Im far from an expert ,but i figured that with the extra strain/stress caused by higher compressions and spring rates etc, that a thicker oil would be benefecial at startup..Seems to make sense really.. And from what ive read and heard people with hi-po engines appear to be using heaveir oils. I guess its all dependant on usage to street, drift, drag etc i would consider to be the biggest contribute to what oil i would use, as a rule i generally stick to the viscosity suggested in user manuals for daily cars which is usually somewhere between 0-40. Dependant on enigine age and condition as well but i use cheapo 20-60 in my ute with 350000kms on it, 15$ for 6L and a free filter at repco..been using this for over 150000 without a problem, i just let it warm up a bit longer in the morning is all, and top it up once a week One thing i have noticed cheaper oils will not last as good as a good synthetic, they will burn away, ive had mobil 1 last 50000 and barely needed a top up, however cheap oils will burn and should be checked regularly if you do this they are fine..

Hey i put this oil (motul 8100) in coupla weeks back, 75$ at repco for 5L, not to rich and i reckon its great stuff, noticably smoother and maintains pressure nicer than the dirty old mobil that was in it.. considering putting it in my honda too I bought it cause some hot chick said so in a magazine add R33 is easy as to get to only ever do filters up hand tight and youll never have a prob getting em off, if you cant get it off, get some bigger muscles, the 8100 is 5-40, from wht i figure it will thickin up pretty quik, plus my engines stock so not under much stress on start up, for hi-po engine would definately use thicker

+1 mate your car has almost double the power my car does, but i spend all my time driving an old mazda ute, when i get in my line its an absolute dream to drive, i dont really try to race anyone or be a hero i just enjoy driving it, the way it turns in the way it revs out & pulls hard all the way to redline...i just love it I would like the sorta power u got but dont have the $$...but i enjoy it enuf anyways... Call me pov, but sometimes to much of a good thing makes it not good anymore, Your only asking for more headaches building another car when you already have an awesome one, xr6 turbo is nice but will never be a skyline and are rarely (if ever) better You would kick yaself with the money you lose, i reckon buy a nice luxurious daily , something comfy and safe doesnt need to be too powerful....stick the line in the shed till you get bored or have a mid life crisis...lol..you may lose money keeping the rego up and all but your gunna lose cash selling it anyway...And when you drive it you will drive it with purpose.. That being venting the frustration that comes from daily commuting a normal car Like Jay Leno said on Love the Beast, why sell the car, just buy a bigger shed... Just my 2c

HEY thanx guys i really did think something is leaking, guess ill just have to keep looking, and no i didnt think to check the exhaust for leaks just the intake stuff mainly i took all this off (bar the intercooler) to check turbo shaft and didnt find any cracks in piping is there anyway i can locate leaks or just keep looking, do you think it would be the controller at all..

Got no idea whats going on here, car gets to about 4.5 5k rpm , usually in 1st 2nd sometimes 3rd gear...and squeels like a mofo and stops making power..checked turbo shaft no play, cant find any air leaks though it seems plausible this would be the problem...have checked all belts (as it sounds like a fanbelt squeal but worse) there good, Not sure if its overboosting but i doubt this is the problem have no boost gauge yet, but can tell its not boosting properly when it squeals Only thing ive put on it is a turbotech boost valve , which was working fine, but maybe could be the problem.. i may try removing this now see what happens anyway if anyone has any clue...

Yeah something about small loans they dont like... friend of mine got a 20k loan for a VR back in the day (20 yr old with absolutely nothing to his name & a full time job for 3 or 4 months), trashed it within 6 months went bankrupt because of it...but institutions still lend him money and he keeps screwing them over, he hasnt paid tax in 7 years or more and owes centrelink well over 10k ...kinda funny actually, but i couldnt live with the stress myself.. To make things better/worse, they just put him on a pension cause he ends up in the ward when he cant handle the stress Chalk one up for the little guy.....

While i totally agree with you on the housing market... although she has to pay a bit xtra for the car she now has the peace of mind of a car that will last her the next 5 years without problems, which means getting to work everyday which is a necessity..sometimes 5k is a small price to pay for peace of mind eps.. banks are of course out to take our cash, but in reality most people are..banks are just really good at it

If your credit rating is clean, you have a deposit and the loan is secured anyone will lend you money, never take no for an answer, Or pay a loan consultant a coupla hundred and they will push it through for sure.. my credit rating was f**ked and a loan consultant got me 8000 from commonwealth bank.. they said no but he made them say yes somehow..i consider myself greatful and have never missed a payment and they have lent me more since try get it yourself may be a bit harder.. an eg.. i loaned 8000 a few years back total repayments were about 11k another loan we had was 11500, pay back about 17k but if your commited its easy to pay them off quicker, and i have never been asked for any more than my last few payslips..to prove that i am working.. Sometime you just have to tell them what they want to hear..once you have 1 loan if your good to it, its referance and anyone will lend u cash As for the housing market it is complete rubbish with everything way overinflated atm..15 years ago minimum wage was 4-500$ a week but you could buy a house for 80-120k minimum wage has only gone up about 150$, but basic housing has almost tripled in price due to banks lending anyone money, nobody thinks about whether they can afford the house anymore all there worried about is whether or not they can afford the monthly repayments...without any real though of the next 30yrs So everyone jacks up houses to ridiculous prices knowing someone will pay it as long as they get lent the cash..The people that do have cash to buy houses dont care how much they pay for what they want because they have the money Meanwhile everybody is blaming each other..The Poor blame the rich for ripping them off, the rich blame the poor for not paying back the money, but who wants to pay back somebody that ripped them off....Classic 2 wrongs dont make it right.. Ill be f**ked if im giving a bank a million dollars for a 1/4 million dollar house...ill just keep buying lotto tickets if i win, i win, if not, ill rent f**k it...when my house breaks ill blame the landlord and not stress till i die over a mortgage ..

OUCH1.. nearly ddi exactly the same thing myself last weekend , was doin a hundred when i notcied it wasnt shut properly, luckily i caught it in time, sounds like it could of done some damage,, As long as i can remember shit kept going wrong with my cars, its called a learning process ( thats what i keep telling myself anyway) a while ago i changed my diff, all seemed good took it took the exhaust shop to get some work done the guy kept telling me something was wobbly when he test drove it, didnt have a clue what he was on about turns out i got distracted when putting my wheel nuts back on i had tightened them all...but then loosened them for some reason, luckily i caught them with about 3mm of thread left, could have been real ugly Another time i i couldnt figure out why my car wouldnt start after putting a new engine in..was scratching my head for goin over everything in the engine 3 times , i wanted to take to it with a hammer....Forgot to plug the sensor on the auto shift that tells the car its in park...duh

dont rely on the internet too many people try to buy cars on the net with no idea what they are like to drive...everyone has different perceptions as to what is good to drive...any car can be good if you treat it right...try stick to decent brands as you would if buying a tv or something...that way you get better resale... Just go down to a carsales place and try a few different ones...youll know what to buy when your in it.. then find one on the net

How olds ya engine..compression still good.. i doubt this is the problem but just an idea....

Doesnt matter , just make sure you get the red one, itll go faster...

Another benefit you will hopefully not have to find out, is that it does supply extra body rigidity in in an accident..my friend found out the hard way..but was told the car would have been alot worse off had the brace not been there after he put his the front corner of his car into a wall

Yeah i had problems with my HP scanner/copier too,...still do..just transer stuff by usb now and i dont use it much the missus does so its her problem... And i will tell you another power drainer is those stupid facebook games...just went in the lounge and shes got farmville, mafia wars, cafe , all running at once and it was running at 75%...60% ram...
