  1. That takes some balls, but at least it didn't end in tears with bits of compressor wheel going through the engine. Still I heard of people running 14 psi day in day out on the R33 GTST turbo and the R34 one is a bit stronger I think.
  2. Why would Subaru want to make a car to compete with the AWD Impreza?
  3. I think they were just cheap and available back in the day plus you have the initial D thing going on. I'd imagine they have a chassis about as stiff as a 80 year olds dick with a bad hangover, so not that great to drift really.
  4. You've got balls of steel running 17 psi on mines ECU.
  5. I dunno really. I'll have a look. I can get my workshop to do me a 'hybrid' turbo which is basically the OEM housing but with a steel compressor wheel and an uprated journal bearing (I think), all very straight fwd but it is going to be an average performer, spool up averagely, run out of puff at 6k I reckon. I'll probably just do this but if there was something equally cheap but better might think about it. Other option is a proper Garret/HKS jobbie if I want to go down the route of spending more coin, then would probably rebuilt the engine tbh.
  6. Like a lucky dip then? Sounds fun.
  7. Which one and how does it perform? How is it lasting? I know you probably get what you pay for, but then on the other hand the space shuttle was built with parts made by the lowest bidders.
  8. So on an RB25 what RPM target would you have in mind for a turbo for street fun hitting full boost?
  9. Guys where can you get the phelotic spacer thingy?
  10. 25 psi was the problem not the tune per se. Please understand this FFS. Just a few secs of det at this boost level toasted your motor not 'prolonged det'.
  11. Thanks mate. How would the 3076 perform in comparison on 1 - 1.2 bar boost levels...the sort of application here on a stock motor?
  12. But you can modify this with the tune right, like retard the timing a little for a split second when going to WOT? That is how I understand it. Slow spool up might help with traction - unless you play with the tune - but you lose low end boost/torque? I'm really wanting a responsive car still but with a bit more power basically. I love having full torque/boost at 2800k on the stock turbo at 0.85 bar and it holds that torque almost to redline just drops off a tad. Re-worked stock turbo is cheap but was told would not get full torque/boost until 3800k (~1.2 bar I guess). I was hoping I could do better than lose a grand?
  13. You write that like 'neck snap' is a bad thing? I'm currently looking into upgrade options. I'll probably get a re-worked stock turbo, but maybe a 2835.
  14. Possible curse on his car by a magic gypsy also? Please think before you type. He didn't say it was splutering/dying after changing gear or lifting off but just on boost.
  15. Does anyone know where the relay thingy is on the R33 and is it 2 or 3 pin?
  16. Wow the Prius must have had some serious coin under the hood.
  17. LMAO, but glad nobody died/was really hurt. I'm suspecting these guys were 'day trippers' in these cars? Sounds like the guy in front who did the overtake probably lost traction/stepped out. People forget what 500 hp and RWD can do.
  18. I think maybe I need some proper extra fuse box or something for my GTST now, as a I have a few aftermarket things all wanting power sources, and I found out the shop which put my boost controller in just got a live by wedging the wire in one side of a blade fuse which vexed me greatly. So I need something a bit more 'professional'? Any ideas? Sorry but my auto-electrical knowledge is shit. Also anyone know why my indicators flash faster now I went to LED's and what can I do?
  19. Guys I didn't want this to turn into a general slag off xspeed thread, one reason is that is very negative and also it will probably get nuked. I was saying what happened to me and was not making any specific allegations. Like I said the work they did on my car over several visits and months was fine. If I learned any of this it is that I was possibly too trusting about handing over money on a promise. I say possibly because that is just hypothetical as I am not making any allegation Hanson forgot to send me the stuff or just thought to cheat me. I simply don't know, but if I had to make an educated guess I know what I think. I was also quite new to cars until recently and didn't know an intercooler from an oilcooler.
  20. I was a little exited by this until I found out how slow it was, and because it is nasp there is crap tuning potential. ....and it has 205mm tyres for no grip.
  21. I wouldn't do that since the OEM plenum was never designed to flow air in from the side. It is going to make cylinder 6 more likely to run lean I am afraid.
