and how come they just went without warning? like i got my car back from the shop after it being converted to a manual and it jus happened.. i never had any lights on or any problems with it before i took it to the shops?? do they just do that randomly go is it just conincidence that my first drive of her after getting it back from the shops has nothing to do with it they just went randomly? sorry about all the questions.. this is my first skyline im going from commodores to skylines so i kno absolutley nothing

one more question.. how come it keeps coming and going then if its the coilpacks?? i heard it would jus do it from the start all the time if they coils are gone??

hmmm it shouldnt be its a brand new heavy duty less than a week old..

cause its not just like doing it underload or anything it will just do it randomly and it wont jerk the only thing that happens is (if anyone has had xperience with varex exhausts) suddenly the note of the exhaust will change and tahts when i kno its gone into the "mode" so to speak.. and then i can rev out every gear to the max and it will struggle to get up to 50k's even.. jus goes nowhere.. but i noticed this arvo i tested a theory that it happens after the car has been going for say 10-15 mins so after it heats up and when u stop start alot.. at traffic lights etc..

ahh thank you mate thats alot of help.. just wondering since the light is on.. if i brang up the fault codes would it possibly say which of the two is wrong or are they not connected up to a code?

as ive posted so many topics in the last few days some of u may know i jus got my R34 converted to a manual since i got it back nothing but litle problems.. my newest problem is the check engine light will come on and the car's exhaus note will sound exactly like a wrx (like the putting and stuff like that) and the car starts to shake in low revs feels as if its gonne stall on me... annnd i can hav my foot flat to floor in any gear and it will jus go nowhere like i mean struggling to hit 50klms in built up areas... it slips in and out of this mode but the engine light never goes off but sometimes it will jus randomly go back to normal sounding (the exhaust note) and suddenly my power will be all back.. then the exhaust will start putting and sounding like a classic rex and it will run like crap again could it be because i still have the auto ecu running and never hooked up the manual ecu?? or does it just need a tune or in anyones opinion/experience is it something else?? cheers

i just got mine done last week (converted from auto to man) but i dont have the wiring diagram sorry goodluck though -
oh okay yeah the check engine light came on sorry about that guys.. i know that while it was at the shops... they did a compression test and he said it tested at 160 across the board even... but tahts all i know other than the gearbox taht they touchedd and it wasnt doing it before i took it to them... and yeah the A/T light stays on all the time coz i just used the auto ecu when converting it to a manual... the guys also noted that i need 6 spark plugs as they were nearly shot??

Hey guys, in the last few days i just got back my R34 back after it being converted into a manual. Yesterday i took it for a drive and i noticed a slight note change in my exhaust and it started "putting" and the only way i can logically explain the sound is the car started to sound like a Subaru engine?? You kno the classic Rex sound?? I looked straight down and a light with a picture of my gearbox was illuminated... turned the car off checked all clutch fluids etc nothing was wrong turned her back on and it went fine agian.. today i woke up took her for a drive about 15 min away... first time i got into 3rd gear the car started putting and making the sound like a Rex again and the light came on... The light stayed on but every now and then the car would slip from the putting noise to a normal nexhaust note then i would drive say a few min up the road and it would start putting and the car would sound like a wrx again... so forth so forth.. not that i dont mind the wrx note.. the car jus goes a bit sluggish aswell loses a bit of power just wondering what your takings are on this?? could it be that the gearbox has a slight miss... or what would cause the breaking down??

Hey guys just finished my manual converrsion on my R34 whacked a R33 gtst box in there... its currently at the shop everything is finished but its still there as my speedo isnt working jus wondering how is this fixed???

i said my friend... not myself... hmmm doesnt matter if they're shit drivers or the cars are stuffed... still an n/a is beating them... and yeah a VN does beat a n/a not by much?? big 3.8ltr vs 2.5ltr they put up a big fight... we all start somewhere... im suree if he could he would drive a turbo no doubt, as would i.. gotta pay respect when its due dude

" don't bother with an N/A Skyline, it's like buying a 4 cyl Commodore " only alot sexier... plus some N/A skylines beat stock GTST's?? My friends R33 N/A beats GTST's on the rare occasion.. they're usually stuffed or completley stock.. still an achievement... runs early 15's to mid 15's respect for the non turbo's lol commodores would run 16-17's wouldnt they? not sure..

haah u can buy my 34 if u want i gotta part ways with it but yeah man... turbo'd r33's are going for cheap these days.. cause the n/a versions are more expensive as the P Platers are getting into them... so if possible keep teh turbo til ur off ur p's or something and save up and get a nice N/A 34 or whatever u like.. if not then depending wat mods u have.... u might i have my doubts... just be able to get a r34 n/a if ur lucky with the money u sold ur gtst for bro.. something to think about i spose

"u cud swap with na pistons to bring the compression back up, whack a na chipped ecu or a gts link ecu in her, and replace manifold with extractors. or instead of pistons - maybe a really really thin head gasket, deck the block or the head a tiny bit. injectors should be fine with a chipped/aftermarket ecu and obviously you would need a retune car will drive like a total slug without the re-tuning otherwise. its alot of work - an RB25DE would be a cheaper option to whack in her, or RB30DE but since u said ur p plate.. im not sure i dont think u cud do that man if you went down that road of getting an RB25DE in her.. you would also have the added bonus of the bigger turbo brakes that people long for " ^^^ pretty much a quote from that above thread...

hmm yeah i been quoted around the 3grand mark.. give or take... i paid $11,800 for mine... im not sure how much the manuals go for also i need the four doors and mine has low k's and i know theres definatley nothing wrong mechanically wise with the car.. i dont really want to get another car and then going on having to fix up things that are wrong with it or something im not sure which path to take haha

ok cool yeah cheers... does anyone know of anyone that owns/owned one?? or know how reliable the mitsubishi engine is compared to the RB.. cause ive never had a problem with an RB engine.. never had experience with a mitusbishi engine tho?
