  1. So basically you gave up... But to do what, buy a brand new wrx, would of cost a few $$$$$.. you drove it off the floor and lost at least 5000$ straight away, while in 3-5 years you will be lucky to get half of what you paid for it and your talking about diminishing returns.. Im not having a go cause i can completely understand y u did this.. But if you really have the car bug bad like alot of us here, your gunna want to sooner or later modify this new car as well, which will indeed be a more expensive excercise than your old car was..thus leading to even greater diminishing returns. Either that or you will eventually sell it buy a Camry realizing that you,ve grown out of it Mate i would love to sell my car cause it drives me friggin mental. i also have a hx holden( gts mock-up) i would love to sell..But i just cant do it.. since i was 12 i've been pulling bits off and swapping bits and fixing bits on cars ..i have box loads of car mags that i couldn't part with either..not a day goes by when i dont scream enough, get rid of it all, free me of these mechanical demons that burden my soul.. But then i take her for a drive nice quiet road some nice bends stretch its legs on a straight , no-one around cool night breeze, and all these worries are gone if only for an hour or so.. And if something breaks its exciting cause theres a reason to try something new in its place. When you go out and spend 100$ at the pub on a saturday night do you worry about diminishing returns or enjoy it for what its worth.. Ive driven alot of cars and i still think the skyline is one of the nicest all round rides out there, old cars do break but parts are a hell of alot cheaper than for new ones ,not to mention a wealth of knowledge to read up on..modifying new cars can be alot of trial and error...in 10 years your wrx will be worth 10-15g maybe.. you would have lost 20-30g not to mention service costs and basic maintenance.. over the next 10 years lets say i spend 20-30g on my skyline...It would be one hell of a ride whereas your car will still be just a wrx Only problem i have now is im starting to wonder is this a hobby or an obsession. And if it is an obsession is it healthy... N.B. no offense intended towards your rex. Im sure its a sweet ride
  2. Seen the same thing a while back late at night, it was a supra too but on the monash..cruised up beside him thought id see if he wanted to play but the guy was too busy driving in the grass.. think he was falling asleep... your supra isnt black by any chance...
  3. Mate everybody hates having a big trucker up there ass, sometimes you just gotta take it like a man
  4. Sounds like fun to me famous last words
  5. Righton fellas, the more i been yabbering on here the more i've realized, who cares ..i love driving it, unfortunately theres not the room or oppurtunity to drive it the way i would like.. on the roads so i think my best bet is to get to the track and just enjoy it for what its worth..learn some new skills Its not what you got on paper but what you got on the tarmac that matters. Now i just gotta put me car bak 2geva n hope she works again Just for the record the A/Fs were purrrfect Cheers
  6. yeah , apparently its run 12.4, on stock street rubber, soon as calder opens im gunna go find out for myself i think..might have just been a flukey run..or had a a tank full of metho...lol we opend the ecu up all appears normal, although the sticker on the side says re-manufactured nissan ecu, i havent been able to compare it to any others ..if anyone has pics of a stock label on theres would be interested to see The dyno seemed pretty legit, it was run a year earlier and pulled over 200kw so im guessing that was a happy dyno...and they were throttling it alot harder..
  7. once you take the restrictor out, you will be running 14-16 psi which is about all the standard turbos can handle as far as i know, so probably no point in a boost controller.. i may b wrong
  8. Thats what i thought, but is torque measured on a dyno a reliable indication?
  9. You are joking right?
  10. when you say torque is meaningless ..how so?.. is that why everyone posts kw figures but nobody posts torque? yeah i was told if i wired up two afms so the ecu was tricked to think it was one it could work, however i just figured this would make the car run rich , thinking it was getting twice as much air as it was...which of course i didnt want to do i have seen it done, but only on cars running management
  11. I'd say sounds good for a beginner, and considering the tail happy nature of skylines i,d be tempted to put the new tyres on the back for extra traction out of corners.. should balance out nicely for learning on a track
  12. Dude..awesome link..and a pretty good price too. i got kumhos on the honda .they dont have much of a tread pattern but the rubber compound is sooo nice ,and make for a comfortable grippy ride...funny thing is i do work for and know someone (mates girlfriends daughters dog trainer) who works at melbs kumho warehouse, do you think i can get a good deal...not yet anyways..lol..this price is alrite
  13. Nicely said Peter, however now i feel bad about my accident but rightly so i guess.. I think a good driver should always know who is around them on all sides . I have driven nearly 300,000km in the last 3 years and it is my only real accident. So many people know how to look straight ahead and put the foot down , but when it comes to looking around and turning or merging most are f'ing useless... Can i start a new thread on bad drivers?
  14. i know a place that can recalibrate the afm, if that helps..other than that i have a spare and heard i can run them in tandem, however this would look a little obvious..
  15. Awesome.. do you know one..whats there number? What about the wrong dyno and a good operator? Whats wrong mate did the dyno eat your car?.. Cheer up, the world is beautiful..xcept for mondays
  16. ROFL......... Mate i'm just trying to steer the younger generation in the right direction... Doesn't matter what we say there gunna bloody ask "Y"... that picture cracks me up.. . NEW IDEA.... Buy a hyundai excel..that way you can forget about trying to be cool and concentrate on more important things in life....
  17. thread title says it all r they...who knows?
  18. ok like i said case scenario.. im going to the track for some hot laps in mild gts-t.. i have 2 sets of wheels and i want some semi slicks i have r32 rims standard 16x7 (or is it 6.5) enkei racing (those old school 5 spokes) 17x8 & 17x9 semi-slick tyres for these are much more expensive than the 16s are they gunna give that much (if any) extra grip to warrant the expense or am i better of running the 16s plus with 16s universal size i can swap them front to back , seeing as the front camber tends to wear them quickly
  19. well from what i'm reading a hi-flow could take it up around 250kw..do you think this is acheivable..
  20. From my knowledge lower comp will allow you to run higher boost with out fear of detonation , but its the shorter stroke that will allow it to rev faster. On paper it seems like you could be on a winner. In practice, well it would be interesting to see.
  21. we could only get 11psi with a bleed valve fully open, maybe different now with the turbotech..guess ill just buy a boost gauge and play with it.. i wonder if it would run alright with a slightly bigger or hi flow turbo or would that change everything
  22. Thats what im trying to find out..think it must be...
  23. wrx just sound like a hotted up dak-dak.. why would you want your car too sound like that as opposed to the smooth sweet clean rev of a skylines..A car running on 5 cylinders is never a good sound. (unless its a volvo or focus) I do remember using a drainpipe off the house to replace a corolla exhaust for a while...now that sounded mean . for about 5 minutes
  24. the reason i am so curious is that i was planning to do all the sort of mods u guys have done , but it appears the power is there already and i have no idea why...i bought it off a friend who imported cars .. he said dont worry just enjoy it....but its driving me bonkers... ..haha it does have a lumpy idle maybe its got cams or something, or is this normal for cannon mufflers
  25. says 4th gear.. .max power 186.8 @ 6297 max torque 592 .9 @ 3187 torque stays between 5-600 from 2500- 6500 i was rather amazed as there is not torque curve really...its almost a straight line
