Is the airbox still available? Is it complete? How much did you want for it? regards Andrew -

Do they come with the centre plates and screw in nuts? Any gutter marks on them? regards Andrew -
Thanks for your reply Tommy. My car has had K&N inlet pods fitted on it by the previous owner (standard airbox didn't come with the car). They sound good but I suspect they aren't as efficient as a factory airbox from a cold air point of view. Bonus is that it would look stock under the bonnet with a factory box on it too. Nothing to swap with so I don't think we can do business. Thanks anyway. regards Andrew

Thanks for the tip. An R33 one will do if anyone has one then. regards Andrew

I'm after a standard R33 or R34 GTR airbox if any one has one lying around or can get one. PM me or [email protected] Any assistance appreciated. regards Andrew

Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems
archie1 replied to archie1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I'm still waiting for a set of Winmax pads from Bel. Reminds me I must email them and see if they will ever come in. My car is off the road at present with some radiator/oil cooler changes but soon to be finished and then I'll get back on the case. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. regards Andrew :headspin: -

Thanks for your post. Might explain why the Winmax pads are so popular. If they stop the noise they will be worth every cent! -
Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems
archie1 replied to archie1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
No luck as yet. Still waiting on some "Winmax" front brake pads which will hopefully cure the squeals once and for all. Will post an update once I have them and they are fitted. regards Andrew -
Awesome Mark, Which shop did this for you? Did they do anything trick with the top tank to stop all the water short circuiting the passenger side of the radiator? Have to compare notes on R34's sometime. regards Andrew

Fitted this radiator yet Clint?? What do you think?? regards Andrew

Mine had pods on it when I bought it and I'd like to try the factory setup with a cold air duct. Anyone got one of these lying around?? 99 non-V spec if it makes any difference. Post, PM or email me: [email protected] regards Andrew

Interested in how the ARE units perform. They are over $1k but looking at the design, as you say, they are a cross flow, dual pass design which looks superior to the "normal" PWR type top-bottom unit. ARE have never done an R34 if it makes any difference. Anyone have any thoughts regarding the benefit of either design?? Pic of the ARE unit attached - quality stuff. Any input appreciated. regards Andrew

Thanks for your various posts everyone - haven't jumped in until now as interested in what everyone has to say. PWR have responded to my inquiry - $795 retail plus freight for a 40mm single core aluminium version which will directly replace the stock one. I assume this is what you are using on your race car Sydney Kid?? If so my engine doesn't make anything like 650hp (and won't even if I launch into further mods) so should keep me well and truly out of mischief! Will keep everyone advise of the results if/when I take the leap. Cooling capacity is not something you want to be short of in Australian conditions with turbocharged cars. Its interesting that my car is marginal cooling wise in standard trim - never a problem in my WRX days as they seem to have over engineered cooling systems stock?? Small price to pay for stepping up to the GTR though! Thanks again. regards Andrew

Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems
archie1 replied to archie1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yep - tried that. It definitely helps, but just delays the onset of the squealing. Once they are hot and at low brake pressures it starts again...! Thnaks anyway. regards Andrew -
My R34 GTR cooling system struggles on warmer days duruing extended periods of using the performance (on boost) - not that you can do it for that long on the road these days. Oil temp isn't the problem as my car has a large engine oil cooler already fitted - stays around the mid 80's most of the time. Looking at previous threads it appears the R34 has a thinner radiator than the earlier models and my problem is pretty common. The MFD allows you to check the exact water temp which interestingly is a fair bit more accurate than the factory temp guage - ignorance is bliss I suspect on a lot of modern cars with the temp guage indicating "normal" at quite high coolant temperatures. Temp will get close to 100 degrees when using the boost up big hills on hot days without too much trouble. If I went to a track day I suspect it would be worse. Not a problem to date but pretty hard on the engine. Any tips for a radiator upgrade? I have emailed PWR and ARE and am waiting for a reply. Jap versions are available at considerable cost $2k+! Are these the go?? Didn't want to spend more than I had to but would like some safety margin in the cooling system for any future mods. Any help appreciated. regards Andrew

Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems

Thanks for your post Mark, R34 GTR V spec are the same callipers that I have on mine - no difference. R32 and R33 V spec take the same pads but callipers are slightly different I'm told. Mine has the "gold" Brembos identical to the Track model Nissan 350Z. These have the different diameter pistons for the leading/trailing section of the pad which I don't know if the older models have?? Have ordered the Winmax pads from Bel Performance but unfortunately out of stock at present. Will definitely advise results once they are fitted. If they cure the noise they will be worth every cent! Out of interest Bel are interested in the results also so we will all find out soon! regards Andrew -
Help - Front Brake Squeal Problems
archie1 replied to archie1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hello Mark, No real luck yet. I've posted this question on a couple of forums around the place and the conclusion I've come to is: - The Ferodo DS2500 is a noisy pad due the performance nature of it. I've tried making my own shims, stick on shims on the back of the pad, copper grease on the backs of the pads etc with no change in noise whatsoever. - The Brembo calliper is designed for maximum performance first and everything else second (including noise) - My car has slotted/drilled rotors fitted front and rear - this makes the noise issue worse than it would otherwise be. I'm in the process of buying a set of the Winmax pads for the front as they promise to be significantly quieter than the Ferodos I have now with only slightly less performance. If they are a good thing as promised I'll keep the Ferodos for track days or if serious fanging is planned. regards Andrew -
Check these out - not R34 but if you can live without the gold paint I suspect they are very similar. http://forums.skylinesdownunder.co.nz/show...&threadid=35029 regards Andrew

I'm after some centre caps and centre nuts (two actually) to suit some Racing Sparco NS-II wheels. Would someone know where I could get some or know someone that would have some lying around? All help greatly appreciated. regards Andrew

Good theory if you live in Sydney and have numerous wheel alignment places to choose from. Theres one place within a 150km radius of where I live (central Tablelands NSW) which has the right gear to do a four wheel alignment and who I would trust to do it properly. Yes, I have talked to them about the wheels being refurbished and that I didn't want them scratched etc. They were reasonably confident than they could do it without scratching them but wanted to check them first and woudn't do the job if they couldn't guarantee no scratches. I've been thinking about getting a second set for track tyres anyway so thought I would kill two birds with one stone - hence my post. I thought it was a simple question - thanks for your comments anyway. regards Andrew

Have to see how I go - may have some cheap second hand wheels for sale in the next week or two!! regards Andrew

Thanks for your reply Maxx, I suspected as much but that gold paint (on the callipers) had me fooled. regards Andrew

I Need Cheap Dba Front Rotors!!
archie1 replied to Driver's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Try www.discpads.com.au - you will have to email them as I suspect the rotors you are after won't be in the online catalogue. I bought WRX rotors off them a while back and they were as cheap as anywhere. regards Andrew
