I dont think the gearbox is an issue, if you want to launch a GTST properly you need to give it 3500-4000 revs to get going. The fact is these smaller, lighter cars like the 200sx's and wrx's are quicker accelerators than the heavier skylines. And to be perfectly honest I don't think there is much difference over 120-130km/hr between a rex/200sx and a gtst as far as acceleration goes.. I've raced GTST's all the way up to the rev limiter on many ocassions and i've pulled away from him the whole time.* I guess the reason we went to the rev limiter was the skyline also felt he had to prove this theory. Of course had it been a GTR.. heh.. wooo! i would have been toast. *on closed private roads.

yeah describe the black r32.. did it have any unique characteristics like wheels.. bov.. Hey tell us the plate number.. we might know the guy or know the suburb where the car lives. Whereabouts did this happen?

I've been driving a few GTR's in my test driving experience, and have been driving a turbo car for a few years now.. And what's the deal with BOV's? It seems like every guy out there with something to prove has one. The only instance I agree with a BOV is if you drive a very unsual turbo car like a mazda familia or something similar, where the BOV tells people 'Hey I have turbo on this peice of crap'. Every skyline I have driven fitted with a BOV has been lame. Every silvia that drives past me with a BOV has been lame, and I have promptly eaten them with my bovless car. I think it's a gimick that was only cool back when imports where an unusual site on the road, and the bov noise has absolutely no mechanical merit whatsoever. Your thoughts?

Guilty: Lets remember we're comparing a car that cost $180,000 ten years ago to a car that costs $40,000 today. As for modern features the r32 still has digital climate control.. I believe the australian delivered s15 has analogue controls that look like shit? I guess the r32 is missing air bags. But it does have racing-standard ABS. Oh right we're talking styling right? Well I guess the s15 looks more modern inside and out.. and if we're going to be spending 10k to make the s15 keep up with the GTR, why not spend 10k making the GTR look more modern.. a tasteful kit, leather interior, respray - wheels? Not for me but it would certainly make it comparable styling wise. Or do you mean the fact that the S15 won't break down as much.. are you sure about that? the part's in the GTR are thoroughly overengineered and i dare say will take more of a beating than the 200's. They have to. I'm sure if you spent the 10 grand you where going to spend on performance mods for the S15, you could get all the major components like the turbo, brakes, suspension etc. in this 10 year old car replaced with new. It comes down to your priorities on what you want in said car. I think the reason we buy these cars is because of how they drive.. I'll take the gtr over the s15 in that department. Oh. AND.... I have a friend who has a GTS-t with an upgraded turbo, massive fmic, bov, expensive exhaust system etc.. all up he has spent 20k under the hood over the last 2 years with upgrades and repairs. FINALLY his car is quicker than my s13.. but he's really pissed off that he can't pull away from me. Overall he's spent more money than buying a GTR and putting a few mods on it would cost. Admittedly his car sounds a lot cooler than mine does. But I think a GTR has mighty fine acoustics.

I am buying an r32 GTR quite soon myself, and after driving serveral GTS-t's.. I won't even waste my time with them, no matter how modified you can make them. The GTR is a totally different skyline. A much better skyline.

hopefully it will be good enough to dramatically drive down the price of the R34.. which means.. cheaper R34's for us! wooohoo.

Good point Penfold. I've never driven a HSV VS that's for sure, but you're probably right, a basis of comparison is crucial.

I think "True" seat of the pants drivers will prefer the fact that the r32 has more driver feedback and feels like more of a race car. Have you driven both these cars T?

I can't believe nobdoy here digs the r32 gtr over the r33.. So far it looks like the R33 GTR is favoured the most. Are there no original godzilla purists left? or am I the only one?

If you're going to spend s15 money, just get an r32 gtr.
