Great thread.
Really enjoyable reading, I agree with a lot of points.
I think this is the main thing that swayed me off the skyline GTST's so much.. (particularly the r33's..) they are SUCH a big car! And as stock comparison do times almost as good as my s13. The problem I had during the test drives?
The Skyline did not feel as small, chuckable and FUN as my beloved 20det' silvia. Because it was such a big, stable ride, you really have to push it to the edge (which is quite illegal) to make that smile creep across your face. Track day? Definately.
The lame-as-hell FWD barina I was driving around in while my car was being repaired however.. floor it around every corner, rev the hell out of the engine, gobble up the gears and you FEEL like you're racing (shitty suspension, nippy bite, shitty traction and handling) but you're actually doing under the speed limit.. lol!
Moving right along. my next car is going to be the R32 GTR. It has mind exploding performance in a relatively small car, and I believe even at low speeds you can still have fun in this car... more to the point over the R33. It has that same chuckability, has the image, its the right price and you know if you leave it for 10 minutes in a car park, unlike the later models it won't get scratched by some jealous Ford owner.
If the world turned on its head tommorow and R33 GTR's and R32's where the same price, and the same age (impossible, but hypothetically..) I would DEFINATELY go the r32 gtr for the reasons stated above in this thread.
