No offence but this is not a reliable experiment by any means and doesn't consider a large other number of factors that could result in you not sleeping. In saying that I have not read the rest of the conversationg about this and could be completely wrong in what I am saying.
Probably one of the only things I strongly dislike about the area of weight lifting/gyms/supplementing is the pseudoscience that is carried hand in hand with it, and how easily opinions and 'hearsay' are dismissed for facts and knowledge.

Tell me about it, I can barely go to my gym after around 3pm. I go between the hours of 8am and 2pm, rarely being there after midday, which I sometimes even find me being the only person in the gym, the best way to work out haha.
I agree with the most of your post, but that isn't always true. If for example you're training for strength and working three reps at 90% of your 1RM on the bench press, you would want a spotter. But for the most, you are right and a lot of people at gyms follow horrible form.
