Hey all, this may be a noob question but do metal turbo intake pipes give you better performance? I ask because metal can heat up very fast so the air going in would be hotter. What metal material is the best for intake? Aluminium or steel? Also would heat wrapping your metal intake pipe help with getting cooler air? Thanks also where in Sydney can I get one made or buy one? I’m not in vic so can’t Scotty’s customs or havoc fabrications

Hey all, i need to change my engine mounts and was wondering what product is the best for road use. I don’t want race products but want mounts for a comfortable ride. GKTech has cheap ones but they announce that they will increase the ‘NVT’ level or something so it adds more vibration. Nismo and billet ones also increase vibration. Is it alright to buy used OEM ones? Or where can I get new OEM ones in Sydney cause I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone link me to the oem products or aftermarket ones that are comfortable please? Thanks also, my 34 gtt has hicas delete, do I buy the hicas or non hicas mounts? Thanks

I’ve pulled my skyline apart and need help :\
IM-32-FK replied to IM-32-FK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Intake plenum, rocker cover, all the piping and hoses connecting to them, intercooler, clutch fan just to name some. I actually didn’t pull out as much as I thought the problem is putting them back on in the right order. Like for example with the intake manifold and rocker cover, they need to be resealed with sealant when they are put back on right? Also does the AAC valve gasket need to be sealed to? Where in Sydney can I get these gaskets for a good price instead of waiting for a couple of weeks from eBay? I can get it put back together but I have questions on the way. Is it ok if I ask them in this thread? Thanks -
Hey all, So about 9 months ago I’ve pulled apart a lot of things from my engine bay then went away overseas for a while and now that I’m back, I’ve started to put things back together but can’t figure what goes where. It’s a very daunting feeling and I don’t know what to do. It’s a 34 GTT. I’ve got so many questions and I don’t even know where to start. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this but I’d rather get someone to do it for me and I’ll offer compensation for their time. I got the parts it’s just the labour. I also don’t know which bolt goes where and that is the worse bit. I’m located in Sydney and if anyone is up for the task then hit me up. Thanks

for sale is rb25det gearbox which came off a s2 r33 with 130xxxkm. I bought it about a month ago to put into my 34 gtt which i blew the gearbox in, but decided to sell since because ill be going overseas for 3 months so the gearbox can wait for now as i wont be driving it anyway and would rather have the vacation money. Will also come with a twin plate clutch, dont know what brand, i think it might be ORC. Pick up casula. Serious buyers message or call me 0424 145 383 asking $1500 with twin plate clutch

Battery acid / paint damage / Negative cable oxidised
IM-32-FK replied to Little's topic in General Maintenance
Damn man, how much battery acid leaked? I ran my battery on 15.3 volts for half an hour and it started to leak. How did the battery acid react to your metal in the engine bay? Below the batter tray mine is white and and the railing by the battery it is white now cause it lost the paint. If a simple sand down, followed by primer and paint enough to fix this issue? youre kinda scaring me now lol. Its only been a week since it happened -
Has anyone changed a Cabin Filter before on R34? Hey guys, I want to change my cabain filter/ pollen filter/ air con filter on my r34 gtt and i was wondering if you need only one filter or 2? Because the only listing i see oln ebay is one that only sells you 2 filters at once. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Replacement-Set-2-Cabin-Pollen-Filters-For-R34-Skyline-GTT-RB25DET-Neo-/152176904141?hash=item236e7347cd:g:f3QAAOSwIgNXkhJK Does the R34 Gtt have 2 cabin filters that i need to replace or only just one? Also what is that long foam piece that comes with it? Also i bought a air con vent cleaner the other day and i was wondering if i should apply if before or after i change the cabin filter? thanks

R34 How do you wire non xenon lights to xenon wiring?
IM-32-FK posted a topic in General Maintenance
R34 How do you wire non xenon lights to xenon wiring? I had to replace my headlights on my GT-T and instead of buying the expensive xenon ones again i bought the non xenon ones. The thing is my GT-T has factory xenon wiring so the plugs didnt match up. So i got someone to temporarily hardwire them so they are running off the spotlight cable. So much so that i dont even have both the fuses in for the headlights in the fuse box and i have all the headlights are still turning on through the spotlights. I only need to turn the headlight stalk once and all the lights turn on. THE HIGH BEAMS DONT WORK THOUGH. Is there any kind of adapter that is plug and play to convert xenon to non xenon wiring? Is there a headlight loom i can change? or is my only bet getting a auto electrican to hard wire them professionally? Also is it safe to drive with this temporary spotlight step up? dont want to start a fire or nothing. thanks -
i got non xenon headlights now but i got stock xenon wiring on my car. So since they dont match up i had to do a temporary wiring so the lights turn on from the spotlight cable lol i got no fuses in for the headlights and it still turns on. Could that be short circuiting it? also the battery is still slightly leaking from where the 6 cells are. i made sure they wernt overfilled and tightened the caps. WHAT GIVES? its a year old century battery
-
its all good now i think its like 14.7 or slightly lower after i put the horn fuse back in and battery light turned off. Just wondering if the battery or alternator would go anyday now since i overloaded the battery and drove on 15.3 for half an hour. Also whos bright idea was it at nissan to cause this battery overload problem by simply taking the horn fuse out?
-
I made sure the water I put in the cells were about 2 inches from the top and made sure the caps are sealed. Had to use a screwdriver and hammer to loosen and tighten them because they were a weird design (two sideways triangles) and it ate into it a bit but don't think it's that. The water also came out black for some reason. The century battery didn't get hot after driving it on 15.3v and the battery hasnt swollen up or anything. But there were white deposits on the railing by the battery so that is almost guaranteed battery acid

Battery is leaking from the top The battery in my 34 is leaking from the top where you put water in it from. Yesterday I had to take the horn fuse out from the engine bay and this caused the battery light to turn on and my turbo timer was showing 15.3v . At the time I didn't know it was the horn fuse but I drove my car like that for half an hour to get home then when I searched google I found out it was cause of the horn fuse. When I checked the battery today I saw that the tray had lots of water and a lot had leaked onto the railing and caused white deposits. I took it out and wiped it down. Car still has power to everything and battery doesn't seem weak but you u think I f**ked the battery by driving it for half an hour on 15.3v?l?

Car starts puttering after reaching certain oil temp

fixing a buckled guard - worth it? I had a minor accident a couple of months ago where someone reversed into my guard and buckled it and broke my headlight too. The guard got pushed in a bit (could tell because the line between the bonnet and the guard was much less than it was before). The repair guy told me he could fix the current guard but im having doubts. His gonna have to use bog on the guard obviously so im wondering if the paint finish would still come out 100% perfect as if he just painted steel, also how would it last the test of time? The mounts might be bent and all and im kinda worried that it wont come out 100% perfect. Could these buckled guards still be saved or am i best of just buying another perfect guard and making him paint that? Anyone have past experiences with fixing and painting a badly damaged guard? Its just that i plan on keeping my skyline for a long time and i want it to be perfect. Im mostly worried about how the paint finish will look now and over time and if he could pull the guard out from where the bolts are in the engine bay and line them up mint and and i want the mounts to line up 100% i.e i want it to be like a brand new guard. Is that possible for the smash repairer to do or should i just give him a new guard and get him to paint that? Thanks Here is the picture of the guard in question :

Can you use polish on small rust spots? I've got a very small rust spot on my car, no bigger than 1-2mm that just recently started to rust after i accidentally scratched it a few months ago., I saw a youtube video saying that you can just get polish to remove the rust by wiping down on it hard. I also had a friend tell me to wipe it hard with vinegar, but is that safe for the paint around the stratch? Also if i dont treat the rust, will it just continue rusting from underneath the paint from the areas surrounding the rust? Ive already bought touch up paint but im not sure the best way to remove the small rust spot without f**king the paint. thanks.

Best way to clean dirty ass seats? hey guys, I work a job where my clothes regularly get dirty, so when i sit in my car the dirt from my clothes just transfers onto my seats. On top of that, ive split drinks and my gf threw coffee on me so the seats are filthy as f**k right now that i put a towel on the seat so my clothes dont get dirty from just sitting on the f**king thing. Whats the best way to clean the seats and the carpet? I was thinking about using the steam cleaner the one you hire from coles or woolworths but is that safe to use on the roof lining and the carpet as well?

Car starts puttering after reaching certain oil temp
IM-32-FK replied to IM-32-FK's topic in General Maintenance
Theres a strong smell of fuel coming from the engine bay when it happens. But if it's a leaking injector then why does it just fix itself?its just hard to determine because the problem is not consistent and if I were to try to diagnose the problem the car would just run fine again when I'm 10 minutes into the diagnosis. I feel that if I take it to a mechanic they are gonna charge me gods knows how much just to fix it. So damn angry right now -
Car starts puttering after reaching certain oil temp
IM-32-FK replied to IM-32-FK's topic in General Maintenance
What do you think the most likely the problem is?like I said, after reaching 60 something degrees Celsius oil temp, the car would putter with a loss of power for about 10-15 minutes then it would run perfect again and WONT DO IT AGAIN TILL NEXT COLD START. It feels like it's running on 5 cylinders but I can't tell if it's a misfire or not. If your car misfires, does that mean it would run with one less cylinder? Or would the car just cut out every few thousand revs? Because my problem is a continuous putter for 10 minutes. If I didn't screw down one spark plug all the way could it cause this? I'm using bcpr6es with 0.8 so I'm pretty sure.
