  1. Yeah you can trust Nissan Australia to 'tune down' anything that comes out of japan before they give it to the Australian public. Nissan Australia couldnt even hope to be a pimple on Nissan Japans ass.
  2. if you're bored at work just do what the rest of us do and start a vs thread...
  3. The s2000 has shocking handling and not as much power as you think. If you're going to spend 55 grand and want a respectable good looking convertable, i would scrape together 5 grand more and get a used Porsche Boxster. you can find them from as low as 55-60 these days. Not as powerful as other Porsches by any means, but still quite good as a sports car and definately a better car than the ones you have listed. Let's also not forget you are on a Skyline forum.. A 98 r33 GTR would probably be the ticket as well.
  4. Go the 2.5 inch twin piping from each turbo to a twin 2.5" stainless exhaust at the back.
  5. Apparantly the S2000 is a real dog.. Mini is very funky, fun as hell to drive even though it doesnt have a lot of power (see the "What's fun and whats too fast?" thread) and would be very popular with the ladies. Honda Integra.. we don't get the 'jap spec' type r version which is much more powerful.. Honda australia thought they would sneak it past the Australian public and release the TypeR Integra here as basically the type s with a bodykit. Boycott these bastards. Get the mini
  6. T0ny: Yeah I agree. I think the best way to treat the car is to service it like a road-registered Class-A Race car. Which it essentially is. Complete oil change (I choose Motul based racing lubricants) and service every 5000km's for starters would be mandatory, and will probably save you money in the long run. Making sure the car is serviced by the right people who service these vehicles on a daily basis would be an integral part of owning one in my opinion. Hopefully this will put the car in the 'too hard and expensive to maintain' basket for falcadore owners or young p-plater drivers who want something to hoon in.
  7. GT-Rmgedon: Agreed! I really dig the A/M front headlamps of that first pic.. Does anyone know what they are and/or where to source them?
  8. 24k for a gtst.. ouch.. theres a r32 GTR in brisbane for sale atm for 27..
  9. Maybe Rezz can help me here, I'm looking for some clear front indicator lights for an R32, and while i'm at it I might buy some more modern looking front lights to bring the car up to a more modern looking standard. Could i please see some pics if clear front indicator lights even exist, and how much I could expect to pay. If anyone has some pics of lights like these already on an r32 that would be muchho appreciated.
  10. thrashdemon: yeah, I think in early 2005 when r32 GTR's will cost under 20 grand, every idiot falcadore driver will be driving one and these cars will be very common. The majority of bogans will be climbing out of their VL turbo's into one, and rice them on the cheap.
  11. Rezz: Very very good point about the 17 year olds.
  12. I'm just curious, those of you with BOV's dont find it annoying after the initial new car part enjoyment factor wears off.. after a couple of months dont you find it annoying and just wish it would shut up during your every day driving?
  13. Hey Gerby, Actually nothing pleases me more than to wax some idiot in a WRX or even a skyline at the lights who has a A/M BOV.. If there was no BOV's it would be no fun out there. I just personally think they are lame and was seeing what everyone else thought. Meh
  14. justin, on turbo cars its optional to install a turbo timer which shuts down the car automatically after a few minutes. This is done so the turbo has time to slow down before the engine shuts off. Turbo's spool up to around 130,000 rpm.. so if you drive hard then turn the car off straight away the remaining air coming out of the turbo's can damage the engine.
  15. justin: as RedLine said, take the car to a mechanic who SPECIALISES in imports. I'm not sure who does in Sydney but i'm sure some guys on here can point you in the right direction. Tell the workshop you intend on buying one of these cars, and if they could inspect the one you intend on buying for stuff like accident history and so forth. Tell them when you buy the car you intend on taking it to these guys for services and performance upgrades, and they'll give you a good price. Also, ASK the dealer to show you the cars Auction papers from Japan and what Auction grade the car received (should be a 3.5 or a 4) .. that will also tell you if the car has had any accident history or any other things that the dealer wants to hide. If he can't provide you with the import papers thats very suspect.
  16. hey justin, your Alpha is a nice ride! The Skyline you're buying i'm assuming has less than 40,000km's on it being a '99 model. Take my advice and test drive a few other R34 Tiptronics before you make your decision, that way you will know if this one has been flogged or not (I'd say chances are it hasnt as its practically a new car). The Skylines are descendants of racing cars, so their internal mechanics like the drivetrain, gearbox etc is all VERY VERY tough and can take a beating from a lot more power than what the GTT's put out in stock form.. so don't worry about that. Before the dealer calls you up and pressures you to buy it, go and test drive a few more R34's (Trust me, these things don't sell that quickly, you have at least a week before worrying about it being sold).. plus try asking the guy if he can hold it for you for a week while you "Get finances together" with a REFUNDABLE deposit subject to a second test drive and you need an 'i can change my mind clause'. (double check the paper work!) .. import dealers are unfortunately usually a lot more dodgy than standard car dealers in my experience. If he's a semi-legitimate car dealer he should have no problem doing that. My other recommendation is if you're going to be spending 35-45k on an R34 GTT and you're after a sports car you might want to check out the R33 GTR's in that price bracket. take one for a test drive and do yourself a HUGE favour by comparing the two cars. the GTR is older but probably one of the most exhilerating steers you'll ever have in your life. Happy car hunting.
  17. kr1sh: thanks for being a man and taking my opinion on the chin.. it's a nice car.. get a chunky GTS style badge on the new bar Meh!
  18. matt try http://www.pandablue.com/nissansilvia there are a lot more people there who are experts on these cars.
  19. Lol, yeah either that or the chicks we where hanging out with where stupid. we just shook our heads.
  20. Yeah I agree,.. wishing debadging on someone aint cool.. I just think pretenders suck. Sorry kr1sh. One of my good friends who has a real GTR.. he went to uni and there was a few guys there driving around in fake badged GTR's, he brought some uni girls out cruising with us they said "Oh this is a GTR like Bryan's and Such-and-such's.. What a good car for under 20,000" .. after he had just spent double that money on a real one you can imagine what he now thinks of guys who drive fakes.
  21. kr1sh: Sorry mate, that's totally totally lame. "I don't go around telling people it's a GTR!" dude your car is badged as one! I hope some kids debadge your car.. show some respect for other GTR owners who have to put up with cars like yours that are all show and no puff. Thumbs down on that one mate.
  22. hey kr1sh is that your car in the pic? is that a GTR badged GTST you drive? While you're at it why don't you go buy your ugly girlfriend a fake Louis Vuitton bag.
  23. Hey Steve.. The fact is 99% of people buy aftermarket BOV's that vent to the atmosphere for sheer wank value. They want every girl and restaraunt they drive past to know they have a turbo. There's nothing more annoying sitting at a place having a relaxing cup of coffee with your g/f and some idiot in a rex drives past and changes just as he comes in line with the place.. PSSSHHHTT. I can tell you right now.. HE thinks he's the man but everyone else sitting around thinks he's a tosser. I have driven many many cars with BOV's, GTR's, GTSt's, Supras, 300ZX's.. including s13's with the exact same mods as mine, and a BOV.. and they had a cheaper exhaust system.. Every turbo car i've owned or driven without a BOV has my preference. I have noticed no decrease in lag between gear changes whatsoever. Unless like you say you're running 21 psi there is no reason for a BOV, particularly one that vents to the atmosphere. People don't buy BOVs for this, they buy them for.... Wank factor. It's the same as chrome wheels.
