the avo housing is modelled of the standard skyline housings and is sized between the 21u and op6. It is a completely different design to garrett housings.. It may of worked to some extent but would of been holding back a very capable turbo ..if you wanted more power down low should of got a smaller turbo..like the 3071 check out Russmans project build thread shifty, thats closer to how a gtx3076 should be set up if you ask me.. Why did you decide on the 3076and not the 71 anyway? It was quite obviously to big for your goals I doubt it..if you want to make people happy stick it on a 6boost with external gate crank the boost up to 20 something and rev it to 8k.. It will make 350 plus and people wont look at your low down power anymore they will be too busy marveling you huge powah..unfortunately this will probably cause the rest of your car to fall apart .. But atm you have 80kw at 3500rpm.. Even My ancient crap turbo makes 160kw there.

thats a nice dyno sheet .even .82 IGs dont hold boost so well... its definately ennough to convince me, I've actually been looking at a .73 rear EWG, (unsure on compressor as yet, depends what turns up), for something a little different, it will possibly fail like alot of things I do but a mans gotta try

more importantly what boost is it running to get 270?

thats actually a pretty neat job for what is essentially a backyard mod.. so how well does it hold boost, would you say its any better than in IG? iE does it hold boost till redline or still drop a few psi

thats another good point Stao I also think they will have been designed for the new gen 21st century engines

well it is Garrett so i very much doubt its a fail, could be some time before its win is found though through different setups and tuning. i was reading some old threads finding info on my old tech to4s turbo and many were actually skeptical when the GT series of turbos first came out and thought the old tech was bettter. I mean even gcg thought they could relable a to4s and badge it a 3071r like nobody would notice a difference, no doubt they made some money doing this but they were obviously not as good and the line was dropped..Now the GT is probably considered the benchmar of modern turbos, so just wait and see I think there will no doubt be surprises in store

I was actually trying to keep it hidden under the heatsheild, but that doesnt look too bad at all.

^^yeah thats what i was worried about does seem a nasty angle to have it on...... but I really do wonder if having it on the housing would be any better..

yeah they are monstrous turbos.. Im just wondering is it a good idea running the gate there or would it just cause boost control issues..

yeah even getting bolts/nuts onto it looks like a real PITA!! but there is only 1 extra gasket for the gate as most with a bigger turbo already need a spacer plate and 2 gaskets..

so any one been curious enough to try one??

looking nice Dave.. but.... to take full advantage of the pretty new intake your going to have to do some wire tucking . Dont want to spoil all craves good work with ugly wiring now do ya

+1...i thought it was ok for the first 1000kms or so, now i hate it.. box feels horrible..

so do you think a leaky turbo is pressurising the engine? Is that the cheapy ebay turbo that lasted years?
