Whoops, I sort of screwed up. I was comparing GT3 with GTR... Sort of like Skyline guy - "Hahahaha, look at you with your $240k GT3- "I beat you with my $100k Skyline" Porsche guy = "ahhhh cool, but I've got a Porsche" But I guess the same applies if you are comparing a GTS to a GT-R.

Going waaaay off topic... But does anyone make dynos that rather than linearly "ramping" up, change their load realistically to compensate for drag or even to simulate track maps. Or is that still F1 territory?
-
Roy... whack some Carrera Cup 305-660R18 slicks on the back she'll be right

Funky... I don't write the questions. I just answer them how I see them. Dunno where you came up with this displaying data mumbo jumbo

I know that, I was just being silly... But it does annoy me that people go on about how it was faster than a car that cost $300,000 as if it means anything. You canna change the laws of physics, apart from having GT in the name there is nothing at all comparable between the performance of the two cars... It seems people just want to point out their superiority in spending less to go faster. A sort of reverse snobbery

Engine/Car: RB26DETT/BCNR33 Type of failure: front cylinder (#1) bottom end bearing and rod overheated Factors influencing the failure: Oil condition and level, new sticky tyres State of tune of the engine: boost restrictor removed and untuned PowerFC Suspension and tyres: Stock non-V-Spec, A032R Oil used and service interval: Ummmm yeah General comments: Rushed to track after getting tyres and clutch replaced, oil old and not overfilled

So he has 180hp more than the Ferrari, 220hp more than the GT3 and he is faster... WOW!

Good luck getting a HKS CAMP to run your Skyline... You need a PowerFC for that

The real problem you face is that in sprints there are pretty much no rules. Apart from noise and tyres. So it is very difficult to set yourself guidelines. Drag racing people have the right idea where someone will try to be "fastest GT-R with low mount turbos on street tyres" or something like that. Perhaps you need to set some arbitrary goal like that. Personally I think 220rwkW-250rwkW is plenty. It also is very similar to what a GT3 puts out. Are 50kW more going to make your enjoyment higher? Maybe a little bit.. Are they going to help you become a better driver or just help you to wear things out faster? Power is addictive and it is fun, but for someone interested in track days I think that money is better spent elsewhere. Driving a fast car fast is harder than driving a slow car fast. Flat out kinks become corners you have to brake for etc etc... So I do not deny that there is an advantage in making your car faster to help you become a better driver. But if money is a concern I would just build a reliable RB20DET and go through lots of tyres.

If you wanted to save yourself PMs you wouldn't have posted what you did. p.s. You have P.M.

Throw enough money at a GTS-t and it will go faster than Ben's GT-R

But remember Supras can make Eleventybillion kW on stock internals

While this has been discussed in other threads. Personally I have no objection at all to "cheque book racers". Mechanics have to eat too... While I would like to be legit and "from da hood" and build my car from paperclips McGyver style. I really don't care at all. While the nerd in me likes to ponder flow/spring rates, duty cycles and diameters. It is all just stuff to keep me amused when I am asleep or at work. If you spend your nights polishing your newly installed wastegate actuator might I suggest there is a neglected boyfriend, girlfriend or dog around the house you could perhaps spend some time with. For me a car is about one thing, driving. Given infinity dollars I would just buy Carrera GTs and lots of tyres... Oh and a racetrack... and hire some mechanics... and a helicopter. Oh and a jet plane and ummmm Jessica Alba

Why? It only has a tube running through it for the driveshaft... I would presume it would be fine. Any reason it wouldn't? There is the diff housing thingo but does it matter if it is just sitting there? Does it hit something? p.s. 2 G U UP2, I thought the car in your avatar was some weirdo VP Commodore... LOL

Formula 1 high tech V8 supercars in 05??
Laurence replied to Shrub32's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Sorry, I meant that they should remain at 10 cylinders for marketing reasons. Even though it may not be the best configuration for the capacity. -

Well I guess I made the first comment about V8's being a bad configuration for F1 engines. F1 brands itself as the pinnacle of motorsport. The cars are totally out of the ordinary, open ****pit with 13" wheels, wings, everything about them is totally weird which gives them an exotic feel. A V10 is a strange engine configuration and assists F1 in marketing itself as the bleeding edge of automotive technology (regardless of the truth of the matter). I love V8s, 355, LS1, Cosworth ED... whatever, but they are familiar and somewhat ordinary. F1 cars should be out of the ordinary. -
ESL = English as a Second Language, I was saying that people should accept some small mistakes in your English I used to live in Hong Kong and a lot of my friends were from Singapore so I can speak a bit of Singlish Anyway, this is a list of the fees for registering a car in QLD. Yes it does differ from state to state, many people with Ferraris and Porsches register their cars in QLD to save on stamp duty... http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/faqs.ns...8e?OpenDocument Deped

This dude is ESL... give him a break.. lah

Yeah, the same reason AE86's go for stupid money, nostalgia!!!

gtr 32 track mods???
Laurence replied to wyld1300's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Actually it is worse on stock suspension with R-tyres -
Well on a AVCR solenoid there is a NC hole and you can either connect that back into the intake OEM style or vent it under the bonnet (what everyone does). I have never ever seen one hooked up the "proper" way so for that alone they would be illegal in the same way a bleeder would be. Anywhere Knox is a no go area... EDIT: Crap removed... pointless to argue

As if go karters don't have bulletproof kidneys anyway.

Nothing funny about a $4million dollar engine with no rev limit having more power than a $40,000 engine with a 7,500rpm rev limit.
