Bang Rattle Rattle Rattle -oh No-, R33 Gtst Sii
itshimdazza replied to itshimdazza's topic in General Maintenance
Guys, Benz: the oil level is fine, the knocking sounded at first like you running over a can on the road that dosnt go away and no the car didnt jerk from recognition. Mosquito: Unfortunately no it isnt drivable , if i try to start its click (like a flat battery) therefore no boost or oil smoke etc... Any other ideas and example of cost for a posible rebuild.... ie standard $ forged $ Regards, Darren -
I havnt started to pull the cam belt cover off just yet...(just moping around in self pity...trying not to think about yet) I cant recall any lights coming on only that i totaly lost oil pressure. I turned it off straight away but its like when you put the key in your igition and all the light light up. there was no smoke either that i could visually see. That car wont start now either...tick tick is all i get Slightly pissed dazza

Well today turned out to be a black saturday for me today. been to pick up some xmas pressies as we do and I took off from the lights sedatley got to 2nd i think and (no bang) rattle rattle loose oil pressure? I was travelling about 30-40kmh and only about 100m or so from the lights and at first i thought i ran over a can on the road or something. I am no mechanic but if seems bad.... Sheez I only had my timming belt, pullys, water pump done 3 or so weeks ago.. Anyway I have confirmed that my belt is still attached as I can see thru the oil cap when the car is in gear and see the lobes move when i rock the car back & forth. So where does this leave me broken piston conrod valves etc $$$$? Car has done only 104k. I was saving up to get the hiflow turbo serviced and put new seals in as it was starting to let oil thru under excelaration So where do i go from here? and who car I take it too in the SE suburbs (Cranny, Dandenong areas) I eventually had it towed back home as I was only 2km from base. was the longest drive home i had . Like a funeral march Next doo neighbour (Nic the wog) says great now put all the big gear in as he starts up his v8 monaro only 10k. Unfortunately I am not that loaded so I need some advise how & where to start with this as is a daily driver not a race car had I think around 196rwkw Need another drink!!! Dazza

Guys i have a 96 r33 with a "high flowed" (supposedly) This is what the guy i bought it off said...anyway 4 months later I noticed a blueish smoke when i give it a burst. This only happens then (not at startup or general running). I have since had a compression test which appears all fine so I suspect the turbo seal is leaking. I did notice i little oil on the silicon seal of the intercooler from the turbo. My question is: where abouts to get a turbo service (replace seals) and does that service include any other checks? also what costs would be involved with this? I live in the Cranbourne area so anywhere in the south eastern would be good.... Cheers guys, Dazza

Anyone In Se Melb (near Cranbourne) Have An Ecu I Can Try In My Car?
itshimdazza replied to wlspn's topic in Victoria

Guys I have a r33 gtst that blow some oil under WOT. I have had the compression & leak down test and all is ok wth that +&- 5psi etc between cylinders. Now I suspect my turbo with I beleive is a stoky but hi-flowed. Now I am wondering what cost would be involved in getting the oil seals checked &/or replaced on this? And of course any recommendations of any places who do this isn the SE suburbs??? Cheers guys, Dazza

Getting A Compression & Leak Down Test.need A Heads Up?
itshimdazza replied to itshimdazza's topic in Victoria
Well guys, I have had the compression test and its about 160psi +/- 5 PSI within each cylinder and all appears well with the motor. Now does this mean its the turbo that is making the smoke? is there some sort of seal inside the turbo? Dazza -
Guys, My car is starting to blow smoke under acceleration (oil) and am about to get the compression checked but i need to know what is & should the compression (psi)be, so I dont get shafted by the mechanic? Dazza
-
Thanks guys but your starting to worry me..... Ok so have you guys got any idea what the compression should be? and if thats fine is it the turbo? and how does the oil get to the turbo anyhow (yeah i know dumbass question but i am new to turbos) I know its a standard turbo supposedly highflowed but i cant tell whether this is true or not? actually how do you test the turbo for oil leaks/burns? & last but not least. If its rings/valve stem seals &/or turbo fcan you guys possibly give me an idea as to cost (ball park figure) of those things (individually) to get repaired!!!!! Dazza (nooby)

Guys i know there is a bit of smoke from your exhaust when yo go WOT, but color should it be? I have noticed that i leave a trail of lightish blue smoke (oil?) should it be of a black color? I am hoping it not my rings or maybe head gasket? so what color should it be and what should the cylinder pressure be if i do a pressure test on each cylinder be? Dazza

Guys i have an eEcutalk which is blue but I am really after a green one to match the radio (which is green) I am going to mount it under my radio in the 2nd Din spot so i thought it would look better if they were both green. If you in Melb (perferably in the SE suburbs) and want a 1-1 swap (I know the blues are @ $10 dearer but i dont really care give me a buzz. I know i am being pedantic but i just want everything the same.... Dazza Not sure if this should be in this forum or not, apologiesit it isnt

Guys i have a R33 GTST Series 2 with a full 3" cat & 41/2 inch cannon exhaust presently but its a tad loud. (we all have this i guess?) Anyway I am after getting it quiter and have been quoted @ $900 from Dadler (dandenong) Exhaust's for a cat back 3" with 2 mufflers (non cannons) . The first one put in front of the rear axle which is a straight thru and the rear with an offset and a lovely crome tip be it round or oval like the HSV type. Now does this seem a good deal? these guys seem to know their stuff as they do sound test's What has everyone else done to quiten down there cars but still have some 3" pipes and mot try to lose too much in powre?
