An australian product shipped from the states , go figure...

I have removed a rear before , i used this tool I got it from a windcreen supply warehouse for about 35$.its basically just a handle with a bent blade on it and another handle to help you drag it along, you could make one if your clever enough.. Im not sure if windscreen places like obriens would sell them but if you find the people that supply there windscreens they should have them.. Its a prick of a job but if you keep the blade clean and sharp it csan be done with patience There is a wire that runs around the rubber and apparently if you hook it up to a battery and heat it it soften the rubber, though i have never tried this way the wire does exsist good luck finding the ends though.. But basically you just have to be really gentle and cut your way through the rubber ,i think I did use a hairdryer to soften it a bit as well. Heat, slice, heat, slice And make sure you dont twist the screen by pulling on one corner or something you have to keep it flat, lay down in the car and push it with your feet gently if you can once the rubber is cut away..It will test your patience..GL..

turns out all that black goop was the old paint, so i stripped that and thuoght id just leave a black plastic finish, but it looked no good, So turns out it has to be painted anyway, so got some metallic grey to match the car

sorted close thread..

thanx, yeah my aircons long gone so thats no issue i can rip the sensor out then.. theres an intercooler where aircon used to be.. I was thinking maybe a dark silver, or even a black chrome sort of finish, nt sure if there is paint like that but. Did you just use normal paint , does it stick ok..

so i pulled the dash out to fit a stereo and guages and generally just needed a clean up as there is allthis black goop stuck to it, and theres a big crack i need to repair as well. what im wondering is should I bother painting it while its out.. car is gunmetal grey colour, stereo is a lighter grey and chrome so doesnt really match anything but it was given to me and has bluetooth so its gotta go in. So is painting the dash cool or just tacky cause i really cant make up my mind, if so what colour.. Also should have posted this in here as well http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/350420-whats-this/page__pid__5625911#entry5625911

Terrorwatts is where its really at

just like mine..except mines better depends on condition really, if its mickey mouse with good paint and everything works maybe 10k-12k, if its a bit ratty maybe 6-7k.. Really depends on the condition and how much you like the car and your mate...Personally i wouldnt pay more than 10k I paid a mate 15k for mine bout 4 years ago, its in pretty good nick with 130kms on it but I think I paid too much. Then Old Mate spends it all on a wedding and gets divorced 6 months later ,silly bugger..

theres a spot for a switch that i dont have but next to it is a few holes with a sensor of some dsort, im guessing its something to do with climate control.. i dont care about climate control as long as my heater works, so is it ok if i hack it out to put a gauge there?

This.. And more often than not its the new cars that have the baldest tyres. I dont know if its just neglect or if its people overspending on the car not realizing they cant afford the maintenance but it really is appalling. And to make it worse we have this "Big wheel" craze with people affording ,or worse financing, 20+inch rims but having no cash left for decent tyres.

Well i never seen this thread when i did mine and not wanting to splurge on new gaskets when I did it I used a thin line of sealant (grey stuff from memory) all way around, prolly no need hey, im not even sure they old ones were no good i just did it thinking better safe than sorry and now you also have me worried I have overtightened them as well, why is it so important not to overtighten. Im a pretty bodgey backyard mech at times, ( Although I just invested 25$ in a torque wrench thats about as technological as my toolbox gets), but i dont usually over tighten things just tighten till it stops turning freely then give it a nip. WHile im at it should ex manifold and turbo bolts be torqued or just tighten ? Cause I just gave them an extra hard nip ...

Which Tyre Would You Guys Go With?
ARTZ replied to Penfold's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
in 255 or 235? pretty sure i priced them a year back and was quoted about that for 235s..255s are a differnet story..not as popular and therefor $$$ -
yeah looks fine, eyelids maybe, tint it definately some better mirrors would look good.. But Id Leave it the way it is mostly and install a killer sound system, maybe some nice seats as well..black leather for the sexy.... carbon craps a waste of cash and will only spoil that nice shiny black paint..

Its overkill if your not playin games on it but too much power is better than not enough.. I built an old one for my bedroom runnin of an old celeron d 2.8 chip,2 gig ram and a 4350 1gig card that cost me 45$ new .its a useless computer , but makes a perfect media centre . Though it freaks out a bit when i try rewind live tv For something decent youd want at very least a dual core or i3 processor 4 gig ram, dedicated graphics (a 70$ card will do fine if you dont play graphics intensive games) I find Nvidia cards to have a much smoother picture than ATIs, make sure it has built in fan If you have a decent surround system fork out another 50$ or so for a dedicated sound card as well, they make a world of difference to sound quality.. A tv card should only cost about 40$ but ideally you want a dual channel card so you can watch one channel and record another(mine doesnt do this ) and you will want the biggest hdd you can afford..probably best run a small hdd for programs and OS then a big one for movie storage

yeah i got nankangs well under 200( but i know a guy)..Damn good tyre for the cash I paid, very predictable, grippy and stiff sidewalls, great in the dry, bit sketchy in the wet though, but when its wet im in no hurry anyway. An odd thing to note though a kuhmo 235/45 or maxxis will look fatter than a 255/40 nankang, they are very slim tyres, but good Most shops Ive spoken to have said they are better than ferals Kuhmos are great as well wet or dry , i found them to be alot softer compound than the nankangs which is good for comfort.. Id be going nankangs or maxxis out of those u mentioned though, aslk nicely they may drop 20$ off too. -

Holy crap you can buy Konis for less than that.. or a set of adjustable coilovers start around 1200..IM guessing you paid that fitted though.. What sort did you get sportsrider.. Pedders make good suspansion, Id say there are better for that money but I guess thats the price you pay when you get them fittted..
