  1. how can a bleed valve get the boost down? the way i see it, bleeding the air out is what i Dont want to do
  2. what do you suggest, and why do you think this wouldnt work? just because zip ties are cheap, doesnt mean they cant be used as a temporary solution to keep boost levels down until the motor has been properly run in. again.. why wouldnt this work?
  3. well actually, this will bring the boost back to around 1bar as the restrictor had been removed before i got it.. i think a zip tie around the hose to the boost solinoid would restrict it
  4. ps. no need to be smart thanks for your help too
  5. i know how to take off a hose and put it back on. Im 100% sure it was put back on correctly as it was tripple checked. the guys with my car said a lot of the hoses on the zaust side were corroded. but i was making sure that that was actually the problem before i put the original actuators back in. i am not saying that while i was doing something the pipes corroded all of a sudden, obviosly i must have moved something and one of the corroded pipes split. you seem prety certain the actuators are fine, so i will see how it goes with the new hoses.
  6. arhhhh.. the lines were fine.. they were not leaking, they were connected.. and it was still running unlimited boost. so your saying.. if this hose was taken off... then put back on 5 mins later exactly the same way, it will f**k it up?
  7. nah, what happened was, i heard a noise that sounded like an exhaust gasket was gone (statrted to sound like a truck) so i took off a few pipes to see if i could see any part of the gasket around the turbo had blown off. i may have taken i hose off the wastegate, but it was put back on and everything was normal again before i started the car. after this.. for some reason it was on unlimited boost i checked all the hoses around the wastegate.. i saw one was corroded.. i changed it with a new one.. still made no difference... i have now been told that disconnecting the wastegate hoses will cause it to run off the spring and boost will limit to around 8psi.. however i agree with you, i think it would cause it to run unlimited. could a wastegate be stuck... stuffed actuator?
  8. my girlfriend>
  9. ps. it was imported under the 15 year rule. pps. please dont mention "the cobra shop" either.. im not paying $1900 for compliance again
  10. where can i take a 1990 gtr for compliance in brisbane? i had a place lined up but they will be busy for 2-3 weeks please dont mention "Carmen imports" as i have tried them before and am not interested in dealing with them ever again. thanks
  11. ok, so does anybody know why it could have started to run unlimited.. cuz rather then try to cover the problem with a boost controller i would rather find out what the problem was, and fix it
  12. well the motor is getting put in the car today after a rebuild with some tastey parts.. before 2 pistons fried it was (for some reason) running unlimited boost... it went to around 12psi at only 2500rpm! i want to limit the boost as much as possible.. and i dont know why it was running unlimited. this will be for the run in process then i will be getting a power FC. i want it limited to around 7PSI
  13. just wondering what could cause a GTR to start running unlimited boost. (The boost restrictor has been removed) i have been told that removing the pipes that go to the wastegate actuators and blocking off the hoses will cause the turbos to only run about 8PSI assuming the actuators are fine. basically i want to limit boost to around 12 psi
  14. i am helping the builder out a lot with the build, and if i can question what he thinks and suggest different ideas then why not thanks
  15. thanks
  16. mine was full of water too yay, im in da club yo! i was wondering why it was so damn heavy when i took it off.. it felt like it was solid
  17. apparently there arent that many people who can tune the d-jetro properly and it takes a shit load longer to tune. im using arias pistons and REV billet rods with arp bolts. also if your looking at getting an N1 oil pump you may want to just upgrade to a 33 gtr crank as the pump driver is smaller on the 32gtr crank
  18. did you read my post? i did search.. i searched "RB26 run in oil" thanks ken
  19. new price cams - $150 rods - $150 crank - $350
  20. yeah i have heard that mineral oil is what to use to run it in.
  21. they are the same cams i have in my gtr, i have standard turbos. im not sure how the new cams are yet..
  22. im sure there would be a topic on this somewhere but search didtn get me anything.. so if you know the link that would be great if not, what oil should i use to run in my rb26dett? it get put back in the car tomorrow. i want the best run in oil
  23. did you inspect the afm?
  24. prety easy.. i didnt take the fuel rail or any of the stuff on the intake side off.. just loosened it and pushed it to the side so i could get the back bolts undone... once they were loose i used a magnetic stick to pull them out, exhaust side is easy
  25. when you say it like that its probably not worth it hey i was thinking is it woth the effort of taking out the restrictor as to how much more power you will get lol. 1st gtr i took it out.. and it went fine and still gets around fine these days 2nd gtr - it was out when i got it.... the motor has now died however the issues arnt directly related 3rd gtr - its in and staying in as long as i have it i guess i just mean, taking it out will give notable gains, i wasnt really concerned of the risks when i did it because i didnt add up the costs etc.. also in a HPI mag i saw a write up on how to get more power from a gtr, they did it to there gtr and the results sucked me in
