or is produced on geoffs website is scrutinised with far more professionalism than a few kids on an internet forum, and after importing through Geoff I will confidently tell ANYONE who doubts this being a genuine car that all the info he gives you is as accurate as a poke in the eye. If Geoff says he believes those km's are genuine I believe his opinion over ANY of you so called arm chair experts. Someone picked up a GTR in close to immaculate condition with less than 30,000kms on it yesterday for $29,000. The interior is virtually concourse. Seems like some of you cant come to terms with that.
  13. ocean: Sorry mate, it was late last night.. the article was from '91, not '01. post edited.
  14. Its good to know my old man still has a sense of humour.. He calls the Kia Carnival the Kia "Circus"
  15. Buy a 34 GTT. Not many P-Platers driving those.
  16. With that said, the McLaren F1 is still the pimp daddy of cars. What a fantastic, respected machine.
  17. I welded two V6's together on the weekend. Anyone can do it! Disclaimer: the above statement might not actually be true.
  18. Edit: Typo - Its August WHEELS 1991 - Not 2001!!! The next article they did about the GTR was the R34 GTR vs HSV GTS in 2002. 10 Years apart I dont suppose anyone would happen to have a copy of this article from '91 that they could scan in for us?
  19. Wow I had no idea the 325i was a 6cyl.. here I thought the 6cyl BMW's where the 5 series.. Lets face it though, 8+ seconds to the 100km/hr mark is pretty boring. However its a nice looking car.. how much is it worth?
  20. Sounds cool funky, Let me get in before everyone else and say I cant wait to see pics
  21. The bimmer in question is a luxurious, well built hyundai excel. (In relation to performance) Expect it to accelerate and corner horribly compared to your r32. I had my friends 96 model 318is for a week and I recall it being a really impressive looking bucket of shit!
  22. For the money that bimmer costs, surely you'll have enough to import an 89 GTR?
