Advice On What To Do With Insurance After A Car Accident!
SLDN-31 replied to SLDN-31's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Thanks for all your input guys. First off the accident was tiny their is a tiny dint on the quarter so i`m not worried about other damage as i don't think any will be found. I went and got my quote from the AAMI repairer just before it came to $90 less them my guy I used R31nismoid`s advice and said to the other guy "the last guy i took my car to scared me a bit he quoted 3 grand" he agreed and told me the other guy was dodgy and for a good job will only cost mid 2`s lol so yeah happy with my quote i got. Next is to wait for the assessor and see what will happen next Thanks for all the input again guys ill let you know how i go! -
Hey people the other day my Girlfriend was driving my 33 down the main street in Sunbury and stopped at a set of lights, A lady then reversed out of a car-park and hit the side of my car. She admitted fault and called her insurance company straight away. Now AAMI (her insurance) called me and this morning and I told them that im not going take my car to their assessment centre for them to take it away to get repaired. So i have to get them two quotes one from my choice of repairer witch i have and one from their preferred repairer. So i will go see one of their guys this week, after this an assessor will come out and see what quote they want to go with. This here is my problem my quote is 2.5K and im guessing they other guys will bee cheaper and nastier that's why they would be a preferred dealer. I cant afford to have my car away at a shop at the moment so i am going to ask the insurance for a cash pay out and then i will have to get it done later when i can go without a car. What i can see that is going to happen is that they will go with a cheaper quote (probably their one) and i will get less cash then i need and then ill have to pay the rest, So it will cost me money for an accident that was not my fault. Can they make me get this quote from there guy? even tho im not insured with them the accident was not my fault and i have nothing to do with AAMI can they just pick where i have to take my car to get fixed or what quote they want to pay me out on? it just sounds very unfair at the moment.

A Few Problems With My Car I Am Trying To Fix
SLDN-31 replied to SLDN-31's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i cleaned up all the water and changed the plugs, cleaned my afm and changed my air filter, i also just chucked my mates afm on and it made no difference im thinking about getting some new coil packs (kinda needed them anyway) and see if this helps a few weeks good lock out of it? might be worth spending the cash on a 2 way and not having to worry about it any more? Thanks a lot for your input mate! -
Hey People I am trying to get rid of a few little problems that my R33 is having at the moment. Just so we know what we are dealing with, its an R33 Gts-t Series 1.5 it is fairly stock at the moment but does have a front mount, split dump pipe, 3inch front pipe, hi flow cat, 3.5 inch cat back, Turbo smart boost T (running 11 PSI) , Copper NGK plugs gapped at .8, BMC panel filter and a walbro pump. Problems: 1. Missing, this started to happen after the massive rains that we had in Melb on Friday night i was driving home threw lavo and did not see the massive amount of water across the road i hit the water and almost instantly the car started to miss, I got threw the puddle and pulled over everything seemed ok. the miss went away after a few seconds and all seemed ok. as i was going onto the free way I put my foot down and the car revved as usual but when it hit 5,000 rpm it was lke it was on the limiter. it would not go past 5k and missed very badly. the next morning i went to work and the car was fine until I was 200m from work and it would not hold idle and would not rev past 2K. After work i pulled out my coil packs and tops of the plugs submersed in water i pulled the panel filter out and there was a pool of water in the bottom of the air box. I mopped up the water and changed my plugs and cleaned the afm the car ran and idled better there is still a miss from 4 - 5.5k but it will rev threw this. 2. Diff, Lately my diff has decided to switch between an LSD and a single as it likes. I always believed that if this happens you change the diff oil and a good chance it will come back but after talking to a mate he says that this is a wast of time and that I should shim it as well as changing the oil because oil buy its self wont do a thing. do you guys agree with him? Im sure that there are more but I just cant think at the moment so ill add them as i go along LOL, Hopefully you guys can help me. Thanks!!

Hey guys my car had a HKS pod connected onto a hard pipe from the turbo not the stock rubber one, the stock BOV was blocked off and was running 10 psi. The car also has stainless split dump pipe, 3inch front pipe, hiflow cat, 3.5 inch cat back system and a front mount. As far as I know the car is running a stock ecu, stock coil packs and stock turbo. Today after being defected again I have put the stock rubber intake pipe back on, connected the stock BOV, put the factory airbox back on without the snorkel and put a BMC panel filter in the air box and left it running 10 psi. The question i have is, is it safe still running the same boost? or can i run more? the car is a daily so I don't want to run stupid risks of killing the motor to be honest the car feels faster runs smother and I cannot hear the turbo spool or the stock BOV, I love it the car sounds like an NA R33.

R33 Daily Build
SLDN-31 replied to SLDN-31's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I haven`t put anything up here for a while but not much has really changed my interior plastics from my gear stick surround to my dash surround have started to go all crap and the paint on them is pealing and really lets the inside down. I tried to sand it down and paint it black but you could tell it wasn`t original so I have scraped that idea and started to look for immaculate ones for sale witch I have not been able to find so at the moment I`m not to sure on what to do, weather I keep on looking or carbon wrap the old ones I have Im just worried with the carbon wrap the inside might start to look like an autosalon car. I also finally put the HKS pod on but have not made a box yet im not to sure what material to use and how i should actual design it. Last week was the worst week and most expensive week that i have had with this car so far I went to get some new tyres Monday 245/45 R17 for the rear and 235/45 R17 on the front. The next day I went for a drive and destroyed my clutch it would not dis engage so I towed it to my mates house Wednesday morning we pulled the box out and the clutch plate was fused to the pressure plate and the fly wheel was marked relay bad. I went and got a PBR/RPM 5 puck brass button clutch and also got the fly wheel machined as well. Tuesday arvo we started to put it all back in and spent 4 hours trying to get the box back in but it would not go we put it down to the shit plastic clutch alignment tool and gave up for the day, the next day my mate went into work and made me a new tool exactly the same as the input shaft we used that and bingo box slid in. On thursday I went down to flemington to pick up some parts as I got there my clutch pedal fell to the ground. We towed it back to my mates house and found out the little pivot ball that the clutch fork pivots on broke so box out again put a new one in and its sill good and all fixed i think! Car up and box being pulled out New clutch that we put in While the clutch was getting put in i put that tar shit on my top pipe after reading about it in the DIY section on this forum. encase anyone is interested we used a Jaycar temp sensor and display we put the sensor in the pipe and it showed 8.5 deg hotter with the tar on the pipe! And just random pic of the car clean before new tyres went on Ill try to keep updating as i go -
