  1. After R33 GTR Series 3 ( "red" ) drivers side door card as mine is split at the arm rest. Preferably in Sydney for pick up. Let me know what you got. Contact by PM. Thanks in advance
  2. Went for an early morning drive up the Putty Rd early on Saturday morning to check out the conditions. A slight rain was falling and the road varied from dry to wet with everything in between. Going across and past the Colo Heights section the devastation was very confronting. Its very well to see news reports and be concerned and slightly detached but when you see it in person its another thing entirely. You can see the sections hardest hit where the very tops of the trees, where the intensity of the fire, has reached. I stopped at one of the lookouts and if you want to see what an apocalyptic landscape looks like that surely must be it. Further along there is some new re-growth where the fires must of went through late last year. Kangaroos on the roadside ( and nearly collected some ) trying to get feed on the new grasses sprouting. Again a very confronting day and problems processing the images in my head. I think us suburbanites (and I live at the foot of the Blue Mountains) take a lot for granted in our safety. I recommend you go see. Its very sobering
  3. Welcome to SAU ! Having parents of Germanic back ground all I have to say is - Du hast enien Vogel ( for owning a Skyline ) I know believe me when I tell you this. And I'm envious, bordering on jealousy, as you've got the Autobahn ! ! Thats the place to test your GTR !
  4. As GTSBoy states porting is always worth it . . . . however Rb heads are pretty efficient out of the box. Realistically if you are paying some one to port a head it will come down to an hourly rate and that can add up very quickly. Generally the RB26 heads I have done only need blending intake ports for uniformity, port matching manifolds to gaskets to intake manifolds and ( my preference ) knife edging the intake port divider and if your really OCD the exhaust side as well.
  5. What ! What ? My skyline is not a sensible car ? ? ? For shame ! Next you'll be tryin to tell me there's no Santa Clause !
  6. Wait ! What ? Your from Ireland ??? Aaaaaaand . . . . . you've got a standard R33 and a R33 body shell to put any configuration, preferably a V8, of motor in it ? ? Is that a good translation ? ?
  7. Oh you young people: (Not necessarily in order and a lot at the same time ) - 1967 HR Holden Special-( with red Premier interior) 1967 HR Holden Special-grey 1967 HR Holden Special station wagon- blue with a white roof. 1967 HR Holden Premier X2 with the factory Opel four speed gearbox - the model that was supposed to run at Bathurst ( kill me for selling it ) 1968 Alfa Romeo Gulia Sprint GT - ex works car fitted with the supercharged engine.( bring me back alive and kill me again for selling this one. 1948 Ford Anglia Coupe - an aluminium bodied car. ( and kill me a third time ) Holden Gemini Holden VN Commadore Dewoo Leganza Nissan Pathfinder R33 Skyline RED R33 Skyline Black Mitsubishi Lancer R33 Skyline ( that Ive had now for 12 years ) And of coarse the Astra
  8. Yup ! It was, in the end a toss up between the Subaru and the Astra but the Astra one out because to appoint the Subaru with the same features it would of cost nearly 8K more and that's a lot of coin in anyone's terms.
  9. Surprisingly a Holden Astra ! Went through the grind of going car shopping for just about all the makes and found that the best appointed car for value was the Astra. That and the fact that if your a vegan and the ethical and moral choice is not to buy a car with leather in it. Try it some time and you will be very surprised at how hard it actually is to find a make without dead animal skins in it. The the only thing that I wouldn't allow was a small car (Yaris sized etc) cause I've been in a few accidents in my time. This coupled with the fact that now just about every second car is a people mover sized Ford Ranger and if your in a small car and get him at speed its game over.
  10. NO ! Easier to do what I did ! You simply say this when they want to buy a new car - " Sure no problem go and buy any car you like ! Its your choice as your the one who's going to be driving it the most so you should really get something you like ! " Works every time.
  11. Looks like a great unit. I believe its a Type S. For that fatter look you can get the Type M front bar, side skirts and rear pods for that more aggressive look. The Type S always looks like the slimmed down version when you see them side by side. Also there is a small duck tail wing that fits between the rear wing and the boot lid that looks pretty cool as well.
  12. Yes but only if your insane like me trying to get it fit, work and look decent !
  13. Twin servos at Eastern Creek on the M4 to Jenolan Caves - 2 hours 7 mins !
  14. Don't know if any one noticed but it looks as if the Maatouks R32 Skyline went 6.578 seconds in the quarter mile at 209.59 mph in late November ! Is this now the record ? Cause if it is that's bloody fast and credits where credits due !
  15. Or humanspambot ? Best give it the old Turing Test !
  16. Either will do an excellent job and in the end it will come down to personnel choice, budget etc etc. I went old school and opted for a copper head gasket, o-ringed the block and run head studs
  17. How much for cash ? ? ? Remember that stuff ? Cave men like me use it !
  18. Yup ! Tried to go early on Saturday morning and it was closed
  19. Still got the tyres ! Need em gone so make me reasonable offer
  20. This might also be the go : R32GTR castor rods:
  21. Decrease the size of that turbo ( but keep it cause your gonna put it back on later, trust me on this ) and retune You'll get a better driving car which is what they are designed for ( see my post on General Automotive Discussion on what your skyline is for ). I drive mine every day and a bit of perspective is a great thing
  22. Oh noooooooo! Im going for run up there very early tomorrow morning ! Or was !! ! ! ! !
  23. I think Putty road was closed yesterday fro Colo to Mellong yesterday due to bush fires ! Hope this isn't a sign of thing to come for the cruise
  24. Yep permaseal have a pretty good rep ! Or you could, as advised by TerryP above, the standard fibre/graphite gasket is also a brilliant idea. Its up to you. It also might be a goo idea to put a straight edge on the exhaust manifold to check it for warping. No point putting it back on if it bent like a banana. So what Im saying is - are the studs broken from heat stress over time or cause the exhaust manifold has warped and broken them ! Cast iron manifolds really really dont like and engine wash when hot.
  25. Yes in the vast majority of cases the studs will break. The trick is, as your loosening them and they start to bind up don't try and force undoing them. Wind them back in and WD40 the bejesus out of the stud and wind it in and out until it loosens up and then take them out. I've never known there to be a untouched RB engine that the back stud isn't snapped off. Replace the lot and it will save you a world of pain doing it again or suffering exhaust leaks.
