  1. Hey Guys, Sorry in advance to the moderators for making two threads, but its a pretty important issue that affects all of us who drive imports. Lets stop being selfish and worrying about today, and start worrying about a few years from now when our cars are getting old and it comes time to upgrade. I am not an expert on the topic but I have started a thread over in the 'Legislation' area of the forum that EVERYONE needs to look at.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=48685 If we dont start writing into our political figures and telling them that the existing SEVS system simply is not working we will be sitting around in a few years from now scratching our heads saying 'man I remember when it used to be easy to import a skyline' ACT TODAY! I've written in and had my say, you guys should too.
  2. A lot of you may not know this, but our government is once again stopping Australian car enthusiasts from enjoying their cars and what makes us Australian. Every month the Government, and in particular the Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS) is trying to pass laws to make it more time consuming, expensive and risky for us to import the vehicles we love to drive. You might love the car your driving now, but what about your next car? Did you know that DOTARS have been putting a lot of importers, compliancing centers, car yards and many other small businesses tied into the import industry out of business? DOTARS have publically admitted to actively trying to restrict the amount of import vehicles, and seem to be motivated only to support the large suppliers so they can continue to rip us off with locally delivered cars. If you love your car, your probably not going to want to settle for a 2007 model holden commodore when it comes time to move forward, because it seems that if DOTARS have their way, importing an R34 or the other latest offerings in Japan in a few years from now will simply cost too much money or not be possible. If things where left the way they where in 1998/99, in a couple of years we would be able to import '99 model R34 GTRs for the mid to high $30,000 mark. The previous Minister for Transport and Regional Services, the Hon. John Anderson MP was recently removed and was replaced with the Hon. Jim Lloyd MP. I recommend to everyone to take a look at the following URL to 'school yourselves up' on the reality of these laws THAT AFFECT ALL OF US AND OUR CARS here: http://www.r34skyline.com/politics/our_sub..._submission.pdf Teaser: SAU Gets a mention! And contact your local MP, in person, by phone, by fax.. whatever it takes. It's come to my attention that politicans dont take emails seriously, so if you can print a letter and send it in the mail, pop in and visit them, or give them a call it makes a MUCH bigger impression. The new Minister for DOTARS, Jim Lloyd needs to hear what WE THINK about how his department has been run in the past, and he needs to know the reality of the situation. IF WE DO NOT DO THIS THERE WILL BE NO 'IMPORT SCENE' in a few years. Contact details for the Hon. Jim Lloyd MP are: Email [email protected] Parliament House Contact House of Representatives Parliament House Canberra ACT 2600 Tel: (02) 6277 7060 Fax: (02) 6273 7112 Electorate Office Contact Gosford Office: Location: 91 - 93 Mann Street Gosford NSW 2250 Postal Address: PO Box 577 Gosford NSW 2250 Tel: (02) 4325 1604 Fax: (02) 4323 4555
  3. Okay einstein, Why is the r33 + s14 stock quarter mile times the slowest out of the 3 series models nissan has released in the last 15 years? It might only be '50 kgs' and the 'engine is so much better' Why is the car SLOWER and drives like a boat in comparison? NISSAN Skyline R32 GT-R = 12.80 sec <-- looks like its still the quickest huh? NISSAN Skyline R33 GT-R = 13.30 sec NISSAN Skyline R34 GT-R = 12.90 sec NISSAN S13 sr20det = 14.30 sec NISSAN S14 sr20det = 15.10 sec NISSAN S15 sr20det = 14.50 sec Because 50kg is a HUGE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT in general car terms, the dimensions of the r33 are WAY larger than the r32 in general car terms. The weight might be less than your girlfriend weighs, the difference in width/length might not be much longer than your dick, but we're talking about a car. 50kgs IS a big difference, and any dimension increases not measured in mm IS a big difference. Just by looking at an r33+r32 parked next to each other you can tell the difference in size, and which one is styled like more of a circuit racer and which one looks like a big grand tourer to cart your mates around in with eminem playing. Theres nothing wrong with the r33, its a great car and I would probably own one. But the problem with the r33 is its WAY too overrated compared to the other skyline models, and even other nissan imports. This is because so many guys on this forum own r33s and have never driven anything else. My 2 cents. ps. And if ANY of you pricks jump on here and start bagging the figures i've posted, or anything else back it up and be constructive, like I have.
  4. I have driven a 350z and and an r34 gtr. The 350z does not impress anyone more, trust me. My point is, why do Jap car manufactureres make european styled cars to have to sell more cars? I thought they where all ready doing pretty good making jap styled cars.
  5. Your comparing a 350z to a GTR? Dont be an idiot, thats my job. You go sit in your 350z, I'll take the R34 GTR any day, thanks.
  6. R33 + S14 = two of the ugliest, slowest performance cars nissan has ever built. These cars removed a lot of the raw emotion the previous models in the series had. Just check the performance figures. The only thing they have going for them is their price + age. The models are affordable for most, and not 'too old' for most buyers. Plus Aussies love big cars, so the whale is in. This is why nissan backpedalled for the latest model series. Why do you think they decided to make the R34 lighter, smaller, more responsive? Same with the S15? They found a good thing for the r32+s13 and went back down that path in a more modern package... simple! R32, R34, S13, S15 = :uh-huh:
  7. Well, err.. I need scissor doors so that my obese mother-in-law can get in, thats all.
  8. Guys we're not talking about those cars. We're talking about how stupid it is that jap car makers are COPYING european design.
  9. (sorry to revive a dead thread) funky: No no, people are searching on carsales.com.au for skylines to BUY!
  10. Blitz: The 350z is a great car. It just looks like nissan went 'hey the Audi TT looks pretty cool lets do that'
  11. Nismo_boy: --snip-- Me and my Mom love you nismo boy!
  12. Honda Accord Euro. 350z. Maxima. You know the ones.. Am I the only one who believes that jap car manufacturers should stop making cheap versions of european cars? If I want a bloody euro looking car I'll buy an Audi/Merc/Bimmer!!
  13. Whats worse, scissor doors or chromes/bov/stickers ? If any of you knew me the last thing on my mind is rice.. I go for the lowered, debadged sleeper look.
  14. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has pics of scissor doors on an r32 gtr. If not, how much would this cost to get done, and does anyone know who would do this in brisbane? Thanks,
  15. Yeah your right, I should have put "But obviously in a lighter and far more enjoyable package." The fact is, the r32 is more fun to drive than the r33. Even when compared stock to stock, and modified to modified. My personal opinion. Oh. Plus I think they look 100x better on the outside.
  16. **** I will prove to you how common r33s are.. carsales, a popular commonly searched car site, has a listing of the top 5 cars that are searched for on their website. http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!c....private_search The Skyline ranks just below the Holden Commodore, and just above the Ford Falcon. The proof is in the pudding.
  17. People who can't control 'boost kicking in' shouldnt be driving fast around corners in the first place.
  18. I guess thats a pretty valid excuse from someone who's not charging you to do it professionally.
  19. r32 v-spec uses same brakes, turbos and attessa system as r33 But obviously in a far lighter and more enjoyable package.
  20. It would be damn tempting to hospitalise someone after doing work like that and refusing to fix it, thats for sure.
  21. I think your being too kind to them, mate. Take it back and tell them to fix it asap, the longer you leave it the more excuses they can come back with.
  22. Not sure, I am no expert when it comes to paint. Just go back and bitch at them and see what they come back with. I remember the first time it happened thinking that you did pay top money for a top job, and that is not what they have given you on two ocassions. I cant believe they even let you have the car back without it looking immaculate.
