Hear someone went to the big house for modifying things that go boom, boom... that might slow down progress perhaps?

http://www.mtce.com.au/ Steve is an NDT specialist, if you don't want to take a packed lunch out there, he picks up at various workshops. If they're old magnesium ones, most of the time, safest to make them into hose reels! On the off chance they test any good, last thing you'd do is powder coat them unless the bike is a static display..

Seems to be missing half a dozen springs. Should be reported to ebay for gross misrepresentation too.

Do Semi Slicks Need To Be Balanced?
2pee replied to DJBarnstar's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Ron Tauranac was big on dynamic and static balancing - and fastidious on runout to avoid exciting the tyres in his formula days. All the manufacturer's dealers trackside support balances as part of the service, so might as go with what they do. In the old motorcycle days and particularly mud races > very low pressures, pk screws were often run into the bead through the rim......which would make a nice industrial look on a car! -
You can test a wastegate easy enough with a pump, you'll have bleed past the valve, but should be lifting off the seat if it's working and the diaphragm is intact.

Doubt you'd compare this to a road car system! Once you add the ECU, harness plus the power assist unit, probably closer to 10 than 5k on price too. Believe the Cootes have one in their car, so high downforce and lots of castor is probably where it would shine.

Quality One Looms or Sideshow could probably help you out if you want to go all Deut$ch.

Best Dealer/price For Nismo 555Cc Injectors
2pee replied to tripsteady's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Typical Jap re-brand of a Denso injector, looks like the jip you on O rings too! -
Yeah, seem to remember reading something quite a way further back regarding the intention to make them compulsory, not just in EM. Personally, think you need your head read if you don't use some form of protection, did speak to someone at easter bathurst a couple years back after a biggie and he said he found them too uncomfortable - so wouldn't wear one, despite the other party in the crash being airlifted on a spinal board! On other matters, with Octagon out and MP back in the driving seat, can we expect precipitous drops in entry fees!!

I understand the SSS one came via an airline with the flying rat on the tail.....seems like a lesson in self-flagellation is coming!

You can buy reducers/expanders here, in 304, probably run you ~$30, 80mm wouldn't be typical off the shelf. If you overcome the affection for the jap pipe, most any 2 bit, one man exhaust shop here can flare, as long as there's enough tube to insert the mandrel. 75 to 89 is common, 80 to 89 would be a piece of pee.

Don't know what horizontal you had in mind, the ones I've used only had variable feed set up for steel and would be horrid for bends, a variable vertical would be my preference if you only had one choice (along with a selection of tooth count blades). Typical stainless tube cutting, I use a friction drop saw as first preference. A disc linisher is very useful for squaring, don't know how good the hobby grade H&F ones are? If all else fails, hacksaw and snips have saved the bacon many times and a realistic option if you're only doing a few!

Carringtons at Riverstone have tube in 304/316, off-cuts available. Glen 9627 1194

A few bits and CNC don't normally mix, without paying a premium. What are you hoping to do?

Basic Roll Cage Options And Saftey
2pee replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
When I did my time, it was generally taught you're creating a stress riser and penetration was largely irrelevant. Granted you tend to burn up the edge of the fishmouth, fit-up, technique, fatigue, cruel and unusual contortion yada, yada all can be speculated about too. It may interest you, beyond CAMS motherhood statements on welding, other jurisdictions quantify the maximum permitted amount on ROPS...and it's very minimal. Sorry, can appreciate your viewpoint to a certain degree, mostly just reads like ~ " I'm not a racist, but....." to me, a bit of frankness won't go astray, old and ugly enough not to worry here! Presumably, we're all grown men, Chinese whispers in the background and polite applause in public seems at best, juvenile. I've seen Risking's aluminium work up close and personal, absolutely first class, not sure I'd characterize the above that way, he's free to tell me it's an artifact of the flash or that I don't know my arse from my elbow too! -

Hmmm, looks like an undercut weld to me. -
Struck by the amount of negative commentary on Targa news stories down south over the past few days. This is fairly tame though http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2013/04/16/377074_sport-news.html MW in a Porka fluffing multiple starts a day!

Pollard has the molds and did the carbon work on the Pearson lotii, before he apparently decided prod touring held more attraction....if your customer decides he wants to waste more dough!

I think taking worst case, not a safe option - and against the general requirements, assuming Cams sanction. Post # 5405 pretty well explains why running the pressure pump against the reg and line restriction with a lesser capacity lift won't be an issue. At the 12hr a few years back, before they went all GT, did find a significant increase in fuel temp even dumping back into a 100 litre tank, fuel pump probably over-specced. All the kool kid categories run cable (if not direct) drive fuel pumps nowadays!

Thyssen-Krupp at Wetherill Park I'd suggest isn't too far away. Much cheaper for full lengths, but probably have off-cuts in diameter and wall you want. You'll need to specify a grade - if welding, they have lots of 6061, not much in the way of 5 series.

From the RB26 install pic, all the wrong things to do to a 50/50 balanced chassis - unless straight line is the only consideration. Heavy cast iron block, probably a good 8~12" further forward in the bay and high CoG to boot. A VQ, would be the duck's guts though if it must be Nissan, still a shedload of fab for an orphan install!

200k and still alive, I'd like to see that! Something for the nancy boys, when all you've got is a bit of dead cow for protection.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph0SjLC_lqk

World Time Attack Challenge 2012
2pee replied to handbrake's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Don't know what goes on in this odd form of Gen Y play. If it is obvious, it's then a sure fire bet and putting it on the CC won't be a prob. The 600 gets refunded, the other car gets excluded, win/win I would have though? Scrutineer's job isn't to check eligibility, other forms of the sport have eligibility officers to check on legalities, the money making venture here should have some budget surely! The protest and appeal process is the best way of deciding what's ultimately kosher though, as it's not unknown for State interpretations to cloud various EOs rulings. -
Evo Brembo's On Skyline?
2pee replied to OrThreeThirty's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Some of the reason the brembos come up, they're susceptible to bad fade under extreme use on evos and aftermarket calipers for them offer bigger, thicker pad selection. Won't be all that easy to tell, other than after installation - badly discoloured paint or burnt dust boots are giveaways though.....visible caliper flex and lousy pedal are usual symptoms if they've been overheated. -
Could try Camlocks too, often used in aviation where the breeze would be something approaching LMP speed on the Mulsanne. Pretty much all methods mentioned, require reasonably accurate hole location.....although you can get floating nut plates that give extra wiggle room. Wicks and Aircraft Spruce - among others, do have handy little duplicating devices and templates which can save a bit of potty mouth during the fabrication.
