The appeal is that real men drive utes, havent you seen the bumper stickers.

You didnt try going up the inside of him did you? Cause you really should give a B-double space at a roundabout its just the courteous thing to do.

yeah but the jjr ones ar5e 30mm which is bit bigger than i was going to use.. Whiteline have 22,25,27mm i was just thining to use the smaller of these. Im also wondering now if the feeling im getting is because of the loss of contact at the front from the excessive camber as you mentioned, but i do like the steering response and maybe a slightly bigger rear bar would rectify it.. On another note i just remembered i still have hicas maybe i just remove this first
-
I do tend to corner like a manic on occasion, better than getting speeding fines right? Yeah i usually thought it was the front ones for RWD cars a swell not sure where i got in my head to do the rear..Maybe too many slow tight corners, been reading a few articles and maybe i have it all wrong..
-
I bet it was that damn peeweee bird that sits on everybodys car at those lights that caused it... I knew that little f**ker was up to no good, there every day standing on my mirror and pecking at the window I bet he pecked the driver in the head or something..

having 2 cars rocks, if i break my skyline I can stick it on a trailer and tow it with my ute... And if i break both of them the missus picks me up ey...Life is peachy EDIT..Just remembered i have no garage...

FMP...

yes i know the front is a tad excessive for the street but thats the way i bought it and I like the way it feels. Doesnt do alot of ks so not really concerned about tyre wear either. I may take it to a track someday The crisp feel in the steering is no doubt because of this and i was thinking that stiffening the rear up may make it turn in even better and get rid of some of the floaty feel in the rear Its not that the understeer is a problem i was just wondering if i could make it a little better than it is for a little outlay but maybe its not worth the effort..
-
where did you get your radiator, it looks like mine but better, mine looks like it was welded by a drunk
-
Wow its like you read my mind, or my topic in suspension. Interested
-
Its not tragic understeer but the back just wobbles around a bit more than id like it too, the front turns in crisp as but the back doesnt quite follow the same front is -3.5 already not sure what the back is at just normal i think, is it easy enough to adjust rear camber here cause i was thinking of doin that as well, -1 camber maybe and a 22mm bar JJR dont have any stock and whitelines are about 250 from what i can see , I still havent tried my rear strut brace yet maybe that will make some diffence
-
Ok so my suspension is pretty standard aside from a anb old set of bilstein shocks/springs, but she handles pretty well i feel and turns in crisply,(though shocks could probably do with a sevice). I've been wondering on getting a slightly thicker rear swaybar to reduce that slight understeer feel you get on a long bend and also hoping it will sharpen up tight turns somewhat. Does this sound like the right thing to do. Will it make a difference much. Any suggestions on something not to pricey ?

Yeah was talking about a built 25.. RIPS is a good deal but is it compatible with his current setup is the big Q. I mean its no good getting it to find out its not, then you have to spend as much again to set it up properly. But a decent bottom end that can handle 8000rpm , decent pistons alone could provide some extra torque, It may not make much more power but it will make it quicker and stronger for longer.. Plus buying an engine form NZ means alot of hassles if it plays up, not like u can drive in and complain, and there is plenty of good engine builders nearby his area Im not knocking the 25/30 at all just adding another point of view.
-
I bought a new aftermarket radiator for mine today and it came with a 1.1 cap Im not sure if i should use it or not..
-
Maybe, Does your turbo drop off now or would it handle a 8-8500rpm redline? Cause i get the feeling that some more revs and some extra comp (say 9.5) would make it deadly fast and responsive. But im only guessing.
-
"Bottom end machined by TCH, new pistons, rings, bearings, bolts from Just Jap. Head cleaned" just out of curosity what could one expect to pay for this..?
-
Wow..thats actually alot more affordable than i had imagined.. Well worth considering What would a quick rebuild on a 25 block set you back, im thinking 1500-2000 with rebore, quality bolts, bearings and pistons. Only thing Im worried about is your turbo not liking the extra capacity cause then your going to be forking out for new turbo as well, then you would probably need new injectors ..................... And so on the snowball begins.
-
why is everyone pushing for another monster engine build when its all been done before, he has a near perfect setup already ,just needs a new bearing or something, id consider some better pistons maybe even consider some slightly racier cams but probably wouldnt bother, just fix whats broke and get back to driving it.. PS..return flows are pox, build something ridiculous like mine

or f**k it gut it and track it... Sorry to hear bout ya car Joe new slugs and a bearing kit she'll b right mate..Or yeah, Go crazy.. Hears a cool big end bearing story for ya.. Did it on the way homefrom a scoot down the franga freeway, driving home and she just goes clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk, makes it home where i parked it and fgured id deal with it in the morning. So next morning a mate had dropped around to have a geezer at my busted vehicle..He was big into wearing white at the time too, white pants, white shoes, white shirt, bleached blonde hair, ya know how it is.. Anyways i pop the bonnet and hes looking as i cranked it went clunk clunk clunk again but not fire, so i tried again, next thing i see a fountain of oil and him stand up from looking under the bonnet dripped in oil from head to toe, I cracked up laughing of course.. Turns out a blockage somewhere (probably bits of bearing i guess) had split the filter open at the exact moment he stuck his head under there and spewed oil right into his face all over his nice whites and all over the road .

R33Gtsts2 - What Clutch?
ARTZ replied to Torques's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I got an excedy HD and 240kw seems to be holding up fine so far,(daily car also cops some abuse) feels firm but not to heavy. On another note my release bearing started making those noises one time, for the couple of weeks it was doin it i stressed thinking $$$, then it fixed itself and i never had a problem again..Sometimes you just get lucky.. Althought i do agree totally, the system these days does ( in vic anyway) not really allow for common sense to be a factor, its a case of abide by the rules in their entirety or be punished. Even though it is proven not to work , they laugh all the way to the bank but cry as people still die on our roads. You speak of bad luck Op, but yours is not a case of bad luck, it is bad management that has you where you are, if you have lost your license 3 times in the last couple of years you really have no sense of common sense and are the reason we all have so many rules to abide by. If you still wish to blame the system, well then i believe the problem is that instead of someone taking the time to teach you how to drive properly they have chosen to throw you out on the roads and teach you by punishment when you fail to adhere to the laws. Either way you have failed . So stand, be flamed and take it like a man, not cry like a baby

nah, i have a bt-50 diesel now, doesnt come on to boost till well after 2000rpm (maybe 2400ish) and it drives quite nicely off boost cause of the diesel torque, when it does come onto boost you only have about 1000rpm till power drops off so reving it any further is pointless really. You can keep reving it but it doesnt make anymore power after about 3200-3500 rpm.

Cool so the missus got out just in time to take the trip up here and I now understand why no-one has taken the time to reply.. There is just so much going on here, there is a dust festival on, plus a sunbaking and fly swatting contest and the shopping centre is so busy that most have closed their doors, Im guessing they couldnt handle the Xmas rush.. The Gap View hotel gets pretty exciting around 2pm but dies off just as quick, and the cue at the Drive thru bottle-O was a record breaker im sure, im talking down the street here..Bojangles wasnt half bad either and I tried my first NT draught here and well, it definately tasted like beer Apparently theres a big rock and some desert parks (not sure what that means yet but i guess it is a desert with swings) out here somewhere thats about the most exciting thing to do so maybe i should go do it.. NB..i have seen a white soarer a blue wrx and a black rx7 but no skylines....

add to that its a diesel so its not like it spends long enough at high boost to get too hot anyway, unless you thrash the bejeezus out of it
