I would admit to speeding, and heavily deny racing. Say you have no interest in racing another car, you where simply in a hurry to get to where you where going. You even slowed down to let the other car through.. the police can possibly verify that. Argue that if you where racing, why would you slow down for another car? Isn't racing about trying to go faster than another car?

The reason you don't see many evo's around is they don't represent very good value. The Evo has wind up, wind down windows for example. It's also a pretty uncomfortable ride.. the only thing you pay for, the only thing you get.. is the 0-100 and 0-400 times and the driving experience. The GTR gives you that as well as stuff like .. *gasp* air conditioning, power windows and those kind of features. Also I don't really feel justified paying 60k+ for a 4 cylinder turbo car. I'd take the R33 GTR.. get a later model vspec.

A good lawyer will make a mockery of the police who pulled you over, make them look like idiot and basically sum it up as "they couldnt pin my client for something they can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt." If you and the Soarer guy have the same story you will be very sweet.

yeah i always let my car warm up first for a few minutes. it's much better for your car, esp if its a turbo. Then when you do take off be very gentle on her until the temperature gauge is at the normal position. This will really increase the life of your car mechanically.

Street racing is subjective and at the discretion of the polices opinion. I would suggest getting a good lawyer if you want to keep your license and deny racing black and blue, and act annoyed about the entire situation. I would also deny hitting any speed above 60, as it sounds like they are not getting you for speeding, but getting you for 'street racing'. The fact that you don't drive a turbo skyline gives you a bit of room to play.. Suggest that if anyone was racing it was the police in the SS commodore who obviously could'nt pull you over for speeding because you are a law abiding citizen and you where not speeding. If you get a good lawyer he'll give a myriad of reasons about why your car being impounded has ruined your life financially, personally and mentally. Talk to the guy in the Soarer, if BOTH of you deny with absolute certainty that you where racing, the cops are going to have a hard time proving it.

I would also like to point out that Nobody has mentioned yet that the R32 is about 5-8k cheaper.. for those of you saying 'the r33 is a more powerful base to start with..' how does the r32 compare as a base to start with after you've used the money you've saved on mods? I'd rather a totally decked out r32 gtst with 8k of performance mods than a stock r33.

Godfather: Yes Stereotypes suck. But after looking into all the cars containing these GTR wannabe owners.. they are all young P Platers. So consider what I said a generalisation.

I agree with franks. I elected a 3" straight through exhaust with a 3" tip. I told the exhaust shop I wanted it done to be as silent as they could make it.. Yes I knew it was going to be loud. I said this is why I kept the tip the same size, and opted for just a no frills stainless muffler, no rice cannon thanks. The result? A very very smooth and powerful sound. It's definately, but loud in a powerful way. Like a european super car. Not like those guys driving around in civics (and some with silvias) with 4.5" tips that sound and look like a milo tin rattling. Sounds like shite.

What are your thoughts on those P-Plater kids who badge up their GTST's with GTR badging and put a GTR kit on them.. or HALF a GTR kit (like the front half) and are too cheap to do the back? Personally if I was Prime Minister I would make it legal to put a baseball bat through their front windscreen. Their adverse affect of the general publics perception on the real GTR's sends a chill down my spine, and I don't even own a skyline. And almost turns me off buying a GTR. I can just see it now.. I go over to a mates place and hear his missus say "Oh my friends Son has one of those GTR Skyline things" I would be interested to hear what real GTR owners think of the pretenders? Should we get some stickers made up for real GTR owners, courtesy of skylines australia? "Not A GTR Pretender"

The government is cracking down on imports, and singling out "Grey Import" owners and to be honest pissing me right off as a tax paying citizen. Today I heard on the radio that QLD Transport is bringing back P Plates, and thinking of putting curfews for p platers as well as limiting the number of drivers in cars after a certain time at night. I'm no longer a P Plater but what the hell? Before you know it the government will charge import owners triple rego for some stupid reason. If they go any further against our hobby, let's organise a protest cruise and get the media involved.

Blitz: For the record, I LOVE r33 GTR's. When one drives past.. and it's REAL.. damn I can't take my eyes off it. Such a bloody excellent steer.. it's the closest thing to driving perfection i've ever experienced. Who's with me?!!

XPL, if you are SERIOUS about buying a car.. a post on this forum won't do.. too many conflicting opinions. IF you are SERIOUS and want to put your money in the right spot for you do this. Test drive the following cars in the Nissan performance family of that era: - a stock r32 gtst - a reasonably modded r32 gtst - a stock r33 gtst - a reasonably modded r33 gtst - a stock 2 Litre Turbo Silvia - a reasonably modded 2L Turbo Silvia I dare say, because i've owned all these cars that the 2l turbo silvia is the fastest out of the three, but also the smallest. A bit more under the radar than skylines usually. The 2 Litre turbo Silvia is a very light, fast, nimble handling car that is a fantastic boy racing machine. Not many people will respect it as much as the Skylines because of the bad stigma the lower 3 versions of this car has given it. (1.8 litre non turbo, 1.8 litre turbo, 2 litre non-turbo). Great to race with because 90% of the OTHER Silvias on the road suck in comparison, and everyone thinks they can beat you. Proving to them otherwise is a joyful experience. Everyone expects to get toasted when they line up against a skyline. The r33 is good if you want lots of road respect, people staring at you as you drive past.. but it's quite heavy and handles not as well as the other two cars. This car is probably the top target for thieves and vandals. The r32 is good if you want a mix of both worlds If you had to have a skyline this would be my choice.
