  1. nice plenum that turbos not laggy at all, it has as much power at 3500 as any 3071/76 or 2835 ..Brilliant result..
  2. but just for the record this has happenend all within the last 3 years. There was no "may or may not have" the belt was not changed..if this was via his instruction or not I am not as yet 100% sure but I will find out..also if the belt had been changed with a mazda genuine belt the car would have been good for at least another 120k ..but it didnt make it past 90k. And wether or not the car was out of warranty is irrelevant as its the dealers negligence that caused the issue not the car itself.. As for proving it was the timing belt, well that is very difficult but what else would cause your valves to hit your pistons..? Basically nothing you said has any merit, the only thing that does really is what Massrc said about the statue of limitations which pretty much destroys any case he has..
  3. ok ok no need to rub salt in the wound.. if you were a good lawyer you would make it happen
  4. yeah I see now it is probably too late to do anything about it now..why the silly old bastard didnt do anything about it at the time im unsure.. Anyway my gripe is not with anyone here just these dodgey ass crooks that charge top dollar but fail to provide a decnt service.. Especially when said dealership received the "Dealership of the year Award" no doubt for their success at ripping people off.. Anyway as the old saying goes.. Pay cheap get cheap Pay good get good pay through the ass and you get raped.... This thread die now :
  5. im not intentionally argueing with anyone, im just throwing it out there to see if anyone thought it was worthwhile even going to a solicitor..but general consensus seems to be dont bother. Personally I would have chased them up over it the minute it happened, why he hasnt Im not sure, guess is he couldnt be bothered with the headaches.. He has definately been stooged and people on here seem to think somehow it is his fault or he deserves it and has no leg to stand on..these people probably the same people that sell dodgey goods and services for a living.. I can understand when someone like Trident sympathizes with the situation but to merely throw it out the window, well you would have to be a heartless crook..
  6. cheers for the info Trident..as usual cosumer is faced with a lose money fighting it or lose money fixing it situation so wadayarekn. ACA ot TT.. Maybe Negus even
  7. im sure at the time the only thought on his mind was fix it so I can get back to work..he doesnt have time to waste argueing the legalities of it there and then.. Which brings up another point why could he not also sue for lost time at work?
  8. you seem to be missing the point warps he paid good money to have everything done by the book and it wasnt..
  9. as far as he knew it was serviced by the book until it went bang.. i asked him what happened he said timing belt, i said didnt they change it he said No..
  10. as far as he knew it was serviced by the book until it went bang..
  11. im pretty sure he got it fixed by Mazda Birds.. And the gearbox is fine so is the clutch actually.. As for 5th gear going ,pretty sure it says in the book to not tow or carry heavy loads in 5th only 4th gear..
  12. he has entrusted the care of his car to not only an authorized service shop but the seller of the vehicle.. Id imagine they are expected to follow the service manual when doing so.. Now lets imagine for minute your wife/ family member had good money to have their car serviced by the book at a dealership, then one rainy night as she is driving home the enigne seizes causing a compression llock maybe which sends the car spinning into a tree and she is dead.. Or lets say they forgot to do a bleed screw on the brakes up properly and her brakes diedi.. Is that ok because the car is out of warranty too?Are you saying you wouldnt seek some kind of compensation? there is nothing stupid about this thread other than people who think he has no right to stand up for himself after being blatently ripped off and possibly had his life put in danger by an authorized seller/servicer.. I know the car is way beyond it now but that is hardly the point.. The car was serviced there for 160,000kms and it wasnt serviced properly..the reason he has never sought advice on the matter is because obviously didnt know any better, he probably didnt even know what a timing belt was until it snapped and estroyed his engine, he just some guy who Mada figured they could rip off..
  13. huh? he had it repaired at his expense! Please dont stupid my thread man..
  14. So im talking to one one of my workmates today whos has the same bt50 ute as I do.. He has 400,000kms on it and I was basically asking him about reliablitiy etc.he said its been great to him but... At 220,000kms the timing belt snapped and basically detroyed his motor costing him over $2500 to repair. Now hw always had the car serviced with that Mazda dealer he had bought it from, they had been stinging him 450$ a hit for general servicing...wtf...it is in the service manual that the timing belt needs to be changed at 120,000km and this was never done so surely they have some kind of legal obligation to fix his free of charge.. Amongst other things it also developed an oil leak from them not changing (and no doubt overtightening) the sump plug washer, luckily another mechanic picked up on it before damage was done. The engine light is also stuck on but Mazda apparently have no idea why.. Anyway he has all his receipts and i think he should be taking them to court over the matter, is it worth the effort ?
  15. Pretty sure it wont fit Scotty can I have first dibs on the turbo if it doesnt fit..
  16. What are these, where do you get them, where do they go and how do they work..?
  17. You never cease to amaze Disco..
  18. hmmm..look what I found http://www.e85performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=997 nearly 12 months, not one reply and these guys have nutted it already
  19. i was reading something a few days ago where a guy had put e85 in his mildly tuned honda with factory engine mgnt, his friend had the same car with the same mods but on pulp so they raced. His friend got the jump on him by about a car length.. He caught him in second then pulled 2 car lengths in 3rd.. He monitored the car for a few weeks then gave up cause he didnt want to do damage or install a piggyback i assumed it was cause it wasnt tuned, but maybe it has more to do with what your saying..but if its less dense why are egts rising?
  20. EGTs and manifold pressure are basically related, responsive turbos usually have small rear housings to help spin your turbine wheel faster.. Problem is it will only flow so much.. More power = more exhaust gas..Try pumping too much exhaust gas through a small housing and it gets red hot. It also backs up and gets forced back into your combustion chamber which is the last place you want spent exhaust gas when you are trying to pump fresh air in there..
  21. shouldnt make much difference will just make life easier for your gizmo id imagine... Fuel pump dude? you have changed it havent you
  22. f**k mate ill put a WG on for u
  23. what fuel pump you using?
  24. Has an AVO HD actuator, i would of thought it would be sufficient.. Trent is a magician and if there is a problem i reckon he will find it but , is it wrong to say that there is every possibilty that this is just the nature of the turbo as AVO have said..
  25. can some clarify for me where this term "discopotato" came from..?
