    Well I have an RB25 and it will negate the need for an AFM upgrade, and also an AFM is one more thing to break or go wrong...or at least I believe a MAP is more reliable.

    Why would it damage the engine? Or do you think broken bits of turbo can get sucked into through the exhaust side.

    I'm getting one in the New Year (hopefully). Not cheap though, maybe a bit more than a Power FC but are more advanced and use a MAP.

    Not trying to be funny but this is the internet mate. Still at least you sound like you have done a bit of research and know you can't duct tape a screamer onto a stock turbo.

    Do you keep the OEM fan shroud when you install an alloy rad which has no integral fans?

    Can I upgrade to a forged butterfly, I'm concerned about bending it.

    Would that not either make vibrations, or quickly crater the turbo totally 'cos it would be out of balance and the forces are very high at the speed the turbo spins?

    I'd bet on a boost leak somewhere myself. The 'ping' could have been a clip or clamp failing, or maybe - unlikely - there is a hole in the inter-cooler like from a stone or something which was just coincidental with the redlining.

    Is that even possible? I'm thinking the intake manifold welds would let go first?

    Put the 16's on one side and the 18's on the other and let the diffs do the work not the transfer case.
